# 60
**Chapter 60: One Shot, One Hole**
Though it wasn’t night yet and [Starry Dancer] couldn’t activate, relying solely on Lin Qiye’s monstrous dynamic vision and combat instincts, dodging the Nanda Snake Demon didn’t seem too difficult.
The problem was, this was a music room—narrow and cramped. Lin Qiye’s mobility was severely limited here.
So, without hesitation, he bolted out the door and sprinted out of the arts building.
The moment Lin Qiye stepped out, the Nanda Snake Demon smashed through the wall of the music room. Its long, serpentine body slithered along the corridor walls at terrifying speed, reaching Lin Qiye’s head in an instant.
*Shhhhk!*
A sharp tearing sound cut through the air as the demon’s claws slashed down toward Lin Qiye’s neck. But Lin Qiye’s back might as well have had eyes—he rolled forward just in time, narrowly avoiding the strike.
Using the momentum, he sprang up from the ground, both hands gripping the hilt of his Straight Blade, and thrust upward with pinpoint accuracy into the snake demon’s abdomen!
The entire sequence flowed like water, as if he’d calculated every move in advance.
The snake demon’s pupils shrank. Its body twisted violently, barely avoiding a fatal hit, but the blade still carved a long gash into its flesh.
It shrieked, coiling its body as its massive jaws lunged at Lin Qiye.
Lin Qiye quickly raised his Straight Blade to block, but the demon’s bite was too powerful—it clamped down on the blade, lifted its head, and whipped Lin Qiye around like a ragdoll before flinging him away!
Lin Qiye crashed through a window, flew across the corridor, and plummeted from the second floor.
Luckily, the ground below was covered in greenery. Mid-air, Lin Qiye grabbed a tree branch, swung to break his fall, and landed on the grass.
He staggered to his feet, wincing. Nothing was broken, but the pain was real.
At the same time, the Nanda Snake Demon burst through the window and leaped down from the second floor. Its claws gleamed under the dark red sky as it dove straight for Lin Qiye.
Lin Qiye dodged backward, avoiding the demon’s landing, then—almost as if he’d predicted it—stepped forward and slashed his Straight Blade toward the snake’s neck!
*Clang! Clang! Clang!*
Several sharp clashes rang out as blade met claw. Just as the demon was about to counter, Lin Qiye’s eyes flared with a blinding golden light!
A surge of divine pressure silently crashed into the snake demon’s mind. The suppression from a higher life form shattered its focus for a moment—its body froze.
In that instant, Lin Qiye crossed his blade in a slashing X, carving two bloody wounds into the demon’s chest.
The snake demon howled in pain and retreated several meters, its eyes locked on Lin Qiye. It hadn’t expected a mere “Lan” realm kid to be this strong.
It hesitated.
Keep fighting? It might still lose. And if the other two Night Watch members arrived, it would be dead for sure.
But if it missed this chance, would it ever get another?
As it wavered, a lithe figure shot toward them like an arrow, rose-colored flames blooming beneath her feet—blindingly fast.
Lin Qiye smiled when he saw her.
The moment the snake demon saw her, it didn’t hesitate—it turned and slithered back into the arts building at lightning speed, vanishing behind walls and rooms.
“Where is it?” Hongying shouted from a hundred meters away, long spear on her back.
“Second floor, far left classroom! It’s trying to escape through the window!” Lin Qiye’s perception had never lost track of it. He stared at the classroom and answered.
“Got it.”
Using her momentum, Hongying bent her knees and launched herself upward like a cannonball, rose flames blazing beneath her!
She leaped three stories high.
Mid-air, she pulled the spear from her back. A wave of scorching heat erupted around her.
She tossed the spear lightly in front of her, spun mid-air, her tied-back hair whipping in the wind.
The spear rotated naturally. When the tip aligned with the classroom, Hongying’s right foot, fueled by the spin and wrapped in roaring flames, slammed into the spear’s end!
The flame-wreathed spear shot through the sky like lightning, leaving a faint scorch mark in the air—straight into the classroom!
**BOOM—!!**
In the blink of an eye, a red beam pierced straight through the entire arts building!
It blew a five-meter-wide hole in the structure!
The spear impaled the fleeing snake demon, nailing it to the ground and carving out a massive crater!
Dust exploded everywhere!
Lin Qiye stood below, staring in stunned silence at the building now with a gaping hole.
At that moment, he finally understood why the Nanda Snake Demon’s threat level was rated “weak” by others…
Hongying landed and walked over, circling Lin Qiye to check him over.
“Little Qiye, you hurt?”
“N-no…”
“Good.” She patted his shoulder and headed toward the demon. “Come on, let’s check. If nothing went wrong, it’s dead.”
They walked to the back of the building and found the demon pinned in a massive crater, the spear through its body.
Hongying yanked the spear out, slung it over her shoulder, and nudged the corpse with her foot. No life left.
“Yup, dead.” She nodded, satisfied, and stretched. “Finally done… I’m exhausted. All that thinking today. If only we’d just fought it out from the start.”
She climbed out of the crater, brushing dust off her uniform.
“Little Qiye, come on—dinner’s on me!” She grinned. “It’s your first mission completion, we gotta celebrate—huh?”
She took a few steps, then paused. Something felt off. She turned—Lin Qiye was still standing in the crater.
“What’s wrong?” She walked back, puzzled.
Lin Qiye stared down at the snake demon’s corpse, his brow furrowing tighter.
“Something’s not right…”
