Chapter 3130: Gravitational Vortex

Uncle Seven's "geniuses are selfish and self-interested" and the old man's "geniuses follow their whims" essentially mean the same thing.

Carmen and the Field Clan seemed inseparable, but in reality, neither side cared much about the other. With lifespans too long and abilities evolving, this somewhat caused people to become emotionally detached and change their ways of thinking, even the meaning of life and death seemed to dissolve. Therefore, for Carmen, he might prefer to find a like-minded successor rather than waste his efforts on a bunch of useless, worthless relatives.

"This thing called inheritance is truly terrifying." The old man at the head suddenly sighed. "Transcending space and time, even people who have never met can be connected by similarity."

Unfortunately, the Field Clan had not produced another Temporal Evolver, and Xu Huo, having inherited from Huahan Werner, was destined to have no connection with their family either.

"Don't disturb them." He warned everyone with a stern expression. "If Carol can become his friend, that would be a help in itself."

Everyone present remained silent, and no one raised any objection to the latter half of his statement.

Simply put, Carmen's halo was too dazzling. So dazzling that even family members with differing opinions, upon seeing Carol who closely resembled him, couldn't help but grant him equal expectations and tolerance. The family's decisions and considerations were multifaceted, but this still couldn't completely mask personal emotions, masking the fact that Carmen was the "Morning Star" in everyone's hearts.

Although Carol couldn't compare to Carmen, the Field Clan truly couldn't find another Temporal Evolver after Carmen. So even though Carol had been exiled, even without temporal evolution, he remained one of the Field family's hopes.

Leaving aside the undercurrents within the Field Clan, Xu Huo and Carol had already left Zone 001 and gone to another ruin district.

This place was similar to the district they had visited before—completely destroyed. The slight difference was that the chaotic space here appeared relatively stable, while this district had the earth split apart, mountains and waters inverted, and some places even had continuously siphoning spatial fissures, looking dangerously terrifying.

"This is nothing." Carol strolled leisurely around those spatial fissures, leading Xu Huo deeper into the area.

Of course, not only was the space here chaotic, but visible and invisible space entities were jaggedly interwoven. Time rays appeared regularly, occasionally flashing scenes of the district's disintegration. What made Xu Huo most vigilant was that there seemed to be faint forces pulling at each other from all directions in space. Unlike simple gravity, it felt more like chaotic gravitational forces...

Was this a prop, an instrument, or left behind by some other Super Player? Or had Carmen Field truly comprehended gravity?

"Look over there." Carol stopped and pointed straight ahead.

Xu Huo followed his gaze and saw a gray vortex appearing in space. The vortex flowed very slowly, but anything that approached its surroundings was sucked in, shredded, and then disappeared—even space itself seemed no exception.

Although the district's space hadn't collapsed on a large scale, it was visibly apparent that the space around the vortex had become distorted, sometimes folding, sometimes stretching as if elongated. Faint glimmers of light seeped from the depths of the vortex... Space was tearing, yet it wasn't just space tearing. It seemed to have become a strange passage, allowing one to see the other side from here, to see other spaces. And those other spaces were also attracted by the vortex, experiencing small-scale collapses.

But this state didn't last long. Soon, the glimmers of light disappeared, and the vortex's gray deepened a bit, as if it had mixed tangible objects with intangible space, completely fusing the two together...

This was an inaccurate description, a state difficult to articulate.

"Is that a black hole caused by gravity?" Xu Huo asked. Apart from this possibility, he really couldn't imagine anything else.

"Let's call it that for now." Carol said. "But the Game Government sent experts who said it's a special spatial passage caused by gravity, tentatively considered a type of wormhole that can cross dimensions."

"It's said that only gravity is not limited by dimensional boundaries and can freely permeate all spaces."

"Gravity in the dimensional sense is different from the gravity we understand. It's a more macroscopic, harder-to-comprehend existence, yet it's somehow connected to space."

"Grandfather wished during his lifetime to achieve evolution in this area, but he didn't have the talent. In his final battle, one of the Super Players he faced could control gravity and created the scene in this district."

"To others, Grandfather was already an unparalleled genius."

But unfortunately, he stopped there.

Carol turned back to look at Xu Huo as he spoke. "So far, no one has gained anything from this district. I hope you'll be the exception."

Xu Huo withdrew his gaze from the gray vortex, which was only a little over two meters wide. "The Field Clan has no intention of sponsoring me."

Carol laughed. "Just a bunch of old fogies stuck in their ways. They'll soon be eliminated by the game."

"So sure?" Xu Huo raised an eyebrow. "The Field Clan has been around for over a hundred years, but it was Mr. Carmen who got eliminated first."

Carol narrowed his eyes slightly. "Death doesn't mean the end."

"Eternal life by leaving behind recorded images?" Xu Huo's words were full of provocation.

Their eyes met, and the surrounding air suddenly became heavy. After a full half-minute of stalemate, it was Carol who broke the silence first. "You don't even want a freebie handed to you?"

"There's no such thing as a free lunch in this world." Xu Huo said. "The pie looks good, but who knows if there's poison inside."

"You're really not easygoing," Carol said, his anger subsiding somewhat. After a pause, he added, "It doesn't match your strength."

Xu Huo smiled but didn't take the bait. Instead, he looked back at the gray vortex. "How many geniuses surpassing Mr. Carmen do you think exist in the game?"

Carol straightened his expression. "That's why the new talents emerging from the later wormhole points are more worth cultivating. Consider it a bet on the common fate of humanity."

"A very glorious and noble reason." Xu Huo said. "It seems to explain the motivation for supporting without counting the cost or expecting returns."

"However," he looked at Carol, "I'd rather believe that was Mr. Carmen's reason."

In other words, at Carmen Field's level, he could indeed dig up and cultivate successors for such a reason. Carol? He still had a long way to go.

An adult in a long-term rebellious phase—that description wasn't for nothing.

"Haha!" Carol laughed out loud. "Sure enough, people who have undergone mental evolution are different. They don't believe anything others say."

"One's own judgment is more reliable than others' words and actions." Xu Huo said. "Speaking of which, if you want to help me, what do I have to pay?"
