Chapter 638: Deadly Fight in the Rain

Xu Huo had originally been heading to the reservoir on Wen Mountain, but he happened to run into these people here.

This low-lying area at the foot of Wen Mountain was half water and half mud, originally overgrown with water plants. From above, the water quality looked good, but now the depression had turned into an ink pool, appearing to be formed by the gathering of black rain. However, upon closer observation, one could see that while raindrops were falling on the water surface, they were mixed with droplets flying upward in reverse.

The air above the entire depression was like a distorted space, with water going up and water going down. Looking at the oppressive black clouds in the sky, the answer was obvious—this was the origin of the black rain!

Seeing three of the numbers that had risen to "10" moving toward him, he crushed out his cigarette and tossed it into the luggage compartment, then turned and sprinted toward the woods behind him!

Under the acceleration of the sprint, the weight of the rain hitting his body multiplied, but this was nothing for a player wearing a protective suit. However, just as Xu Huo was about to enter the woods, he abruptly stopped, raising the Severance Gate in front of him:

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

Bullet-like raindrops all struck the gate. When the sound subsided, he propped himself on the gate and vaulted onto a tree. As the gate retracted, he had already jumped to the next tree.

The dense woods formed a natural barrier. The thick leaves blocked part of the black rain, and the sturdy tree trunks also deflected some of the bullet-like raindrops.

Behind him, three players in prop raincoats slipped into the woods. The one in the middle gestured, and the two on either side flanked him from both directions. Their speed wasn't particularly fast, but they moved in arcs that curved inward, and as they ran, they exhibited a strange acceleration, catching up to Xu Huo after just a few steps.

"Listen to the traffic cop, retreat!" one of the raincoat-wearing men said in broken Chinese.

Xu Huo heard the voice and involuntarily stopped in his tracks, though he didn't retreat as instructed.

The two raincoat-wearing men were also momentarily stunned. One of them waved a hand at Xu Huo's back, and a strong wind swept in from the side, forcefully knocking him off the tree!

The raincoat-wearing man charged forward, but the falling Xu Huo suddenly halted in midair, then changed direction and flew backward.

"Flight prop!" one of the raincoat-wearing men said.

"Not fast!" the other added.

The two worked in perfect coordination. Almost as soon as Xu Huo moved, they took an arc and cut in front of him.

Xu Huo drew his Water Blade Gun and aimed at one of them, forcing him to create an opening. He then hung onto a tree, and the cutting surface formed by the Crimson Sword flashed briefly in the woods before quickly disappearing.

The raincoat-wearing man used a defense prop to block the sword's cutting surface, then casually launched a flare. The flare screeched into the sky, and Xu Huo's head lifted along with it, temporarily losing control of his field of vision.

The raincoat-wearing man seized the opportunity to advance, but at that moment, "Plant's Lament" flew from Xu Huo's hand. The piercing, shrill sound forced them to stop and cover their ears.

The three were locked in a stalemate, but a set of flying shackles interrupted them. Xu Huo dodged urgently, but his right foot was still caught. The prop was special—the other end was directly connected to the ground.

The prop "Universal Lubricant" didn't remove the shackles. He quickly slashed a sword in the direction of the third raincoat-wearing man, then crouched and wiped his hand over the shackles. The metal prop instantly dissolved into powder!

"Rain Swallow!" the third raincoat-wearing man spread his hands, and two black shadows flew out from his sleeves. Their speed was so fast they seemed to cut through the rain curtain, arcing sharply toward Xu Huo!

"Stop right there!"

"This place is not passable!"

The other two raincoat-wearing men used stagnation props at the same time. Xu Huo's feet couldn't move. Facing the three men ahead, he threw out the Kite String and also used "Two-Part Magic" and "Orb of Murmurs"!

"Ding! Ding! Ding!" Three consecutive attacks were all blocked by "Moving Metal." Realizing that "Rain Swallow" could lock on and attack repeatedly, Xu Huo pulled the Kite String back, dragging the nearest raincoat-wearing man toward him!

A person caught by the Kite String would have their body weight reduced, making it impossible to exert force from their feet. Seeing that he couldn't control his body, the raincoat-wearing man pulled out an iron disc prop. The thing was astonishingly heavy and forcibly pressed him to the ground!

At the same time, the other raincoat-wearing man broke free from "Two-Part Magic" and charged at Xu Huo, while "Rain Swallow" flew in from behind!

The flying dart and "Rain Swallow" attacked from front and back. Xu Huo was pinned in place and couldn't move, with no way to dodge. To prevent him from using props to block, the raincoat-wearing man who had used "Rain Swallow" flashed to his right side, reaching out with a metal-gloved hand to grab his right arm: "Muscle soreness...!"

But at that moment, the raincoat-wearing man's hand grabbed empty air. The two props that had passed through Xu Huo's body also struck the tree not far away as if passing through air!

Before the three could react, the two metal blades embedded in the tree turned to powder just like the shackles!

The raincoat-wearing man kneeling on the ground used the iron disc to hold down the Kite String and was about to cut the string on his chest with scissors. Unexpectedly, with one snip, what he cut was his own prop raincoat!

The black rain flowed in through the tear. The raincoat-wearing man recoiled in shock, and his companion beside him quickly pulled him back. "Careful!"

The two turned around, only to find that behind them, it had somehow become that depression.

All three realized something was wrong, but at that moment, a pitch-black arm reached out from under the water in the depression. Dry, withered fingers clamped onto the raincoat-wearing man's shoulder!

"Come down and keep me company... come down and keep me company..."

More and more hands emerged from the water. The raincoat-wearing man with his back to the depression struggled but couldn't escape, and was pulled down into the water, his mouth and nose gradually submerged.

The raincoat-wearing man crouching beside him was also affected. He desperately grabbed his companion's hand and pulled outward, but not only did he fail to save him, his own legs began to sink as well. By the time he wanted to give up, it was too late. He could only sink into the depression and call for help: "C, save me!"

C was the raincoat-wearing man who had used "Rain Swallow." He drew his gun and fired wildly to the left and right of the two men. "Look clearly, there's nothing around you!"

Unfortunately, the two were lost in the illusion. One lay on the ground, the other stood frozen in place, both strangling themselves while desperately calling for help.

"Come out!" C fired randomly around him. The bullets seemed to stir up some movement. He leaped from his spot and shot behind a large tree, but when he raised his gun, he saw a woman's face.

"Darling..."

"Bang!" The gunshot rang out without hesitation. C quickly retreated from behind the tree, abandoned his two companions, and withdrew toward the depression, using his communicator to contact the others.

But when he raised his hand, he realized that the back of his hand and his palm had turned black at some point. Looking again, he found that his raincoat had long been torn!

"This isn't alien species poison..." The toxin spread too quickly. C felt he might still be in the illusion, so he stabbed his own arm with a knife...
