# 11
**Chapter 11: The Door Opens**
Lin Qiye was truly exhausted.
Both mentally and physically.
He really hadn’t expected that on his first day transferring to a new school, something like this would happen—encountering a monster, being betrayed by a classmate, narrowly fighting for his life, inexplicably opening his eyes, and then some random superpowered uncle jumping out of nowhere before he quietly slipped away…
Lin Qiye wasn’t stupid. He knew that what he had experienced tonight definitely involved the hidden side of this world. The face-eating monster, the golden light that had burst from his body, and the man who had single-handedly taken down the monster—none of it was normal.
That man wasn’t an ordinary person. Judging from how he had used a walkie-talkie to report the situation, there had to be a massive organization behind him—one that operated in the shadows, likely specializing in dealing with strange and supernatural events.
He had seen the light coming from Lin Qiye’s body. Maybe he had even seen Lin Qiye kill the monster. That was probably why he wanted to recruit him.
To say Lin Qiye wasn’t curious at all would be a lie. He wanted to know what exactly he had encountered tonight, and what had happened to his own body. But he didn’t want to get dragged into this vortex just because of curiosity.
Some secrets, once known, could never be escaped.
He didn’t want to be some hero who protected humanity. The only thing he wanted to protect…
Was his own home.
Soon, he drifted off to sleep.
…
The familiar fog descended once again.
In the dream, Lin Qiye looked around and sighed helplessly. “Still won’t leave me alone? Fighting monsters while I’m awake, and now knocking on doors while I’m asleep. What a hard life…”
Lin Qiye walked forward with practiced ease. Soon, the outline of a psychiatric hospital appeared before him.
On the old plaque to his right, a line of text was engraved:
—*Asylum of the Gods*.
Lin Qiye stopped in front of the gate and reached for the iron ring on the door. The moment his fingertips touched it, the ground trembled slightly!
The surrounding fog suddenly began to churn.
Lin Qiye gripped the ring, utterly confused.
What the hell? I haven’t even knocked yet, and it’s already shaking?
This never happened before.
Suddenly, a thought flashed through his mind like lightning.
Could it be… because he had opened his eyes today?
Lin Qiye lowered his head and looked at his body in the dream. His eyes gradually lit up.
In the past, whenever Lin Qiye appeared in dreams, his body had been semi-transparent—fragile, like drifting mist.
But today, his body was noticeably more solid. Though it still lacked physical form, it was no longer translucent.
He raised his head sharply and stared at the door that had blocked him for five years. His gaze grew hotter.
Today… maybe it’ll work!
He took a deep breath, clenched the iron ring tightly, and slammed it against the door!
**“Dong—!”**
An ancient bell rang out from within the psychiatric hospital, several times louder than before. Fortunately, Lin Qiye had no physical body right now—otherwise, his eardrums would’ve been ringing.
The moment the bell sounded, the entire hospital shook violently again!
There’s hope! Lin Qiye’s eyes lit up.
**“Dong—!**
**“Dong—!!”**
**“Dong—!!!”**
Without stopping, Lin Qiye struck the door three more times. The hospital shook as if an earthquake had struck!
Finally, after the last strike, a loud boom echoed from within, and everything fell silent again…
Just as Lin Qiye was about to strike again, the door in front of him let out a low creak and slowly began to move.
The door… had opened.
**“Boom—thud!”**
Once the door was fully open, a long, ancient, and dimly lit corridor appeared before Lin Qiye.
The floor of the corridor was made of some unknown material that emitted a faint glow. Burning orbs of light hung on the walls, casting an eerie and mysterious atmosphere.
Lin Qiye walked along the corridor and soon came to a fork. Above it hung a modern-looking sign.
“Left is the ward area, right is the activity area…” Lin Qiye muttered as he read the sign. “This layout… it’s exactly the same as the psychiatric hospital I stayed in back then.”
After hesitating for a moment, Lin Qiye stepped into the activity area.
There weren’t many rooms, but everything was there—a multimedia room for watching TV and movies, a lounge for playing chess and relaxing, a study room for reading and learning… There was even a circular open-air lawn inside the building, filled with various exercise equipment.
“Exactly the same. This dream is really weird,” Lin Qiye muttered, frowning in confusion.
After exploring the activity area, he turned back and headed toward the ward area.
But when he reached the entrance, he suddenly stopped.
“This… is different,” he murmured, staring at the dark and monotonous corridor ahead.
He clearly remembered that back at Sunshine Psychiatric Hospital, the wards had multiple floors. And while the facilities hadn’t been luxurious, they had at least been clean and tidy.
But the ward area in front of him now had only one floor—and only six rooms.
The doors of these six rooms were covered in strange symbols and patterns, densely packed, like some kind of seal. Just looking at them made Lin Qiye dizzy.
He forced himself to look away and steady his mind.
Above each door hung an ancient nameplate, each with a different symbol.
For example, the first room he stood in front of had a nameplate with a large black circle.
The second room’s nameplate showed something that looked like both a staff and a pen.
Lin Qiye walked down the corridor until he reached the sixth and final room, but he still couldn’t make sense of the symbols.
He stared at the eerie door in front of him, lost in thought.
In this dream psychiatric hospital, only the ward area was different from the Sunshine Psychiatric Hospital he remembered.
So… were there really patients inside these rooms?
Or, as the name of this place suggested, were the occupants… gods?
After a moment of hesitation, Lin Qiye slowly reached for the handle of the sixth room.
It wasn’t recklessness. On one hand, this was his dream—so even if something went wrong, it wouldn’t affect him much in reality. On the other hand, he had knocked on this hospital’s door every day for five years just to get in. He didn’t want to leave without understanding anything.
And deep down, he had a feeling that maybe this psychiatric hospital held some secret related to him.
Otherwise, why would its layout be identical to the Sunshine Psychiatric Hospital he had once stayed in?
Lin Qiye’s hand slowly approached. His fingertips gently touched the handle, and a cool sensation spread through them.
There was no resistance or pain—his hand naturally wrapped around the handle.
He pulled hard!
The door didn’t budge.
He planted his feet and pulled again with all his strength!
Still nothing.
Lin Qiye gave up on that door and moved to the fifth room. He pulled.
Still locked.
Fourth room. Third. Second…
He tried them all. Not a single door opened.
Finally, he stood in front of the first room.
Expecting failure, Lin Qiye yanked the handle.
**“Click—!”**
A soft sound came from the handle. The complex patterns engraved on the door suddenly cracked and began to dissolve into the air.
Lin Qiye jumped back in shock, staring wide-eyed!
The door… had opened.
