Chapter 2488: Come!
Just as the roar fell, the female player’s body suddenly exploded from the inside, her limbs falling in an unnatural manner, as if a colorful egg had burst open. The remnants turned into strips of pink ribbons—no blood, no gruesome dismemberment. A person had vanished like a toy!
Everyone present was stunned, but before they could recover, the Wan family member closest to the female player suddenly straightened up and turned around. Several pink paper scraps were stuck to his body.
“Fall back!” the long-haired player commanded his companion, then quickly opened several defensive barriers, covering both himself and the controlled player, hoping to cut off the enemy’s prop effect…
Two seconds later, that player was also pierced through the heart, exploding without any resistance!
Because of the defensive barrier, the long-haired player didn’t touch those pink paper scraps, but seeing his companion disappear in such a tragic and ridiculous way right before his eyes, how could he remain unmoved? Forcing down his anger, he quickly locked onto the two people who had followed the female player, drawing a circle in the air with his hand: “Arena!”
The invisible circle drawn in the air turned into a force covering several kilometers around. The two players he had locked onto, along with the long-haired player himself, were instantly pulled into the city’s high altitude, where a giant cage faintly appeared, forcibly trapping the two. It seemed no one would come out without a result.
This didn’t mean the crisis was over. The remaining two Wan family members immediately led the old lady to evacuate the city. Since space teleportation props were restricted, they could only flee through the city at top speed.
Within seconds, several players emerged from the shadows to pursue them.
One Wan family member used a flight prop to give his companion a boost. “You go! I’ll buy time!”
Xu Huo and Bubble Bean, along with the old lady, were wrapped in prop power and flew at high speed, but before they could get far, they slammed into an invisible wall. Of the pursuing players, only two stayed to deal with the other Wan family member; the rest came this way.
“Who are you people?! What do you want?!” Xu Huo shielded the old lady, speaking urgently. “Killing people recklessly in the city—aren’t you afraid of local government intervention?!”
But these people didn’t even blink. They snapped their fingers at them. “Scorching Suffocation!”
Even with prior preparation, Xu Huo and the others felt as if the air they inhaled was like chili rushing straight to their brains. Even holding their breath immediately caused a momentary blackout. If this was the case for players, the old lady, an ordinary person, fared even worse.
As violent coughing came from behind, two pursuers appeared like ghosts on their left and right. Thick layers of defensive barriers covered them, making it clear that without breaking through those defenses, ordinary props would be hard-pressed to take effect.
Their target was the old lady. The Wan family member and Bubble Bean beside her immediately stacked several layers of defensive barriers. However, one pursuer’s gloves were special—mere contact could instantly break through an A-grade prop’s defensive barrier. Thus, they didn’t buy much time. Bubble Bean was soon moved away by another player’s prop, and another pursuer took their place.
By then, the old lady’s left side was exposed. The Wan family member on her right was pinned down, and Xu Huo in front was about to face attacks from two players—in just a few seconds, the pursuers’ mission seemed nearly complete!
As the direct target, Xu Huo, after using defensive barriers to block several prop attacks, seemed to have no choice but to engage in close combat with the newcomers. After all, their speed was high, and with both sides having close-range defenses, hand-to-hand fighting would yield faster results.
The pursuers agreed. After a long-range opening, they wanted to finish quickly. Xu Huo agreed too. So, when faced with the pincer of two players, he directly broke free from the encirclement, flashed to the old lady’s left side, and swung his black blade. It cut through the air with a low hum, striking heavily at the attacker’s neck!
A head fell to the ground.
Xu Huo’s blade and hand were trembling. He had put all his strength into this strike. The black blade, a top-tier A-grade prop, had a certain probability of destroying similar props in a direct clash. Cutting through a defensive barrier wasn’t hard. The only issue was that if multiple layers of barriers were stacked, it increased the difficulty. Each layer would drain power, and even if he succeeded in the end, the reaction time would be enough for the opponent to escape.
To minimize that time and ensure a one-hit kill, he had compressed his speed and power to the extreme. Originally just an attempt, the effect turned out surprisingly well.
Seeing their companion die, the machine-like pursuers showed some emotion. Three of them turned to gang up on Xu Huo.
Both sides’ close-range defenses were strong, so they had to rely on real weapons—speed, strength, combat experience, with auxiliary props and instruments.
But in such high-intensity combat, there was little time to choose props. The pursuers initially had a numerical advantage, but Xu Huo seemed to have eyes all over his body, able to anticipate attacks from any direction. Occasionally, when caught in a three-way pincer and unable to dodge, he would pop out a “Space Sphere” combined with passive defense props, which was enough.
“Bang! Bang! Bang!” Though the blades were thin metal, the wielders’ immense force made them produce dull, heavy sounds upon collision. It felt less like using swords and more like an extension of bare-handed combat.
“Ding!” Another prop snapped. The black blade barely shaved off half of the opponent’s shoulder—if he hadn’t dodged quickly enough, half his face would have been gone too.
The injured player retreated, creating distance to assist. Silently, the surrounding air began to change.
Feeling some blood vessels in his body burst, and his vision and hearing suddenly blur, Xu Huo opened dozens of spiritual gates, pulling all five pursuers into his vicinity!
Clearly, this attack could only define a range, not distinguish friend from foe. So when the pursuers’ eyes also bulged outward, that air change disappeared!
Warm liquid flowed from his nose. Xu Huo wiped it away, then smiled at the few opponents across from him. “The feeling of blood vessels bursting isn’t pleasant, is it?”
“Vacuum… but only within a hundred meters…” His gaze swept over them, finally settling on a female player to his right. Before his words faded, he appeared before her. At the same time, the black blade and his materialized object attacked from front and back—the blade aimed at her throat, the materialized object striking her internal organs!
So close, they could even feel each other’s breath. In the terror of death, the female player vanished on the spot!
“Bang!” Xu Huo was knocked back by a sudden force. He flew several meters and landed on top of a cleaning robot. Raising the black blade, he pointed it at the remaining few. “Come!”
