# Chapter 390: The Light Gentleman

"The background information of some people who commissioned him has also been verified. They're just petty thieves, nothing to do with this matter." Shi Youzhi gestured for him to look closely at the video. "See if you can find anything different."

As it turned out, Xu Huo did spot a familiar face—Deng Xuan.

However, the two people in the video were only buying and selling stimulants.

The timing was a bit coincidental. It was the same day he had been followed.

Actually, looking at these videos alone, it was impossible to connect these incidents. But Xu Huo had a gut feeling that Deng Xuan was related to the attack on the base personnel.

This was very interesting. If Rongxin Group's goods came by sea, why would they need to destroy stations at other sites outside the base city?

So his earlier speculation about the storage room might not be correct.

"There is one person I've seen before." He turned back to Shi Youzhi and said, "On the train when I came to District 011, he was peddling props and potions."

Shi Youzhi nodded, clearly aware. "That man is called Deng Xuan. He often appears on trains and hasn't caused any trouble."

"By the way, would you like to work at the base?"

Xu Huo was surprised. "You're recruiting?"

Shi Youzhi glanced at him. "Isn't that why you came here? Contract staff can't get Gray Player status, but props and potions can be provided at cost. If you want to get a couple of good props, it's much cheaper than outside."

Xu Huo gave a wry smile. "I don't have any money right now."

Shi Youzhi wasn't surprised. "Being poor is the norm. Get used to it. Consider this a favor you've done. When the month-end settlement comes, I'll add a bonus for you."

Xu Huo thanked him and then asked, "Do employees get an internal price... Can I buy A-grade props or Super props?"

Shi Youzhi didn't even lift his eyelids. "I don't have that authority. If you have money, you can apply to Sanyang. But whether he'll give it to you is another matter."

"He used to be a player and knows quite a bit about game instances. If you have any questions, you can ask him."

The Sanyang he mentioned was the curly-haired middle-aged man Xu Huo had met last time.

Xu Huo took his leave and went to Sanyang's office. The middle-aged man's hair was even curlier than before, looking like it hadn't been groomed for days. He stood among a pile of square boxes, drinking a potion while reviewing files. Different images projected a circular playback band around him. Besides watching himself, two pairs of anthropomorphic metal eyes floated behind his head, rapidly scanning the visuals.

Hearing the sound, he didn't stop. He pointed to the side, indicating for Xu Huo to sit and wait.

Xu Huo moved the square boxes from the chair onto the table and waited silently until he finished watching the video content.

Sanyang turned around, grabbed the two pairs of eyes, and rubbed them in his hands like walnuts, saying, "This was my prop when I was still a player. It's specially used for cramming—equivalent to having two extra pairs of eyes, allowing me to double the amount of information I can take in."

Xu Huo gave a thumbs up.

The curly-haired middle-aged man had dark circles under his eyes. "The daily workload is already heavy, and now I have to work overtime. Thanks to you."

"Sorry." Though he said that, Xu Huo's face didn't show much guilt. Instead, he asked, "The base and District 011 don't interfere with each other. Even if you find out someone is deliberately sabotaging the stations, what can you do?"

Sanyang chuckled. "We can't do anything, but someone else can."

He didn't want to say more and changed the subject. "I've heard everything from Old Shi. You're a smart person. We're short-handed here, and he wants to bring you into the base."

"But let me say this upfront. From the fifth floor up in this building, there are strict surveillance measures. Entering without permission will have serious consequences. You might be directly teleported to a high-risk instance. Then you'll know that there are things in this world more terrifying than death."

"The reason the base is short-staffed—is it because some contract players stole secrets?" Xu Huo immediately understood.

"Your guess is correct. That's why even some players have been fired." Sanyang said in a deep voice. "Do you want to know where the fired people went?"

"Probably sent to high-risk instances as collateral damage." Xu Huo said calmly. "What important items are stored above the fifth floor?"

"I don't know that either. I've never been there." Sanyang said frankly. "But when working here, don't be too curious, unless you have another purpose."

Xu Huo waved his hand. "I just want to buy some potions and props at a low price."

Sanyang kicked a box out from under his feet. "Inside are H-grade Evolution Agents. This is currently the most effective evolution agent. It's a gift for you."

Xu Huo stopped the box with his foot and smiled. "How can I accept this?"

"Consider it an early employee benefit." Sanyang didn't think much of this small amount of potion. "Do you have anything else?"

"One thing." Xu Huo took out the Light Gentleman medal. "I want to know what this medal is for."

Sanyang looked at him with surprise. "I didn't expect you to be a good person."

"Light Gentleman, as the name implies, is usually awarded by the game for good deeds. This item doesn't have any special effects, but it's highly recognized in districts with a well-established game order. Any commercial establishment run by the Game Government will look favorably upon players holding the Light Gentleman medal."

"Also, if you want to join the Game Government, this medal can serve as a stepping stone. At least there's a certain chance of getting a government position and becoming a Gray Player."

Xu Huo narrowed his eyes slightly. "Did you also join the Game Government with a medal?"

Sanyang laughed heartily. "I'm different. I got my medal by killing ten players and taking theirs. Ten medals exchange for one Gray Player identity."

Xu Huo chuckled softly. "This medal isn't mine either."

Sanyang wasn't surprised. "Since you have this medal, you can get a little more discount on props and potions. When you want to buy props, I'll note it down for you."

"The District 011 government also recognizes the Light Gentleman medal. There are pro-game factions just as there are anti-game factions. You'll have to find out who they are yourself. Someone will guide you along."

Xu Huo nodded and stood up to leave. When he reached the door, Sanyang suddenly said, "Do you think the game Dimension Fissure is evil or good?"

"Labeling a game as evil or good?" Xu Huo didn't answer the question directly but instead asked him, "Isn't it people who have good and evil distinctions?"

Sanyang nodded and continued burying himself in his work.

Xu Huo pulled open the door and walked out, running into Wan Tingfang. She looked a bit surprised. "Are you going to work here?"

"I didn't expect both of us to stay. That's worth celebrating. Let's set a time to have a meal together."

"Let's talk another day. I've made plans with someone else for the next couple of days." Xu Huo smiled.

"Alright then." Wan Tingfang waved at him and entered Sanyang's office.

Xu Huo looked at the glass door that had closed and merged seamlessly with the wall. After two seconds, he turned and left. On his way to the restroom, when he came out, he saw Ran Ying entering the building with two robots named Cheng Bing, heading straight for Shi Youzhi's office.
