Chapter 2883: In My World
The two vice presidents of the Hundred Forest Society exchanged a glance, neither intending to make another move. With the nearby isolation barrier broken, the commotion here could no longer be hidden from the Enforcement Team and the Holy Sword Society. Although player organizations had secret agreements with the district government behind the scenes, the situation had escalated too far for the district government to simply ignore it.
No matter how lawless players might be, once caught, the district government could punish them according to existing laws.
The Enforcement Team arrived quickly. Among them, some wore uniforms, while others were in plain clothes. Judging by their posture and positioning, they didn’t seem to be internal members of the Enforcement Team.
That likely meant they were from the Holy Sword Society.
Xu Huo’s gaze swept over these people, but he didn’t find any “familiar faces” that matched his expectations.
The Hundred Forest Society members quickly explained the situation to the Enforcement Team. On the private turf of a player organization, the Enforcement Team didn’t immediately try to arrest anyone. Instead, they requested that Xu Huo cooperate with the investigation.
Besides the Hundred Forest Society incident, he was also under suspicion for other matters.
The researcher who had died at the exchange earlier had a very peculiar cause of death—it resembled an execution, with the victim tortured to death in agony.
“You can’t suspect me just because I went to that exchange, can you?” Xu Huo raised an eyebrow. “Do you have evidence?”
The Enforcement Team had no concrete evidence and couldn’t publicly display it. They simply said, “We currently suspect you are a member of the Fanxiao Family.”
The words Nien Fanxiao had spoken before his death were too inflammatory. And coincidentally, right after witnessing the execution, Xu Huo had immediately contacted someone in a public setting to confirm the other party’s identity—he hadn’t taken any special precautions at the time, so the nearby emotional robots had recorded everything.
Moreover, by the time he left the exchange, the researcher was already dead. The staff inside couldn’t vouch for him either, since he had been alone in the private room, and the prop whistle had disappeared along with the researcher’s death.
Xu Huo’s emotions remained calm. He asked again, “Aside from me, weren’t there any other qualified suspects in that exchange? The Fanxiao Family’s genetic traits aren’t exactly outstanding. If someone really intended to carry out Nien Fanxiao’s dying wish, they wouldn’t have left no trace at all.”
His implication was clear: the Fanxiao Family members weren’t that smart or that capable. If no other traces could be found in the exchange, and they could only latch onto him—someone who merely knew Nien Fanxiao—then something was very wrong.
Imitating the district’s execution method to kill that researcher was certainly not a spur-of-the-moment decision.
“That’s none of your concern.” The Enforcement Team leader raised a hand, and his members fanned out, surrounding Xu Huo.
The best ways to deal with players were the Non-Game Area Simulator and Spider Lock, along with various jamming devices that were also highly practical. If used well, Enforcement Team players could even capture a target without getting close.
Scanning these people, Xu Huo said to the leading Enforcement Team member, “You should leave. I only have a grudge with the Hundred Forest Society members. I’m not planning to pick a fight with the Holy Sword Society just yet.”
Whether it was the Enforcement Team or the Holy Sword Society members, many of them wore incredulous, mocking smiles. They probably couldn’t believe someone would be bold enough to threaten them on Holy Sword Society turf, right in front of their people.
White spiritual power slowly flowed out from beneath Xu Huo’s feet, spreading along the grass toward the water’s surface, then expanding outward, extending to even farther places.
This white spiritual power was visible because he intended to put everyone into his core spiritual world. It was a mad, audacious move. With so many players present, he couldn’t possibly control and interfere with all of them while dispersing his spiritual power.
It was also extremely dangerous. If there were other mental evolvers or players using related props, he would inevitably suffer severe mental damage.
But Xu Huo did it anyway. He repeated solemnly, “If you’re only coming after me based on mere suspicion, there’s no need for you to take such risks. Instead of wasting time on me, you’d be better off investigating more thoroughly.”
“Of course, if this is just a convenient excuse, that’s another matter entirely.”
Then he turned to the Hundred Forest Society members. “As for you, those who leave now, I won’t pursue further.”
An A-rank player, even if he was a mental evolver, so what? Could he compare to a super player? Besides, the battle had already lasted quite a while. The Hundred Forest Society had more or less figured out his trump cards and acknowledged that he was indeed strong—but far from the level of a super player. Challenging the district government’s Enforcement Team? Was he out of his mind?
The Hundred Forest Society members naturally wouldn’t leave, but they did order the B and C-rank players to retreat from the battlefield. The remaining A-rank players couldn’t all join the fight, so they deployed a select group to cooperate with the Enforcement Team.
The Enforcement Team didn’t back down. The Holy Sword Society remained on the sidelines, watching like spectators, waiting for Xu Huo to eat his own words.
The surrounding space turned into pure white. Everything in the environment was obscured, as if this place itself was an empty white void. Xu Huo withdrew the “Puppy Bell.” As soon as the “Domain of Heavenly Light” emerged, the minimized defense barrier directly enveloped half of the capital city, including the villa district.
Then he shrouded himself in layers upon layers of defense. His spiritual power materialization began a large-scale, indiscriminate massacre. He didn’t use any attack props—he simply activated “Mirror Space.” Instantly, several players had blood streaming from their eyes and noses, dropping dead on the spot!
At the same time, a massive library tower rose from the ground. Its rotating, shifting floors and rooms opened and closed, interlocking to trap all the players present inside.
After Xu Huo’s last personality fusion, his library tower had undergone a qualitative leap in both quantity and size. Watching players moving in and out of the tower’s rooms, he raised his hand again. Several ring-shaped buildings formed on the periphery, instantly multiplying the number of rooms by more than tenfold.
These buildings weren’t connected to each other, but anyone entering them might open a door and find themselves in any room of any building. They would never find an exit—unless they could break through the spiritual power level here or use devastatingly powerful props or weapons to directly destroy this spiritual world!
Clearly, the Enforcement Team had some methods for dealing with mental attacks. They had jamming devices and high-destructive weapons. If they could use them, they wouldn’t need to tangle with Xu Huo at all!
However, Xu Huo’s eyes were everywhere in this spiritual world. Every time they took a step, paused, or passed through a doorway, one or two of the props or devices they carried would silently disappear. Except for a few experienced individuals who kept their composure, the rest, upon realizing their props were gone, began to doubt whether their own senses were still real!
