# Chapter 347: The Difficulty of the Task
Yu Shuai narrowed his eyes. "Suspecting I'm lying? Since we're trying to find the killer among us, You Qiwen and Liu Zhengping just came down from the third floor, didn't they?"
"We went to the third floor to look for clues," Liu Zhengping immediately said.
"And did you find anything?"
"We came down as soon as we heard the noise. Didn't have time," You Qiwen said.
Yu Shuai let out a cold laugh.
"Speaking of suspicion," Li Chao shone his light on the twins, "one of you two was the last to arrive, right?"
Chen Tu and Chen Nan, with their identical faces, made the same expression. The former said, "Don't try to turn this around. Why don't you tell us what you were doing on the first floor after the power went out!"
"And Fleur," Chen Nan shifted the spearhead to Fleur, "you have a private relationship with Fang Min, don't you? I saw you whispering in the garden. There were no signs of a struggle in Fang Min's room either. She could only have died so cleanly if she was caught off guard. Isn't that the work of an acquaintance!"
"Me kill Fang Min?" Fleur looked as if he'd heard a joke. "She willingly attached herself to me. Why would I kill her?"
"Who knows? There are plenty of perverted killers in the game," the twins said shamelessly.
Fleur's face showed anger. Li Chao spoke up at this point, "Let's say we all have our own motives, but we signed a cooperation contract. Why would we kill each other?"
"Didn't you start it first?" Yu Shuai sneered.
The others turned their gazes to Xu Huo and the Ma couple.
"What were you two doing?" You Qiwen asked.
"Doing happy things, of course." Mrs. Ma winked at him. "We don't need to report that to you, do we, kids? Don't be so nosy."
Warned off, You Qiwen's expression remained unchanged as he looked at Xu Huo.
"A spider got into my room," Xu Huo said calmly. His earlier words weren't meant to stir up conflict among the players, but to observe their reactions.
None of these people were honest, of course. Even Li Chao, who looked simple-minded with a strong build, had hidden depths. But Fang Min probably wasn't killed by any of them.
The idle Ma couple were slightly more possible.
"I can vouch for that," Wei Landeng said. "There were sounds of a struggle in his room, continuing until I left mine."
"Who attacked you?" You Qiwen pressed.
"A spider," Xu Huo answered honestly, but the other players clearly didn't believe him.
"If you don't want to say, fine. Let's not force anyone," Liu Zhengping said sarcastically.
"Instead of wasting time guessing, you'd better think about how to keep yourselves alive," Mrs. Ma said with a smile. "Fang Min wasn't killed by another player. That means the killer is someone in this castle. Not a sound, and a fool knows the other party must be very powerful."
It was obvious. Everyone could see it. The players had no intention of avenging Fang Min. The reason they were arguing here was that each had their own agenda.
"I'd rather believe what Yu Shuai said," Wei Landeng said. "I think the person who killed Fang Min didn't go far. He might have wanted to kill me too, which is why I didn't sense the servants coming up at all. And don't you find it strange? It's been so long since the incident, but Mr. Dong and the other servants haven't appeared at all."
As soon as she said this, the castle seemed to return to normal. Servants were moving and talking downstairs. Mr. Dong was having someone check the circuits, and Hu Shan said she was going upstairs to take a look.
The players came out of their rooms one after another, making way for Mr. Dong and Hu Shan as they approached. You Qiwen secretly woke the unconscious maid again.
The maid opened her eyes and lunged at Hu Shan. "Murder! Murder!"
"Nonsense!" Hu Shan pushed her away sternly, strode into the room, and picked up the calf from the coffee table. Then she let out a big sigh of relief. "Isn't this just a pair of ceramic pieces?"
She scolded the maid, "A pair of fake legs, and you make such a fuss. Get up! Have some manners!"
Wei Landeng and the others were startled. When Hu Shan brought the calf over for them to see, it was indeed made of ceramic.
"Then the blood all over the floor can't be fake, can it?" Liu Zhengping immediately said.
"Couldn't it be a prank?" Hu Shan countered. "Where did Miss Fang go?"
The players found it unbelievable. How could she be so brazen as to turn things around?
Could Fang Min really not be dead?
"I think we should call the police," Xu Huo said.
The players looked at him in astonishment. Was he stupid? After an instance started, it was by default impossible to contact the outside world. What use would calling the police be, besides possibly provoking the people in the castle?
But Xu Huo smiled and said, "Whether she's dead or not, the fact is Fang Min has disappeared, and she vanished in this castle. Shouldn't someone be held accountable?"
Hu Shan's gaze shifted from him to Wei Landeng and the others. "I'll contact the police."
Hearing her say that, Xu Huo's expression changed slightly.
The subsequent matters had to be left to the castle people. The players returned to their rooms.
"Mr. Xu, would you like to change rooms?" Mr. Dong asked, seeing the mess in Xu Huo's room.
"Let's talk about it tomorrow. I'm tired and want to rest early," Xu Huo said, closing the door.
Turning to look at the chaos inside, he now confirmed three things.
First, Fang Min was indeed dead.
Second, the killer was not the spider person.
Third, although Rose Castle was an instance location, it was not completely cut off from the outside world.
What Wei Landeng found was undoubtedly part of Fang Min's corpse. The reason it turned into ceramic was because of Hu Shan. Wearing the "Peeping Eye," he had witnessed the process of the corpse turning into ceramic in her hands. This Hu Shan was also a player.
Judging from the state of Fang Min's blood, she must have died while he was fighting the spider person. The spider person had brushed against the burnt curtain ashes and had been outside Fang Min's room, so he could be ruled out.
As for his mention of calling the police, he didn't actually intend to do so. Even if he secretly called himself, or asked a servant to call, or used other means, it probably wouldn't work. And even if it did, that wasn't his goal.
The beauty of it was that the station where Rose Castle was located was a highly gamified place. The people in the castle recognized "calling the police" and the law, which meant the law here also had a restraining effect on the instance.
However, Fang Min's death also revealed another thing: finding part of a player's corpse didn't meet the requirements of the first task. Combined with what happened at the banquet, the difficulty of the first task might lie in "the complete corpse" or "the living guest."
If it was the latter, then the target of the first task should mainly be the players in this instance. It was too early to say for sure now. At least he needed to go look for the corpse first.
It rained again that night. Because of what happened with Fang Min, none of the players rested well. When they came downstairs the next morning, their faces were all grim, especially after Hu Shan said she had called the police, but the river outside the castle had risen, flooding the bridge and making it impossible to get in or out.
