Chapter 894: Warning

Although three carriages were lost, the train's operation was not significantly affected. As it moved forward calmly, players in the other carriages began to stir.

The player from the room opposite Xu Huo stepped out.

This player had not shown himself during the day. After coming out, he first lingered in the living room for a while, then walked to the short-haired female player's door and stood there for about half a minute.

After half a minute, he turned and left, coming to stand before the one-eyed man's door, maintaining a two-step distance, clearly intending to stand there as before. Unfortunately, the one-eyed man did not tolerate him. As the room door silently opened, that player was sent flying into the room behind him, pinned to it by a prop's power, unable to get down.

He couldn't get down, but the one-eyed man across from him couldn't get out either. The one-eyed man was blocked in his room by an invisible force. After testing with his dagger and finding he couldn't break through, he quickly adjusted his approach, using a prop to melt a large hole in the room's wall.

"Trying to trap me like this?" The one-eyed man sneered, but as soon as he stepped out, he immediately covered his mouth and nose and retreated back into the room. Unfortunately, the damaged room was unusable and naturally couldn't isolate the air. He put on a protective mask, jumped out of the room, and immediately spent money to open the adjacent room.

However, just as the room door opened, the player stuck to the wall was pulled like a magnet onto the one-eyed man's back. His arms spread wide and embraced him, and in an instant, the two became rigid like conjoined twins—or rather, the one-eyed man became rigid. As he turned his head, a prop dropped to the ground, and an invisible force knocked the player behind him away.

But by the time that player had latched on, the two had already entered the room. So even though they were separated by the prop, that player only ended up hitting the door as it closed.

With the inside and outside cut off from view, only the continuous sounds of fighting could be heard. Finally, someone screamed, and the noise abruptly stopped.

A few seconds later, chewing and swallowing sounds came from the room.

Day soon broke.

The few people staying in the rooms came out one after another. The signs of the fight were still there. The short-haired female player called the attendant to clean up, and no one mentioned the previous night's events. Just like during the day, the female player sat in the middle, and the player with the mechanical dog went to the window to look at the scenery.

The attendant soon came to take away two broken pieces of furniture, ignoring the two rooms with holes and bloodstains at the door.

The one-eyed man had died last night. Shangguan Xi couldn't help but open that room, then quickly closed it after two seconds.

"Damn, there's nothing left but the inedible parts." Walking over to Xu Huo, he lowered his voice and asked, "What do you think he was doing standing outside the door for that while last night?"

"Probably fishing," Xu Huo said. "Seeing who was stupid enough to come out."

As soon as he said this, the three players present all turned to look at him.

Xu Huo simply said, "It's safest to stay in your room at night."

That was true, but who knew what props that cannibal player had? Staying in the room wasn't necessarily safe either.

"Will he come out again tonight?" Shangguan Xi whispered.

"Maybe he had his fill last night." Xu Huo planned to go to the dining car for breakfast and asked if he wanted to come along.

Shangguan Xi glanced warily at the cannibal player's tightly closed door, then followed his steps. After leaving the carriage, he said, "Should we switch carriages? A cannibal player who can reach C-rank must have powerful props."

"Switching isn't necessarily safe either," Xu Huo said. "There's only one cannibal player in Car 16, but you can't say the same for the other carriages."

They happened to pass through Car 17. Everything that could be smashed in this carriage had been smashed. Bloodstains were everywhere on the floor, and even some suspected internal organs were scattered around. It was unclear how many players were still alive here, but two were clearly uninterested in the food provided by the train. They sat on the sofa, and on the blood-smeared table in front of them was a row of crystal cups, each filled with bright red liquid.

When they saw Xu Huo and Shangguan Xi, one of them raised his glass in a toast and downed the liquid in one gulp. His greedy, urgent posture caused the liquid to spill, dripping from the corners of his mouth onto his clothes.

It wasn't a pretty sight.

Xu Huo ignored their covetous yet threatening gazes and entered the dining car behind them as usual.

Shangguan Xi's expression wasn't good. After sitting down, he said, "Better to eat in the carriage from now on."

Starting from Car 19, the three carriages behind were empty, so only Car 18 and the two carriages ahead came to this dining car.

Yesterday, four people could be seen in the dining car. Today, the couple-like players weren't there. The female player reading a book and the bandaged male player were still in the same spots, and two more injured people had appeared—it was unclear if they came from Car 18 or Car 17.

And the situation in Car 18 wasn't much better. Only two living players remained in that carriage.

As their levels rose, the internal fighting among players had clearly intensified.

By the time the attendant passed through the carriages to deliver breakfast to the dining car, the two cannibal players from Car 17 also entered. They sat at the table next to Xu Huo and Shangguan Xi, one on each side, staring at them.

Almost as soon as they sat down, Shangguan Xi involuntarily tensed up, entering a combat-ready state, and even replaced his utensils with props.

This made the two cannibal players laugh. The one on the left, a buzz-cut man, stood up and moved toward them. At that moment, Xu Huo lightly tapped his plate, raised his head, and looked directly at him. "I think you'd better not disturb our meal. What do you think?"

The buzz-cut man let out a "Ha!" and turned to speak, but the dining table that was right in front of him suddenly stretched away. It was as if the man and the table were at opposite ends of a pulling force. Xu Huo and Shangguan Xi, sitting at the table, instantly moved backward, while the buzz-cut man himself was also uncontrollably pushed back!

"Bang!" The buzz-cut man staggered two steps and crashed into the table behind him. When he looked at Xu Huo again, his expression changed slightly. He gritted his teeth, stared at him for two seconds, then turned and went back to his carriage.

His companion didn't understand what had happened but had enough sense to cast a wary glance at Xu Huo before leaving as well.

The process of mental interference lasted only a few seconds. Shangguan Xi also didn't understand what had happened. He looked back and forth, his expression full of questions as if he wanted to ask something, but at that moment, the female player sitting behind them walked over. "Can I sit here?"

Xu Huo glanced at the book in her hand. She caught the hint and put the book away before sitting down. She set her gaze on the table and then said, "The breakfast provided by the train includes a fresh fish dish. It tastes pretty good. How about I treat you two to some?"

Xu Huo didn't say anything, so Shangguan Xi replied, "No need, no need. We ordered enough to eat."

The female player let out a "Pfft" laugh. "If you keep this up, how am I supposed to continue the conversation? I'll be too embarrassed to sit here."

She had a unique sense of approachability, and Shangguan Xi couldn't help but laugh too.
