# 86
**Chapter 86: Cheers of Support**
Within the Temporal God’s Ruins, Wang Mian’s speed was astonishing. He easily dodged Lin Qiye’s Straight Blade.
“I get it now—this is from that chubby kid of the Baili family…” In just a moment, Wang Mian pieced it together and sighed helplessly.
But there was no regret in his eyes—only growing excitement.
“Fine, then let’s have a proper fight!”
He completely abandoned slashing out blade aura, instead closing in with his Mandarin Arrow to clash directly with Lin Qiye. The black blade and the pale-blue blade collided again and again in the air, spraying blinding sparks!
Under the Temporal God’s Ruins, Wang Mian’s offense-focused speed had already left the human realm behind. Anyone else in Lin Qiye’s place probably wouldn’t even see his hands, let alone the blade’s path.
Even Lin Qiye had to pour all his concentration into dynamic vision and rely on terrifying reflexes just to barely block Wang Mian’s onslaught.
Right now he was endlessly grateful for the cram course Chen Muye and the others had given him before coming. Without Chen Muye’s wooden-sword beat-downs and bullet-dodging drills, he wouldn’t have lasted five seconds.
In the dizzying flurry of blades, Lin Qiye suddenly felt his body lighten—the flow of time around him returned to normal.
Correspondingly, Wang Mian’s speed in Lin Qiye’s eyes slowed.
“My turn…”
Lin Qiye smiled, raised his Straight Blade, and hacked wildly at Wang Mian, now stripped of his time boost!
Inside the Temporal God’s Ruins, Lin Qiye couldn’t out-cut Wang Mian; once it dispersed, the [Starry Night Dancer]-boosted Lin Qiye could thrash Wang Mian at will!
The situation flipped instantly. Lin Qiye’s assault was a storm, forcing Wang Mian to retreat step after step.
If not for Wang Mian’s exquisite blade work, he’d have collapsed long ago.
A few seconds later Wang Mian opened the Temporal God’s Ruins again and turned the tables…
Back and forth they went, each seizing the upper hand in turn, hacking at each other for more than three solid minutes!
“… Aren’t they tired?”
Baili Pangpang, already sitting out on a rock, wiped sweat from his forehead and sighed.
Moon Ghost beside him exhaled. “No idea if they’re tired, but I’ve been beaten up all day—I’m dead tired…”
Baili Pangpang patted his shoulder. “It’s fine, bro. Chilling here is nice too; let them fight to the death. Drop by my place sometime when you’re free.”
Moon Ghost: …
Boom—!
An air cannon cratered the ground in front of them; the shockwave left Baili Pangpang dazed.
“Hey! You brawlers—take it somewhere else! Don’t hit the innocent!” Baili Pangpang shouted at the red-eyed Shen Qingzhu and Vortex in the distance.
He turned back, concerned. “You okay, Brother Moon Ghost?”
“Cough, cough—fine, fine…”
Seeing the two slackers resting in comfort, Vortex smacked his lips enviously. “Say, why don’t we stop too and go lounge?”
“…” Shen Qingzhu considered. “Not a bad idea.”
“Go?”
“Go!”
Elsewhere, Tianping drifted unsteadily above, glanced at the demon-possessed Cao Yuan on the ground, and sighed.
“Must you go so crazy? You’ve been roaring forever—aren’t you tired? Let’s rest.”
“Rooo—rooo… cough-cough-cough…
Cao Yuan’s throat was hoarse. The black flames wreathing him faded, and his blood-red eyes regained clarity.
“Cough… l-let’s go. Amitabha, I’m exhausted…”
Voice shot, Cao Yuan could only rasp. He gave Tianping a look and shuffled aside.
Before long, Rose and Molly walked over hand in hand, chatting and laughing.
“Huh? You guys stopped too? I wanted a good show.” Vortex sounded disappointed.
“What, only you two can slack off?” Rose rolled her eyes and hugged Molly’s arm. “Finally met such a cool elder sister—I can’t bear to…”
“… Rose, people will think our Mask Squad are all perverts,” Tianping groaned, palm to forehead.
“How is pursuing true love perverted?!” Rose huffed. “When we get back, I’m changing my codename.”
“Changing it? Not Rose anymore?”
“From now on I’ll be… Lily!”
“…”
Everyone’s gaze turned strange. Baili Pangpang’s hand shook and the greatsword in his lap clattered to the ground.
Molly silently pulled her arm free, walked to Baili Pangpang, and said coolly:
“Move, make room.”
“Huh? Oh, sure, sure!”
Thus all eight squeezed onto one rock, happily watching the two fighters kill each other.
“Captain, go! Captain’s the coolest!!” Vortex bellowed.
Baili Pangpang wouldn’t be outdone. “Qiye, crush him!!”
“Captain, slice him!” Rose yelled.
Baili Pangpang: “Qiye is mighty!!”
“Captain rocks!” Moon Ghost joined.
“Qiye… cough-cough…” Baili Pangpang rubbed his throat, then looked at silent Molly, Shen Qingzhu, and Cao Yuan. “You guys chant too—I can’t out-shout them alone.”
Shen Qingzhu turned away, ignoring him. Molly rubbed her nose and finally managed:
“I’m… not that close to him…”
Cao Yuan, however, hesitated, then croaked in his ruined voice:
“Lin Qiye… cough! Awe… cough-cough… some!!”
“Bro… bro, forget it, let me—” Baili Pangpang couldn’t bear it.
“No, let go! Cough-cough… Qiye rocks!”
“Man, no need to push yourself!”
“Qiye… awe… some!”
“…”
Clang-clang-clang-clang-clang!!
Sparks flew. Hearing the distant cheers, both fighters shuddered.
After a moment Wang Mian lifted his chin proudly.
“Hear that? My support’s louder.”
Lin Qiye: …
“You’ve opened your God’s Ruins so many times—your mental power’s almost dry,” Lin Qiye said, ignoring the boast.
“Your body’s about to collapse too,” Wang Mian shot back. “I’ve fought for ages; my physique is far beyond normal. You’re just an ordinary high-schooler—lasting this long already surprises me.”
“I can still fight.”
“Is winning this match that important to you?”
“I don’t care about winning or losing.” Lin Qiye shook his head calmly. “I just want to give it everything I have.”
