Chapter 1285: Leaving the Hospital
Bragi stood at the door of that warehouse, like a statue.
After a long while, he raised his finger in puzzlement and flicked it lightly toward the warehouse's lock. The door swung open with a sound.
Flying dust mingled with the ink scent of letters rushed toward Bragi's face. He stepped inside, his gaze falling on the largest shelf in the center.
A dense array of letters was neatly arranged on every level of the shelf, with dates clearly marked on the labels. A rough glance revealed over a thousand of them.
Bragi recognized these envelopes—they were the ones he and Iðunn had used for their correspondence.
Bragi quickly reached out, pulling out one letter and opening it, reading it carefully from beginning to end. His brow furrowed deeper.
He held this letter in his hand and took out another, scanning its contents.
"How is this possible..." Bragi's eyes were full of confusion and helplessness. He kept pulling out letters, opening and reading them. The more he did this, the deeper the confusion in his eyes grew.
These were all the letters he and Iðunn had exchanged, but these letters should have been sent through the mailbox already...
Why were they appearing here?
"Bragi, Bragi?"
Outside the door, Li Yifei called out Bragi's name. When he walked to the warehouse door and saw the dazed Bragi standing before the shelves, his body jolted violently.
He stared blankly at this scene. "How did you get in?"
Bragi finally snapped back to his senses. The hand gripping the letters trembled uncontrollably. He rushed to Li Yifei's side, held up the letters, and gasped heavily:
"Li Yifei... tell me, what's going on?
Why are the letters I sent to Asgard, to my wife Iðunn, appearing here?"
Li Yifei looked into Bragi's confused, struggling eyes and didn't know how to respond for a moment. "Bragi... calm down first."
Bragi gritted his teeth and directly brushed past Li Yifei, quickly dashing up the stairs to his ward.
He grabbed the brand-new red mailbox from the corner of the desk and slammed it downward hard. A dull thud sounded as the lock on the back of the mailbox was pried open, and a pristine letter drifted out.
Bragi opened this letter. He could confirm it was the one he'd written half an hour ago—the ink hadn't even dried yet.
He held this letter in his hand, standing in place like a statue.
"It didn't disappear..." Bragi's gaze fell on the mailbox he'd thrown to the floor. The inner walls were smooth and clean, made entirely of copper. No matter how he looked at it, it was just an ordinary mailbox.
"It doesn't transmit letters at all... Lin Qiye lied to me."
Bragi murmured to himself. "Why would he lie to me?"
"If these letters were never sent out, then where did the replies I received come from?"
Bragi felt his mind go blank. No matter how much he thought, he couldn't understand. He took a deep breath, widened his eyes, and stared at some invisible point before him.
Through Lin Qiye's eyes, he saw the outside world.
The outside Lin Qiye had walked to the courtyard outside the building, saying something to Si Xiaonan hidden in the corner. Through the high wall outside the courtyard, Bragi could see the distant continuous temples and, further away, the faintly visible sacred mountain.
"Asgard?!"
Bragi froze in place.
As a native deity of Asgard, he naturally recognized those buildings. Lin Qiye was actually in Asgard?
Since he'd arrived in Asgard long ago, why didn't he let him out to meet Iðunn?
Where did those letters from Iðunn in his room come from?
Bragi stared blankly at this scene, motionless in the room.
"Bragi, Bragi... don't get too excited. I'll call Qiyue over right away. He'll explain everything to you..." Li Yifei ran breathlessly up to the second-floor ward and stood at the door.
"I understand! I understand!!"
Bragi's eyes brightened gradually, as if he'd thought of something.
Like an excited child, he gleefully raised his hand and pointed at Li Yifei before him, as well as the outside Lin Qiye, laughing aloud:
"So Lin Qiye arrived in Asgard long ago. He acted like a messenger, secretly delivering the letters I wrote to Iðunn, and secretly bringing her replies back here, stuffing them into my mailbox...
He's already met Iðunn! He didn't let me out because he wanted all of you to team up and give me a surprise when I'm discharged!! Right?!"
Li Yifei stood stupefied in place.
"Discharge... discharge... as long as I can get discharged, I'll be able to see you!" Bragi lowered his head, mumbling to himself, his eyes shining with excitement.
Without another word, he rushed out the door. His figure blurred and vanished down the corridor.
Li Yifei ran to the edge of the corridor, feeling an uneasy premonition in his heart. "Bragi! Hey! Bragi! Where are you going?!"
The hospital.
Rooftop.
An old man in white robes stood before the rooftop's wire fence, gazing down benevolently at the entire hospital.
A golden figure suddenly appeared at the rooftop's edge, walking toward him quickly. Bragi's golden hair fluttered in the wind:
"Uncle! You can make my treatment progress increase rapidly, right?! Just now you patted me, and my progress jumped straight to 95%!"
Jarlanh slowly turned his head, gazing温和ly into his eyes. "You did very well, child."
"Uncle! Help me one more time! I'm only 5% away from completion. As long as I can get out, I'll be able to see my wife..." Bragi grabbed his hand and said seriously, "Help me one more time. I'll owe you a favor."
Jarlanh stood before the wire fence, his white cloud-woven robes dancing in the wind. Those deep blue eyeballs gazed at Bragi, a benevolent smile curving his lips.
He reached out and patted Bragi's shoulder once more:
"You did very well, child."
Bragi Treatment Progress: 96%
"You did very well... child."
Bragi Treatment Progress: 97%... 98%... 99%...
Under Bragi's delighted gaze, the illusory progress bar above his head jumped directly to the final slot:
"Bragi Treatment Progress: 100%"
"Poetry and Music God Bragi's treatment complete. Please leave the facility immediately."
"Reward extraction conditions met. Beginning random extraction of Bragi divine ability..."
