Chapter 3135: Gravitational Field
Naming?
Xu Huo felt the slowly rotating energy around him, recalling the stone's original form and how, as a medium, it allowed different gravitational fields to influence each other. More than gravity itself, its nature as a passageway was stronger—the convergence of two completely unconnected places, more like completing a journey across dimensions...
Although he hadn't yet tested the effects of this game item, to avoid trouble, he decided to name it first.
After inputting "Gravitational Field" into the game panel, the game notified him again:
"Congratulations, player Passerby A, for successfully naming a new game item and obtaining it. Please note that this game item is a non-physical item and can only change holders through transfer. If the holder dies, the item will be reclaimed by the game."
Confirming that this game item was his, Xu Huo relaxed a little.
Just then, Carol sat down across from him with a wine glass, smiling as he gestured, "Have a drink and relax."
Xu Huo took the glass, "Wasted one of your instruments."
Carol didn't mind, "Failure is the norm. Compared to the instrument, it's more regrettable that I didn't manage to deliver this favor."
"I'll definitely remember the favor," Xu Huo said.
Carol didn't continue that topic, instead bringing up the ruins they were heading to.
"This ruin is where the super item Battle Angel collapsed. Since it was originally a super instance site, even though the instance was shattered, the site itself is relatively intact, making it safer than the previous two ruins."
"However, it retains some of the instance's original traits. Once inside, people get lost, can't discern their direction, and have no sense of orientation. When the ruins were opened before, some players went in and never came out. Only two or three actually found the item fragments."
"Don't worry," he specifically mentioned, "That instance originally belonged to my maternal grandfather. I know a bit about it. I'll be waiting outside to assist you."
"Zone 001 doesn't have random instances," Xu Huo said.
Carol smiled, "Zone 001 already has a new super player, but it hasn't been publicly announced."
Xu Huo understood, "So it seems Zone 001, or rather Mr. Carmen, originally held more than one super instance."
Carol didn't deny it. Whether a super instance had an owner or not, as long as it was located within a district, it could avoid random instances. However, an ownerless instance easily attracted competition from other players, as many strong A-rank players aspired to become super players.
"Super instances aren't so easy to obtain either," he added. "To become an instance holder, you have to be compatible with the instance and qualified to control it. It's not something anyone can claim just by entering countless super instances or obtaining an instance authorization."
Xu Huo had seen countless super instances before. The instances were basically fixed in place, beyond the control of districts or players. Even if the authorization wasn't lost, they had to wait for the right player to appear before they could be reclaimed.
Although the two ruins were far apart, crossing through space channels saved time. After a brief conversation, they arrived at the Battle Angel fragment ruins Carol had mentioned.
The ruins were in a stationless district, now overgrown with dense mutated plants. As far as the eye could see, there was forest. Only by venturing deeper into the woods could one see the super instance site—or rather, part of the site's remnants.
"The gate ahead is the instance entrance. The actual site is in a different space," Carol said.
Xu Huo carefully examined the gate. It looked like an ordinary architectural arch, showing some signs of age, not even particularly wide—about thirty meters across—completely lacking the grandeur of a super instance.
"Are you sure this is it?" he raised an eyebrow.
"Could I be wrong?" Carol gestured with his chin toward a spatial fluctuation that suddenly appeared in the gate. "See, someone's coming out."
Three players emerged from the space channel. The middle-aged woman at the front frowned upon seeing Carol, then glanced at Xu Huo, speaking in a less-than-friendly tone, "You brought a friend?"
"What, Aunt still no luck?" Carol completely ignored her jab.
"You're not young anymore. Focus on serious matters," the woman said. "Not everyone has a vast family inheritance to fall back on like you do. You should consider your friends too and not waste their time."
That was a rather tactful way of putting it.
Xu Huo smiled and said to Carol, "Everyone in your family wants to lecture you."
Carol also smiled, "People get set in their ways as they age. Nothing much to say about it."
The middle-aged woman was still in a bad mood but didn't say anything harsh, only adding, "When you reach my age, you'll think the same way."
She paused, "You're also here for the item fragments. Go on in. There are some outsiders inside."
Carol's eyes flickered slightly. He watched her leave before turning back to Xu Huo. "I thought it would be less crowded, but it seems other player families have people here. Probably some younger members trying their luck."
"Try not to clash with them. Your identity is already exposed. Don't bring trouble to your district."
"Not coming together?" Xu Huo invited.
Carol waved his hand, "This place, I'm sick of looking at it."
"If you want to get out, look for places with the Field family crest. I've marked some of the crests. You'll understand when you see them."
Xu Huo thanked him and stepped toward the gate. Just as he was about to enter, a voice came from behind, "Did you really get nothing in the yellow zone?"
Xu Huo turned back, "What do you think?"
Carol smiled without answering.
"See you later." Xu Huo stepped through the gate.
The instance's built-in teleportation channel immediately sent him into a pitch-black space. Before he could steady himself, someone collided with him, fell to the ground, and suddenly screamed while clutching their head, scrambling backward in terror as they stared at Xu Huo, "Get away! Get away!"
Xu Huo illuminated his face with his communicator. Probably due to the angle of the light, it only startled the person on the ground even more. They scrambled forward frantically, but after a short distance, they hit a wall, blood streaming from their nose. They fell flat on their back, dazed.
"Are you okay?" Xu Huo walked over and shone the light on them. The person squinted, muttered a few words to themselves, and then came to their senses. "You're a player who just came in from outside!"
"You too?" Xu Huo helped them up. They didn't seem like someone from a player family.
The man finally calmed down a bit and quickly said, "My name is Upstairs. I'm a player from another district. I came here on a whim to try my luck, but I got trapped. Are you new here? Do you know how to get out?"
The ruins where the Battle Angel fragments were located hadn't been completely sealed off since they were made public. Players from other districts could apply to the district government to enter, with a certain approval rate. Xu Huo had also applied earlier but hadn't received a response before he arrived.
