Chapter 1028: Closing Bifröst
Northern Europe.
Asgard.
The towering palace complex stood atop the clouds. At the edge of the palace, a magnificent rainbow of light wove together into a bridge, cascading from heaven like a waterfall down to the mortal world.
At the end of this Bifröst bridge, a giant clad entirely in brilliant golden armor, holding a holy sword, stood as still as a stone statue.
He was the Watcher of Bifröst,
and the guardian deity guarding the entrance between Asgard and the mortal world... Heimdall.
Suddenly, his tightly shut eyes opened slightly. He gazed toward the other side of the rainbow bridge, brow furrowed.
At the end of the rainbow bridge, a man in an elegant black tuxedo was walking slowly toward him. His slightly curled black hair drifted in the wind, and a pair of narrow, long eyes gleamed with eagle-like sharpness.
"Loki." Heimdall in his brilliant golden armor spoke in a low voice, not hiding the disgust in his eyes in the slightest. "What do you want here?"
"No need to be so tense, Heimdall." Loki smiled faintly. "I'm just here on Odin's behalf to deliver an order."
"Order?"
Hearing these two words, Heimdall's expression softened somewhat.
"What order?"
"For the next four days, close Bifröst. Cut off all roads to the mortal world. No one enters or leaves Asgard."
"Close Bifröst?" Heimdall's brow furrowed. "This bridge hasn't been closed in over a hundred years. Why close it?"
"Didn't you hear? Someone is coming to cause trouble in our Asgard."
"With me here, no one can enter Asgard."
Heimdall gripped his holy sword, straightened his spine. The brilliant golden armor gleamed under the sunlight as he spoke calmly.
"Heh heh." Loki sneered. "With just you? I'm afraid that's not enough."
A cold light flashed in Heimdall's eyes.
"Closing Bifröst is Odin's order. I'm just here to inform you. Whether you do it or not is up to you." Loki said lazily. "Consider yourself warned, Heimdall."
With that, regardless of Heimdall's expression, Loki turned and walked toward the other end of Bifröst.
Heimdall stared at Loki's retreating back, his hands gripping the holy sword tightly. A trace of killing intent surged in his eyes, but after a moment of hesitation, he took a deep breath and removed his hand from the sword hilt.
He turned around, gazing at the Bifröst bridge cascading from the clouds to the mortal world, his eyes filled with conflict.
He gently raised his palm and grasped the empty space before him, as if holding some mysterious authority, slowly rotating it. Immediately, the sacred rainbow bridge that hung down became suspended in mid-air, as if a waterfall had been cut off at its middle.
The only bridge connecting Asgard to the outside world was thus severed. Just like Takamagahara of old, it entered a state of isolation from the world.
At the end of the rainbow bridge, seeing this scene, Loki's brow lifted slightly.
Just as he was about to turn and leave, his right ear twitched slightly, as if he had heard something. He let out a surprised sound of intrigue.
"...It can allow gods to touch the Supreme Realm, and also allow mortals, to attain godhood instantly?"
His narrow, long eyes narrowed into a dangerous arc.
...
Great Xia.
Pamir Plateau.
Successive booming sounds rang out among the mountains. Andre stood atop a massive earth serpent, the wind and snow swirling around him as he gazed at the three crimson figures charging toward him one after another. His expression was extremely gloomy.
These three Great Xia people were simply too troublesome!
The young man leading them was beside the point—he possessed both the power of the Seraph and the Night Goddess simultaneously, and wielded Ame-no-Murakumo. His combat strength had already completely exceeded the "Endless" realm. Even in a one-on-one situation, he could fight Andre for several rounds.
The scholarly young man with the black-framed glasses seemed to have an endless variety of uncanny abilities—the mysterious circles on the snow, the mysterious force that compressed everything around him into two dimensions, as well as frost and various poison mists. Once he made a move, it was impossible to defend against.
Then there was the black-haired madman who only knew how to grin stupidly—terrifyingly powerful killing intent swirled around him. He was clearly only in the "Endless" realm, yet he fought with momentum that surpassed "Klein." He was like a fearless mad dog!
These three were like wolves prowling around him. Though none of them could defeat him alone, together, every time they launched an attack, they could tear off a chunk of flesh from him.
The wounds on Andre's body multiplied. Sensing his own condition, he knew he absolutely could not continue entangling with these three Great Xia people.
He had worked so hard to infiltrate Great Xia, just to enter the Kunlun Ruins and investigate the truth about Great Xia's gods. If he continued fighting like this, he didn't know if he'd have a chance to leave this plateau alive. And if there were other Great Xia people lurking nearby, reporting his whereabouts to Great Xia's Human Apex, his situation would become even more dangerous.
Andre's gaze swept over the three people rapidly charging toward him, and he quickly made a decision.
"Death Sea."
Andre murmured, slamming both hands toward the earth beneath his feet. A ripple instantly swept across all the nearby mountains.
In the next instant, the originally solid and thick earth suddenly melted into black liquid, rolling rapidly like seawater.
Lin Qiye's eyes narrowed.
He had witnessed this move before. It was precisely this technique that had trapped him deep within the earth. Now seeing Andre use the same trick again, he immediately summoned the Flame-Vein Earth Dragon, pulling the berserk Cao Yuan and An Qingyu up into the sky.
Streams of black liquid chased after them into the sky, attempting to engulf Lin Qiye and the others.
Seeing this, a gleam flashed in Andre's eyes. His entire body fell backward into the Death Sea and dissolved without a trace.
When he appeared again, he was already at the entrance to the Kunlun Ruins.
Both feet stepping on the churning Death Sea as if it were solid ground, he stretched out his right hand and forcefully pressed it onto the intricate bronze patterns. He fully activated his God's Ruins, causing this expanse of bronze patterns etched into the earth to vibrate violently along with the ground.
A massive earthquake that encompassed most of the Pamir Plateau erupted!
The snow atop the high mountains crumbled inch by inch, rolling down like a tidal wave. Fine cracks appeared on the surface of the ancient bronze patterns, quickly breaking open a gap large enough for one person to pass through.
Bewitching ethereal light wandered behind the bronze patterns, wisps of spiritual energy flowing out from within. Sensing the divine power emanating from within, Andre's eyes filled with joy.
So this was indeed the place!
Without any hesitation, Andre stepped into this ethereal light and vanished on the spot.
With his departure, the churning Death Sea around gradually calmed, returning to solid, thick earth. Lin Qiye and the other two rode the Flame-Vein Earth Dragon down from the sky, landing beside that gate covered in cracks and bronze patterns.
"He went in." An Qingyu frowned, staring at the gap flickering with ethereal light. "What... is this place?"
