Chapter 924: Can You Give Me Some Face
Seeing the person opposite, the two uncontrollable individuals cursed out at the same time, hurling their items at each other. Both sides also had defensive items, and after neutralizing each other's items, they inevitably collided, though a layer of defensive shield separated them—unfortunately, it was pierced by a hedgehog-shaped orb Shangguan Xi held in her hand, and both of them screamed in pain!
"Ah!!!" The third scream came from the side. The force binding them vanished instantly. As they each stepped back and turned, they saw the player who had pushed them together collapsing to the ground. Standing behind him, Xu Huo gripped a bloodstained sword, his gaze icy as he stared at them.
Both the hostile player and the teammate Shangguan Xi involuntarily took a step back, though the latter quickly recovered and moved to cut off the player's escape route.
The player seemed intent on fleeing into the tent, but before he could break through Shangguan Xi's defense, a beam of light rose from the ground, completely blocking his entry into the tent.
"This tent isn't your item?" Xu Huo noticed the player's evasive movements and suddenly realized this.
However, the player who had lost his companion clearly didn't want to keep fighting. He waved a small flag, and in an instant, the thick snow surged exponentially, nearly engulfing them in the blizzard!
Xu Huo immediately felt a numbing cold, his limbs growing sluggish. Just then, a metal spike as thick as an arm pierced through the snowstorm. Though it was deflected to the side by "Moving Metal," its intense heat still deformed the metal block!
His eyes darkening, Xu Huo used the strings and shoes to lift himself into the air. In fact, the blizzard created by the item wasn't that large; from the outside, it looked more like a spinning feather ball, with three red-hot metal pillars embedded in it.
Unsure if this metal item could damage the shelter, he first searched for the player hiding in the shadows. Once he locked onto the target, he tossed the illumination item into the air. The blinding light from its flipping descent momentarily drew the player's attention, and he simultaneously activated "Standardized Weightlessness," "Important Call," and "Danger Makes People Blind." Though not all items worked, they still slowed the opponent's movements.
In that split second, the illumination item landed on the snow. Its dim light pierced through the snow, just illuminating the player controlling the blizzard. In the blink of an eye, Xu Huo appeared behind him!
"I've been waiting for you!" The player, who seemed frozen a moment ago, immediately turned and shouted at the person behind him, "You stepped in my footprints!"
In the snow, he had left a pair of deep footprints, and like a copy, identical footprints quickly appeared behind them, forming a path that seemed to pull Xu Huo's feet into it.
Unfortunately, Xu Huo wasn't stepping on the ground. Maintaining a short distance, he raised his right hand and struck the opponent from afar—this was the item "A Slap from the Gods" he had taken from the female player he killed earlier, used once before against the tattooed man.
The player used a defensive item, but the force of this slap was enough to cover an entire adult. Under the protection of the item, the opponent rolled into the blizzard ball.
The moment he entered, the blizzard returned to normal. Shangguan Xi, who had been inside all along, let out a sinister laugh and threw a metal ball onto the ground. The flowing metal ball automatically split along the ground and quickly extended into the air. In less than a breath, it formed a sizable cage, trapping the player inside!
"Now you'll know what it's like to lose control!" An elliptical water orb then covered his head!
The player trapped in the water orb had already put on a defensive mask. Ignoring the furious Shangguan Xi, he raised his hand, and the three metal pillars that had disappeared into the blizzard shot in from different directions, not only destroying the cage but also piercing the water orb!
Shangguan Xi had already dodged one round of attacks and lost an item. Avoiding a direct confrontation, he said, "I don't believe you can keep using that item!"
The player surrounded by metal pillars sneered, "Don't mention C-grade items; even B-grade items wouldn't dare touch it!"
But with a series of hissing sounds, the smugness on his face vanished.
Ordinary items would naturally fear melting, but items that were already in a molten state didn't have to worry as much. Xu Huo gripped the bracelet, and the molten metal spraying from it automatically flew toward the metal pillars, attempting to wrap around and solidify them. Solidification was impossible, but the process from solid to molten wasn't instantaneous, creating a brief window of contact.
With just a short direct touch, "Life Core" could take effect!
Under the player's shocked and pained expression, two of the metal pillars turned to powder, along with the metal cage that had been in direct contact.
"My item..." Shangguan Xi blurted out, but the next second, he chalked up the loss to the enemy. Bending down, he threw a tripwire at the opponent. The rope instantly looped around the player's feet. Seeing the situation turn unfavorable, the player pulled out the small flag again, but failed to wave it because Shangguan Xi's rope item automatically bound along his body, pinning his hands behind his back!
Before the item could be deactivated, the player also began to float weightlessly. Seeming to have lost the ability to fight back, Shangguan Xi urgently said, "Brother Xu, let me kill this one!"
As he spoke, he raised a small knife and made a throat-slitting gesture toward himself—this item naturally wouldn't work on him, but after the knife swung, no one died. Shangguan Xi was slightly surprised, then moved forward, but before he could take two steps, the snow beneath his feet churned, carrying him rapidly backward!
Xu Huo also moved backward, but he first teleported through space to grab the player bound by the item. After knocking him unconscious, he was pushed back by the shifting space, landing back on top of the shelter.
"Someone's coming!" Shangguan Xi leaned against the shelter and looked up.
Xu Huo looked behind the tent. As the space shifted, a small metal stand appeared there—the lightning rod-shaped item Shangguan Xi had mentioned.
The person truly controlling the item was in the woods, along with another individual.
"Friend, can you give me some face and let my partner go?" A drifting, indistinct voice came from the woods.
But this trick failed to obscure the location. Xu Huo stared directly at a large tree and said, "I have a question. Did you take my car?"
The person behind the tree paused for a moment before replying, "Transporting live samples is inconvenient. If you agree, could we hitch a ride?"
