# 108
**Chapter 108: Nightfall Flickers**
She could actually be brought out?
Lin Qiye stared blankly at Nyx before him. Under the night sky, she seemed like a completely different person—no longer the dazed patient from the asylum...
Now, she looked like a true goddess.
A trace of confusion appeared on Nyx’s stunning face. She walked to the edge of the building, gazing down at the silent training camp and the glittering lights in the distance, and slowly spoke:
“Is this your divine kingdom, Thanatos?”
Lin Qiye shook his head. “This isn’t a divine kingdom. This is the real world.”
“The world?” Nyx tilted her head, pointing at the brightly lit city in the distance. “But this... is clearly a divine kingdom.”
Lin Qiye sighed and didn’t continue arguing with this ancient goddess who had mental issues and outdated ideas. Instead, he walked to her side and asked:
“How does it feel to be out here?”
“It’s big, and beautiful, but... not as warm as home.” Nyx thought for a moment, then added, “But since it’s Thanatos’s divine kingdom, I’ll like it no matter what.”
Lin Qiye was stunned for half a second, then realized that the “home” Nyx referred to was the small psychiatric hospital.
“Unfortunately, I can’t leave this training camp right now. Otherwise, I could take you around. There are still plenty of interesting things in modern cities.” Lin Qiye shook his head regretfully.
“This is your divine kingdom—why can’t you leave?”
“Well... it’s called rules.”
“Do you want to leave?”
“You can take me out?”
“Under this night sky, I can take you anywhere.” Nyx pointed to the sky above.
“Your divine power has recovered?”
“Not entirely, but a simple night flicker is still within my ability.”
Lin Qiye’s gaze fell on the distant city. After a moment of hesitation, as if making up his mind, he said:
“Yes. There’s a place I want to go. I’ll come right back after.”
“No problem, my child.” Nyx smiled and reached out, grasping Lin Qiye’s wrist. “Picture the location in your mind. I’ll take you there.”
Lin Qiye slowly closed his eyes. In his mind, a small, old house appeared.
The next moment, a dense wave of night spread out from where they stood—
And their figures vanished!
…
**Smack—!!**
Inside the training camp, Yuan Gang, who was sipping tea, suddenly changed expression. The teacup in his hand slipped and shattered into over a dozen pieces!
“A god’s aura?!” He sprang from his seat, turning to look at the rooftop of the dormitory building, eyes wide. “Impossible... how could a god’s aura appear here?!”
He hesitated for a moment, then grabbed the Straight Blade beside his bed and shot out the door like lightning!
He dashed through the silent night, leaving afterimages in his wake, while pulling out his phone and dialing a number.
“Hello?”
“Captain, something’s happened!”
Hearing Yuan Gang’s grave tone, Shao Pingge on the other end dropped his usual playful attitude and asked seriously:
“What’s going on?”
“In Cangnan City, a divine power fluctuation just appeared inside the training camp.”
“What?” Shao Pingge’s expression changed. “Which god?”
“I don’t know, but that aura... doesn’t match any known deity. I suspect it’s a god we’ve never observed before.”
“Got it. Don’t act rashly. I’ll report to the Commander and see if we can dispatch a Human Apex!”
“Yes, sir.”
Yuan Gang hung up, his figure like the wind as he rushed to the dormitory building. Without stopping, he ran straight up the vertical wall and soon reached the spot where Lin Qiye and Nyx had stood.
He stood on the rooftop, looking around, brows furrowed.
“Where did they go...”
…
“Mom, let me wash the rest of the dishes.”
“No need. Go do your homework.”
“It’s fine, Mom. I already finished my homework. You worked the night shift until late—get some rest early.” Yang Jin took the bowl from his aunt’s hands.
His aunt stood there empty-handed, shaking her head helplessly. “You child... just like your brother—too sensible.”
She paused, looked up at the moon hanging in the night sky, and murmured:
“I wonder how that boy is doing now...”
“Don’t worry. Brother will be fine.”
His aunt sighed and nodded.
Yang Jin smiled. “Alright, Mom, leave it to me. Go get some sleep.”
“Okay. You sleep early too.”
“Good night.”
“Good night.”
His aunt went into her room and closed the door. In the narrow living room, only the sound of Yang Jin washing dishes remained. Little Black La lay at his feet, yawning.
On the rooftop of the neighboring building, a flicker of night quietly descended.
**Smack—!!**
“Woof woof woof woof—!!!”
A plate slipped from Yang Jin’s hand and crashed to the floor with a sharp shatter.
A cold glint flashed in Yang Jin’s eyes, then vanished. He stomped on Little Black La, glaring at it. The dog immediately shut up.
But its eyes remained fixed on the distant rooftop, teeth bared, as if facing a great enemy.
“Another Western god... why is Brother with her...” Yang Jin muttered, kicking Little Black La again. The dog whined and lay back down.
“What happened? What happened?!” His aunt rushed out of her room. Seeing the shattered plate, she hurried to Yang Jin’s side. “Are you hurt?”
“I’m fine, Mom. Just slipped.” Yang Jin gave an embarrassed smile, grabbing a broom and dustpan to clean up.
“Let me do it—those shards are sharp!”
“No, I’ve got it.”
“...”
On the distant rooftop, Lin Qiye watched silently, a faint smile on his lips.
“This A Jin... when I’m not around, he’s all thumbs...”
Nyx beside him looked puzzled. She pointed at Yang Jin and asked, “Is he your friend?”
Lin Qiye shook his head. “Family.”
“Family?” Nyx’s confusion deepened.
“Yeah.”
Lin Qiye watched a little longer, then exhaled. “Alright, let’s go back.”
“Already?”
“Better not stay away too long.”
“Okay. As you wish.”
Nyx nodded, grasping Lin Qiye’s wrist again. Night flickered—and the two vanished.
In the small house, Yang Jin, who had just finished sweeping the floor, looked up at the direction they had disappeared, lost in thought...
