Chapter 1193: The Ten Forefront
"The time has come, let's begin."
Number 01 stood in the center of the grand hall, speaking in a low, solemn voice that echoed beneath the empty arched dome.
Lin Qiye glanced at those around him. After he entered, several others had joined the gathering, and now the lowest number had reached 38.
Thirty-five agents, and three gods hidden among them, began a absurd and mysterious gathering in the mist wreckage.
"There are many newcomers attending for the first time, so I'll repeat the gathering rules." Number 01's voice carried no emotion, mechanically ringing out,
"First, during the gathering, unless the other party voluntarily discloses information, it is forbidden to inquire about or probe anyone's identity."
"Second, during the gathering, any form of armed conflict is prohibited. If disputes arise during transactions, you may apply to me for arbitration."
"Third, to ensure the safety of participants, after the gathering ends, everyone shall leave in order of their number, spaced five minutes apart."
"Fourth, before entering the gathering, I have verified and registered each of your God's Ruins information. Of course, this information is known only to me at present, but if information fraud or falsification occurs during a transaction, I will subsequently issue an agent bounty, causing the fraudster to be hunted by all god agents worldwide.
At the same time, I must remind everyone that what presides over order here is merely one of my avatars. The information files are backed up elsewhere as well, so any fools thinking 'as long as I kill them, no one will ever know' should abandon such ideas as soon as possible."
After hearing these four rules, Lin Qiye murmured in surprise:
"To be honest, this agent gathering is quite well-organized."
"Of course. If there were problems with this gathering itself, there wouldn't be so many agents wanting to participate every year." He Lin glanced at the figure on the platform and continued,
"Moreover, it's said that this same person has hosted the agent gathering for over thirty consecutive years... this Number 01 is definitely no ordinary individual."
On the platform, Number 01 paused briefly before continuing:
"Once the gathering begins, everyone will stand in order of their number and ask all present about whatever clues they wish to know or what artifacts they seek.
If someone present knows the answer, they may choose to disclose the information publicly, or they may take a number plate and wait until after everyone has discussed, then conduct a private one-on-one transaction.
Now, let's begin with Number 02."
As Number 01's voice fell, their figure flickered and vanished from the center of the hall, reappearing in a corner of the venue to quietly observe everyone present.
From the crowd, a hooded figure with "02" written on the brim slowly rose.
"I want to know the exact location of the Indian Divine Temple."
The exact location of the Divine Temple?
Lin Qiye gazed at this figure with curiosity.
He didn't know the answer to this question, but he was genuinely intrigued... However, what interested him even more was who exactly this Number 02 was, and what purpose did they have for seeking the Indian Divine Temple?
It wasn't just Lin Qiye—essentially all the agents present had this same question.
Soon, a hand was raised.
"I know." The hoarse voice of Number 17 spoke up, "I choose to trade."
From afar, Number 01 flicked their finger, and a silver coin engraved with '17' was tossed, landing in Number 02's hand on the platform.
"After the public discussion concludes, go to the second floor and, using this coin, find Number 17 for a private transaction." Number 01 said coolly.
Number 02 glanced at Number 17, gripped the coin tightly, and sat back down.
Number 02's inquiry ended there. Immediately, Lin Qiye's gaze shifted to Number 03 nearby.
Number 03 was one of the three gods hidden among the participants.
Their purpose for being here might be hidden within their question? Lin Qiye thought to himself.
To Lin Qiye's disappointment, Number 03 simply stood for a few seconds before sitting back down without saying a word.
"What's the meaning of this?" Lin Qiye asked, puzzled.
"This means they don't want anything." He Lin explained from the side,
"People who come here don't necessarily all have some kind of need. Some might simply come to listen to publicly available information, or to see if there's something someone else needs that they happen to possess for trade."
Lin Qiye nodded.
Numbers 04 and 05 followed similarly—each rose and sat back down without asking questions.
Number 05 then stood up: "I want to know methods to infiltrate Great Xia."
Beneath the hood, Lin Qiye's brow furrowed.
The voice echoed through the spacious hall, yet no one raised their hand to respond. After more than a dozen seconds, someone finally spoke up:
"You... are a newcomer to the gathering, aren't you?"
Number 05 said nothing, tacitly confirming the answer.
"Among everyone here, who doesn't want to know how to infiltrate Great Xia? Who doesn't want to gather intelligence on Great Xia to report back and earn merit?" the person continued,
"If it were a few months ago, you might have been able to infiltrate Great Xia using some special God's Ruins, but now it's nearly impossible.
Great Xia's borders are guarded by war fortresses, fighter jets and ships patrol the skies, and there's an invisible dream net—any living being with consciousness that enters Great Xia territory will be instantly detected.
The moment you set foot across Great Xia's border, within no more than twenty seconds, massive armies, the Night Watch, and even Great Xia's gods will conduct a carpet search within a hundred-li radius. Even if you transformed into a fly, you wouldn't be able to slip in quietly.
Furthermore, even if you somehow managed to get in, then what?
A few months ago, agents of Gaia, Asura, and Loki all rushed in en masse, and in the end, only one survived... Do you think you can be stronger than someone from the [Ten Forefront]?"
Number 05's fists clenched tight. After standing in silent contemplation for a moment, they snorted coldly and sat back down.
"What exactly is the [Ten Forefront]?" Lin Qiye's eyes were full of confusion.
"This is what those in the god agent circles call the ten agents with the highest combat power, closest to that gate of godhood." He Lin explained patiently,
"Agents, in a sense, are merely tools of the gods, but there's no denying they possess some measure of divine power. If the gods they serve were to fall, they would indeed have a slim chance of seizing the god's divine law and ascending to become new gods...
But this is far too difficult. Setting aside the question of how a human could snatch another god's divine law from a deity of the same lineage, even if they obtained the law, the human body simply couldn't withstand its power and would quickly disintegrate.
So this is merely their beautiful fantasy.
But humans, after all, need some fantasies to fuel their motivation. They ranked the ten agents standing at the forefront of godhood based on their overall combat power, historical battle records, and the divine forces they represent—calling them the [Ten Forefront].
The Gaia agent they just mentioned ranks tenth among the [Ten Forefront],
And Loki's agent, Si Xiaonan... ranks fifth."
