Chapter 984: Four Broke Bastards
The man came over again, this time sitting next to the woman. They exchanged names, and he asked about the circumstances of her injury. Upon learning that she had been ganged up on by other players over team reward distribution, the refined man, Ye Kaihua, couldn't help but show a hint of anger. "Can't even follow the basic rules of the game. People like that won't last long in this game!"
The female player, Liang Yi, gave a bitter smile. "I guess I was just unlucky."
"There are private restrooms on the train. You'll be safe once you board," Ye Kaihua comforted her.
"That's not necessarily true," the stubbly man interjected. "A lamb walking among wolves—can you really expect the wolves to go vegetarian?"
"We're all human. If you want to see yourself as a mindless beast, don't drag others into it," Ye Kaihua said with a cold laugh.
This time, the stubbly man truly exploded. In a flash, he charged at Ye Kaihua. Their items clashed, producing a dull thud before both of them retreated. They each held close-combat items in their hands but stopped just before attacking again, both turning to look at the same spot.
The chair that had been caught in the crossfire was now a wreck. Liang Yi, who had been sitting on it, had also stood up. Like the two men locked in confrontation, she turned her head to look at the man standing to the side.
Xu Huo stood there, merely radiating coldness, yet he exuded an undeniable pressure on the three of them.
To achieve this level without using any items or traits meant either a vast gap in strength or that he was a Super Evolver!
After a brief exchange of glances, Ye Kaihua was the first to retract his item. "This is a station. Disturbing others' rest isn't gentlemanly behavior."
Although the stubbly man also withdrew, his expression was grim, clearly holding a grudge.
This brief conflict came to an end. The players who hadn't been involved had varied expressions but remained silent.
The train hadn't arrived yet, so Xu Huo found another place to sit.
No one disturbed him this time, and the station remained quiet until the train arrived.
Not all the players in the station were boarding the same train. After three trains had passed, the Dimension Train heading to the E20 wormhole point finally arrived. When Xu Huo boarded, he found Ye Kaihua, Liang Yi, and the stubbly man in the same carriage as him.
There were already eight players in the carriage. These weren't new arrivals; their resting area was cluttered with food, drinks, and entertainment items. Four were playing cards, while two were fiddling with their communicators, barely reacting to the newcomers, continuing with whatever they were doing.
These eight people had also occupied the restrooms, leaving four rooms near the center of the carriage.
Xu Huo glanced at the card players and chose a room at the back of the carriage.
The stubbly man quickly picked one at the front. Ye Kaihua and Liang Yi exchanged a look before choosing positions staggered from each other.
Given Liang Yi's condition, resting in a room was the safest option. However, the players in the same carriage had no intention of letting easy prey slip by. A man with tattooed arms threw down his cards, a long blade appearing in his hand, and swung it directly at the back of her neck!
Liang Yi reacted swiftly, first surrounding herself with a metal item, then saying to the man, "Don't come near." The man, who was right in front of her, automatically moved back three meters.
But he had companions.
Two more from the card game stepped out, surrounding Liang Yi. One of them raised a hand, and whether it was a trait or an item, the metal block in her hand fell to the ground, pulled by an invisible force into the tattooed man's grasp!
Having lost one item, Liang Yi quickly brought out a new defensive item, but it couldn't stop another tattooed man's kick. His shoes seemed to be an item as well, piercing through the defensive barrier with one blow and striking her chest heavily.
Liang Yi staggered back several steps. Just as she pulled out another item, her right hand was severed at the wrist. In her pain, she cast a desperate look at Ye Kaihua, who was standing near the front door. Seeing his hesitation, she used a path-clearing item to reach the door of Xu Huo's room.
The moment she stood at the door, several fine needles shot by the tattooed man all embedded themselves into the room!
The room door opened almost simultaneously. The fine metal needles that had flown inside were nowhere to be seen. Xu Huo stepped out and raised his hand toward the tattooed man, slapping him from two or three meters away. The tattooed man, along with his defensive item, crashed into the carriage wall!
As he flew, he knocked over the table in the living area. The middle-aged man who had been sitting calmly stood up, making a grasping motion toward Xu Huo's throat from a distance.
"Inviolable Domain" had already taken effect, and the space barrier completely blocked the attack. Ordinary items were useless, and clearly, none of these people had traits specifically targeting space items. So, although they launched several attacks within three seconds, none of them worked.
The moment "Inviolable Domain" ended, Xu Huo flashed to the nearest player, tore through their space item defense with his bare hands, and slit their throat with a single stroke!
While "Three Hundred and Sixty Defenses" blocked several attacks, Xu Huo, having successfully killed one, moved on to the next target. This one also died without surprise. Those slower in speed didn't even have a chance to strike back, offering up their heads cleanly.
"Send You a Thousand Miles!" The middle-aged man, shocked, couldn't track Xu Huo's position. Relying on instinct, he retreated to a corner and used his trait in front of him.
This move was effective, but the trait had a time limit. Xu Huo didn't waste time either, turning toward the tattooed man.
Having witnessed the deaths of his two companions, the tattooed man hid inside a metal box, leaving two robots to buy time.
Dense bullets tore through the carriage, like a torrential rain of shrapnel flying everywhere. But this only delayed things... and not for long. In less than three seconds, the two robots were destroyed by "Eye of the Dead," along with the item box and the man inside, all cut in half!
Having dealt with that, Xu Huo sensed the middle-aged man's movements a few meters away. Without turning back, he shifted to the room on the same side.
The middle-aged man was standing in the corner between a room and the carriage wall, a blind spot near the rear door. But this targeted trait didn't succeed in killing Xu Huo—instead, it blew up the stubbly man's room door!
The specially made glass material wasn't easily damaged, and the door being blown to pieces showed the trait's power. Unfortunately, it missed its target. Xu Huo lightly touched his ring, reappeared in front of the middle-aged man, and with a horizontal slash of his long blade, sent him to the afterlife.
"Bang!" The moment his body fell, something like a bomb rolled to the ground. With a soft sound, it unleashed power far beyond its appearance, completely destroying the entire living area. Tables, chairs, and decorations were obliterated, though it left no mark on the carriage itself.
Of course, it didn't harm Xu Huo, who was right next to it. Brushing off non-existent dust from his clothes, he said coldly, "Four broke bastards."
