Chapter 2183: If Your Brain Is Sick, Go Get Treatment

The woman's eyes flickered, and she quickly said, "I'm sorry, I was too impulsive. I didn't mean to hurt you. I just wanted to find out the truth about my husband's death. You look so much like him, I couldn't help it."

Xu Huo looked at her coldly, a faint, almost imperceptible smile curling at the corner of his mouth. "If your brain is sick, go get treatment. Don't take it out on others."

The woman's face stiffened, and the surrounding players cast strange glances her way. Some even whispered among themselves.

"Who is she? She looks pretty good, but her mind seems a bit off."

"Yeah, grabbing someone and calling them her husband, that's a bit much."

"Maybe she really did lose her husband and is heartbroken."

The woman's expression shifted between pale and red. She gritted her teeth and said, "I really am sorry. I'll leave now."

With that, she turned and tried to slip away.

But Xu Huo's voice rang out from behind her, "Stop right there."

The woman halted, her back stiffening.

Xu Huo walked up to her, his tone calm but carrying an undeniable pressure. "You said I look like your husband. What's his name? When did he die? Where did it happen?"

The woman's body trembled slightly. She forced herself to stay composed and replied, "His name is... Li Ming. He died in an accident in the Sand Sea Safe Zone three months ago."

"Li Ming?" Xu Huo's eyes narrowed slightly. "What a coincidence. I happen to know a Li Ming. He's still alive and well, living in the Block Fairy Tale City."

The woman's face instantly turned deathly pale. She knew she had been caught in a lie.

The surrounding players immediately realized something was wrong. Some began to step back, keeping their distance from the woman.

"You're lying," Xu Huo said flatly. "You don't know any Li Ming at all. You just wanted to find an excuse to get close to me. Who sent you?"

The woman bit her lip, silent.

Xu Huo continued, "If you don't want to talk, that's fine. I'll take you to the Special Defense Department. They have ways to make you talk."

Hearing the words "Special Defense Department," the woman's face showed a flicker of panic. She suddenly pulled out a dagger from her bosom and lunged at Xu Huo.

But Xu Huo had been on guard. He sidestepped, and at the same time, a Space Blade shot out from his hand, slicing through the woman's wrist.

With a clatter, the dagger fell to the ground. The woman let out a scream and clutched her bleeding wrist, staggering backward.

"Last chance," Xu Huo said coldly. "Who sent you?"

The woman's face was ashen. She looked at Xu Huo, a hint of madness flashing in her eyes. "You'll never find out!"

With that, she bit down hard.

Xu Huo's expression changed. He moved instantly, grabbing her jaw, but it was too late. Black blood had already trickled from the corner of her mouth, and her body went limp, falling to the ground.

The surrounding players gasped in shock.

"She bit the poison capsule and killed herself!"

"Who's behind this? So ruthless!"

Xu Huo frowned, releasing his grip. He crouched down to examine the woman's body, but found nothing of value—no identification, no communicator.

It was as if she had appeared out of thin air.

"Brother Xu, are you alright?" a player nearby asked with concern.

Xu Huo stood up, shaking his head. "I'm fine."

But his gaze was deep. Someone was targeting him, and they had even sent a dead soldier. This was no small matter.

He looked around at the crowd, his voice low. "Everyone, be careful. There might be more of them lurking nearby."

The players exchanged uneasy glances, some instinctively stepping closer together.

Just then, a burst of rapid footsteps came from the end of the street. A group of people in black uniforms rushed over, led by a middle-aged man with a stern face.

"What's going on here?" the middle-aged man asked sharply, his gaze falling on the woman's corpse on the ground.

Xu Huo recognized him—it was Team Leader Wu from the Special Defense Department.

"Team Leader Wu," Xu Huo said calmly, "this woman suddenly attacked me. After I subdued her, she bit a poison capsule and killed herself."

Team Leader Wu's brow furrowed deeply. He crouched down to examine the body, then stood up and said to Xu Huo, "Come with me to the department. We need to get a statement."

Xu Huo nodded. "Alright."

He followed Team Leader Wu and the others toward the Special Defense Department building. Behind him, the players whispered among themselves.

"Who do you think is after Brother Xu?"

"Who knows? With his skills, he's probably made a lot of enemies."

"Yeah, but sending a dead soldier is a bit too much."

Xu Huo ignored the chatter behind him. His mind was racing, trying to figure out who would want to kill him.

Was it someone from the Vilna Family? Or the Field Clan? Or perhaps someone from the Game Government?

He had too many enemies to count.

Soon, they arrived at the Special Defense Department. Team Leader Wu led him into an interrogation room, had him sit down, and then began the questioning.

"State your name, age, and occupation."

"Xu Huo, twenty-five, player."

"Where were you born?"

"Jing City."

"Have you had any conflicts with anyone recently?"

Xu Huo thought for a moment. "Quite a few. But none that would warrant sending a dead soldier."

Team Leader Wu looked at him meaningfully. "You should know, the method of sending a dead soldier is usually used by some large organizations. Ordinary players wouldn't go that far."

Xu Huo nodded. "I know. I'm thinking about it too."

Team Leader Wu put down his pen. "Alright, you can go for now. If we find anything, we'll contact you."

"Thank you, Team Leader Wu." Xu Huo stood up and walked out.

As he reached the door, Team Leader Wu's voice came from behind him. "Be careful. If someone's set their sights on you, they won't stop after just one attempt."

Xu Huo paused, then nodded without turning back. "I understand."

Leaving the Special Defense Department, Xu Huo stood on the street, looking up at the gray sky.

The wind picked up, carrying a faint scent of blood.

He took a deep breath, his eyes growing resolute.

No matter who was after him, he would make them pay the price.
