Chapter 1071: Come Out and See Me
Asgard.
The magnificent temple complex rose like layered mountains above the divine realm. At the very core of this temple city, a silver-shimmering sacred mountain stood tall and imposing.
At the summit of this sacred mountain, a grand and sacred temple perched at the apex of Asgard, its interior pulsing with countless divine rays—like the very foundation of the entire divine realm. One glance at it inspired reverence.
Beneath the sacred mountain, several pale-skinned, golden-haired Western deities gathered together, gazing up at that lofty Supreme God Hall with complex expressions.
"Is today really the..." one of the Western deities试探性地开口。
"Yeah." Another deity nodded slightly. "Today's the date written on the Great Xia Moral Lord's challenge letter."
"No way? The Great Xia Moral Lord actually dares to enter Asgard alone? Is he insane?"
"Unknown. In any case, the entire Asgard is now on high alert. Even Bifröst has been completely shut down. I heard that a few Indian deities arrived from the Divine Temple a couple days ago—they should be guarding against that Moral Lord."
At the mention of Indian deities, the Western deities present showed undisguised disgust.
"Does our Asgard need help from those creatures? How disgusting."
"When did the King of Gods become so cowardly? Even if the Gods of Great Xia charged directly into Asgard for a direct confrontation, they might not be our match... And all that's coming is one Moral Lord?"
As the deities whispered among themselves, a figure cloaked in white horse armor sprinted at breakneck speed along the jade-paved Sunset Avenue from the Bifröst shore.
It was a golden-haired, robust man, bearing a sword on his back, exuding an awe-inspiring presence. He rode his horse at full gallop to the foot of the sacred mountain. Instead of climbing the thousand-step staircase, a pair of holy wings extended from the white horse's spine, carrying his form directly toward the Supreme God Hall at the summit.
The white horse's wings flapped rapidly. Soon, the man arrived above the thousand steps, dismounted, pushed open the heavy temple doors, and walked in calmly.
Inside the temple, many had already gathered.
Thor, god of thunder; Loki, god of trickery; Frigg, mother of the gods. In the corner of the temple, there were also two men cloaked in shadow— their forms completely obscured.
The golden-haired man walked straight to the temple's center and respectfully knelt before the one-eyed elder seated on the pristine divine throne:
"Father, I've patrolled the entire perimeter of Asgard. No abnormalities detected."
"Mm." On the divine throne, the one-eyed elder slowly opened his eyes. "Rise, Tyr."
Tyr stood up, his peripheral vision catching a glimpse of the two unfamiliar men in shadow. His brow furrowed almost imperceptibly. He withdrew to stand alongside Loki and Thor.
"Today is the... tenth day written on the challenge letter." Thor, draped in a red robe, stood beneath the divine throne, his brow furrowed as he spoke. "Will the Great Xia Moral Lord... truly come?"
"Hehe, who knows."
Beside him, Loki casually toyed with a wooden sword. Tied to the end of the sword's hilt was a thin cloud paper.
That was the challenge letter that had been stabbed into the ground before the divine throne ten days prior.
"Bifröst is severed—even if he wanted to come, he couldn't enter Asgard." War God Tyr said coolly. "But even if he arrives, we need not fear him. Heimdall guards Bifröst. The gods of Asgard have never feared battle... We don't need support from any unorthodox factions."
After speaking, he glanced again at the two figures in shadow.
On the divine throne, the one-eyed elder's gaze pierced through the temple's open doors, falling directly on Bifröst at Asgard's edge. The dim twilight dyed the sky beyond the bridge, and the countless stars seemed to grow increasingly dim.
His eyes narrowed.
Whoosh—!!
Suddenly, on the thin cloud paper tied to the end of the wooden sword in Loki's hand, a wisp of flame spontaneously ignited and quickly burned.
Loki's expression changed. He immediately hurled the wooden sword away. The lightweight sword landed in the center of the spacious temple with a crack, trembled twice, then went still.
A sliver of dawn's light tore through the漆黑的夜空, passed through the open temple doors, and fell upon that burning cloud paper.
By now, the cloud paper had nearly burned away entirely. Only the six characters in the lower right corner—"太清道德天尊" (Taqing Moral Lord)—remained, gradually turning to embers and ash, floating about the temple.
On the divine throne, the one-eyed elder's expression shifted slightly.
"Loki, what are you doing?" Thor frowned at the sight.
"It wasn't me!" Loki glared at him.
"If it wasn't you, then who—"
Thor had barely finished speaking when he stopped abruptly. All the deities present seemed to sense something simultaneously and turned to look outside the temple.
At Asgard's edge,
A single straw sandal stepped lightly onto the broken bridge surface.
Crimson morning clouds rose from the east, like flames spreading across the plains, instantly scorching a great hole in the漆黑的夜空!
A robed Daoist in black and white attire walked unhurriedly forward, his wide sleeves gently fluttering in the wind—appearing both mortal and transcendent.
No one knew where he had come from, nor how he had entered Bifröst. But the instant this Daoist appeared, a name surfaced in the minds of every deity in Asgard, branded like a searing iron烙印 deep within their hearts.
——Taqing Moral Lord.
That was Great Xia's Moral Lord.
The Daoist wore a pair of straw sandals. With every step, it appeared he was landing on Bifröst. But upon closer inspection, one would notice there was a sliver of air between his feet and the ground—a gap of exactly nine millimeters.
This seemingly unremarkable Daoist moved with profound Daoist grace in every gesture.
The Moral Lord walked through the void. His hairpin斜轧 through disheveled hair, black strands brushing his cheeks. He微微抬起头, and those bright, transparent eyes seemed to pierce through space itself, locking into a distant gaze with the one-eyed elder on the divine throne miles away.
The Moral Lord's lips parted slightly. In the next moment, his voice echoed across all of Asgard!
"Odin, come out and see me!"
The instant they heard this voice, every god in Asgard's expression changed simultaneously. They spun to look at Bifröst, their eyes filled with disbelief.
He actually came?
In the Supreme God Hall, Odin, seated on the divine throne, grew increasingly gloomy.
His hands rested on the armrests of the throne, showing no intention of moving. That single eye平静地注视 at the distant Moral Lord, unmoving like a massive rock.
On Bifröst.
The Moral Lord sighed helplessly. His previously halted footsteps moved forward once more.
"If that's how it must be, then don't blame this humble Daoist for being impolite... I've come to pay my respects."
