Chapter 2392: Enemies Everywhere

The Fish Feast Building had many rooms, and even if props and instruments were insufficient, one could still shake off the Fish Feast players by hiding in a room. The only thing to be wary of was the people or things inside the room.

Xu Huo rushed to the 53rd floor, used his trait to make a quick and simple judgment, then opened a room. Fortunately, the room contained three players. These three were clearly not together either, each on guard against the others, and they didn't actively attack him.

"I'm just here to lie low for a bit." Xu Huo raised his hands first, indicating he had no ill intentions and only wanted a place to stay.

The other three didn't move, looking at each other. After a moment, the elderly man among them pointed to an empty spot. "You stay over there."

Xu Huo slowly moved over. The Painting Woman was much more at ease; she walked straight to the sofa nearby and sat down, ignoring the others' gazes. She rummaged through her backpack, found no food left, and then turned her head.

Xu Huo knew what she meant but only tossed her a few candies. "We might have to keep running for our lives soon. Don't rush."

"Every time a door in the Fish Feast Building is opened from the outside, the corresponding room changes. The chance of opening the same room twice is very small," the old man said. "You're safe here."

That depended on whether the operators of the Fish Feast had to follow the building's rules, or if they fully understood the operational rules of this Location Item.

For example, an existence like the Tentacle Item was also not easy for the Fish Feast players to deal with. Rooms had a certain chance of spawning similar items. But if the Fish Feast staff knew the room's movement rules, avoiding danger and finding them wouldn't be difficult.

Without responding to the old man's words, Xu Huo waited for a while. Sure enough, no one else burst into the room. Only then did he smile and take out some of his own food to share with the others.

The other two players ignored him, but the old man didn't suspect his motives and accepted his kindness openly.

After a brief conversation, Xu Huo learned that the old man was looking for someone. The reason he struck up a conversation was also to ask for information.

He pulled out an old photograph and pointed to a person at the edge, asking Xu Huo if he had seen him in the Fish Feast Building.

There were eight people in the photo. Xu Huo hadn't seen the one the old man pointed to, but the person in the center of the photo looked familiar. That was because it was the Formal Wear Player who had just died in the zoo.

This was very interesting.

"I haven't seen the person you're looking for, but..." Xu Huo's finger moved to the Formal Wear Player. He paused his gaze on the old man's face for a moment before continuing. "This person looks a lot like one of the Fish Feast employees."

"Is that so?" The old man was slightly excited. "May I ask where you saw him? He should be a friend of my son's. Maybe he knows where my son went..."

"I ran into him on the ninth or tenth floor before," Xu Huo said. "But that was a few days ago. It's useless to go there now."

He paused and added, "But since that person is an employee here, you could ask the waitstaff about him, or commission a waiter to contact him and have him come to you."

"Right, right, you're right," the old man nodded repeatedly. "But I'm not sure if he'd bother with an old man like me. Young man, can you tell me what that person looks like?"

"I heard from others that he has some strange quirks, likes to make inedible food," Xu Huo said. "As for the rest, I don't know. If you give the waitstaff a bit more money, someone will probably be willing to tell you."

Before the Formal Wear Player died, he definitely wouldn't have been able to buy information about him from the waitstaff. But now that he was dead, it was a different story.

The old man still wanted to ask more about the Formal Wear Player. After hearing Xu Huo's description of his appearance and abilities, his expression involuntarily darkened. "He's living so well... he probably wouldn't care about my paltry offerings. He might not come to see me..."

"Hard to say," Xu Huo said. "Maybe he's a good person willing to go all out for a friend?"

Just then, another player in the room sneered. "A good person? Don't be ridiculous. That guy works for the Fish Feast and is thriving. How could he be a good person?"

"Old man, I advise you not to look for him. I've heard he often sets up gatherings for Cannibal Players... It's ridiculous that he's not a Cannibal Player himself."

"If your son is really his friend, either he's a Cannibal Player, or he's already been eaten. I think you should stop wasting your time looking, or you'll end up losing your own life."

The words were very rude and made the old man furious. But those who live longer know better how to weigh pros and cons. Time and hardship had worn away their enthusiasm and fighting spirit, making them less likely to get into conflicts easily.

After a moment, the old man swallowed his anger and didn't respond to the man's words. He just thanked Xu Huo and went back to his spot to rest.

Xu Huo's purpose in coming to the Fish Feast was to find the Food Guest. He couldn't stay hidden in a room forever. He called the Painting Woman to the bathroom to change their appearances and clothes, then prepared to leave the room.

But just as they reached the door, the Painting Woman suddenly turned back, raised her Communicator, and said something to the old man. Then the old man stood up in shock. "Really?!"

The Painting Woman smiled and nodded, then trotted to the door, urging Xu Huo to go out.

"Wait..." The old man's call was cut off by the closing door. Once outside, Xu Huo used a prop to quickly relocate, then asked the Painting Woman what she had said to the old man.

"I told him that you killed that person," the Painting Woman said smugly.

Xu Huo didn't correct her that the Formal Wear Player hadn't died by his hand. He had only done a bit of interference when the player was being ganged up on. The old man didn't really seem to be looking for his son either. The photo was fake; the focus was still on the Formal Wear Player, which was why he asked so many questions.

There was no need to tell him the person was dead. That wouldn't be good for either party. As long as he went to ask the waitstaff, since someone inside had died, the staff should be the first to know. Spending a little money would get him the answer safely without attracting anyone's attention.

"Why lie to him?" Xu Huo said flatly.

"How is it a lie?" the Painting Woman argued confidently. "If you hadn't acted, when the Spider Lock came, that guy definitely wouldn't have died!"

"I told him because I felt sorry for him."

This surprised Xu Huo. "You could tell?"

The Painting Woman tilted her head to look at him. "Wanting to avenge his child but having to pretend he knows nothing while inquiring about his enemy's whereabouts... His acting was terrible, nowhere near as good as the actors on TV."

"Facing an enemy, it's hard not to show true feelings," Xu Huo said.

"If my enemy died, I'd be happy too. Knowing a minute earlier means being happy a minute earlier." The Painting Woman nodded. "That's a good deal."
