Chapter 2185: The Role of the Anchor

The moment the words left his mouth, the atmosphere in the room instantly became tense.

The middle-aged man's gaze flickered, but he quickly regained his composure. "What do you mean by that?"

Xu Huo didn't answer directly. Instead, he slowly walked over to the bookshelf, his fingers lightly brushing over the spines of the books. "The Non-Game Area Simulator isn't just a simple simulation device. It's an anchor—a tool used to lock onto a specific time and space coordinate."

He turned around, his eyes sharp as a blade. "You're not just simulating the past. You're trying to pull something from the past into the present."

The middle-aged man's face finally changed color. His hand, hidden in his pocket, tightened slightly. "You know too much."

"Someone has to know the truth," Xu Huo said calmly. "The so-called 'super evolution' isn't a natural phenomenon. It's man-made. And you people are the ones behind it."

The middle-aged man let out a cold laugh. "Even if you know, so what? Do you think you can stop us?"

"Maybe not," Xu Huo admitted. "But at least I can make sure you don't succeed."

As he spoke, a faint spatial fluctuation emanated from his body. The air around him began to distort, as if the very space was being torn apart.

The middle-aged man's pupils contracted. "Space power... you're a Spatial Super Evolver?"

"Not quite," Xu Huo replied. "I'm something more."

Before the middle-aged man could react, Xu Huo raised his hand. A beam of silver light shot out from his palm, instantly piercing through the Non-Game Area Simulator.

The machine let out a sharp alarm, its surface cracking like a broken mirror. The holographic projection flickered wildly before finally shattering into countless fragments.

"You!" The middle-aged man roared in fury, but before he could make a move, a powerful force pressed down on him, pinning him to the ground.

Xu Huo walked over, looking down at him. "Tell me who sent you."

The middle-aged man gritted his teeth, a trace of madness flashing in his eyes. "You think you've won? This is just the beginning. The real game hasn't even started yet."

Suddenly, his body began to swell, veins bulging across his skin like wriggling earthworms.

Xu Huo's expression changed. "Self-destruction?"

But before he could stop it, the middle-aged man's body exploded with a loud bang, blood and flesh splattering everywhere. However, amidst the blood mist, a strange black light shot out, heading straight for the ceiling.

Xu Huo reacted quickly, instantly teleporting to block its path. But the black light seemed to have a mind of its own, twisting and turning to avoid his interception before disappearing into the wall.

He frowned, sensing that the black light carried a familiar aura—a signal.

"It's a message," he muttered to himself. "He's sending a warning."

At that moment, the entire laboratory began to shake violently. Alarms blared, and red warning lights flashed everywhere.

Xu Huo looked around and saw that the walls were covered with cracks, as if the entire space was about to collapse.

"This place is going to self-destruct," he said calmly, then turned and walked toward the exit.

Just as he reached the door, a voice suddenly came from behind him.

"Wait."

Xu Huo stopped and turned around. He saw a figure slowly emerging from the shadows—a woman with short hair, her eyes cold and emotionless.

"You're the one who destroyed the simulator?" she asked.

"That's right," Xu Huo replied.

The short-haired woman nodded slightly. "Then you must be the one they're looking for."

"Who are you?" Xu Huo asked.

"My name isn't important," she said. "What's important is that you've already stepped into the trap."

Xu Huo's eyes narrowed. "What do you mean?"

The short-haired woman smiled faintly. "The Non-Game Area Simulator isn't just an anchor. It's also a bait. And you've taken the bait."

As soon as she finished speaking, the ground beneath Xu Huo's feet suddenly collapsed, and a powerful suction force pulled him downward.

He tried to use his space power to teleport away, but found that the surrounding space had been completely sealed off.

"This is a trap," he realized.

The short-haired woman's voice echoed from above. "Welcome to the real game, Xu Huo."

The darkness swallowed him whole.
