Chapter 1980: Inside the Library
The courage to charge into a known tiger's den is certainly commendable, but for players, if they don't know to avoid danger when it's right in front of them, they're simply foolish. Besides, they had no intention of competing with the East District players. This library building was clearly prepared for the Rebel Army. Joining in the fun was one thing, but personally participating was another.
Therefore, after a preliminary understanding of the building's situation, some players unhesitatingly turned around and charged back into the tornado outside. However, unexpectedly, the players who jumped out of the window returned to the library just a few seconds later, as if they had been intercepted.
"What's going on?" someone quickly asked.
"There are people in the wind," the player who had been knocked back said, then with a grim face, he charged into the tornado again. But within two seconds, he was knocked back once more.
It was expected that the East District players would arrange people to intercept them outside. But the library building was so large, with countless windows, and there were so many Outer Zone players. Surely they couldn't be blocked every time they went out, could they? Did the East District have that many people?
"This location item likely has a teleportation gate inside," Xu Huo spoke up at this point. "No matter which direction we go, we might be blocked by East District players."
This effect was somewhat similar to a spiritual realm, but the item holder was using spatial gates to precisely teleport their own people outside the building—every door and every window in the building had spatial power fluctuations when someone passed through. This should be the effect of the item, so the East District players didn't need to wait outside; as long as the holder sent their own people out, it was enough.
Seeing many people go out only to be forced back, other skeptical players also tried. After several attempts, someone finally obtained some specific information.
"The boundary of the location item should be inside the tornado," a female player with waist-length hair said. "When we went out, we activated the item's boundary. If we go a little further, we should be able to see it. The East District players are blocking everyone, probably because they don't want us to discover the item's boundary."
Location items were somewhat different from container items. Although location items could also accommodate people, they weren't very restrictive. As long as players could find a way out, or directly destroy the item, they could leave. This was completely different from container items, which felt like another dimension.
"So what are we waiting for?" another male player with eyebrow piercings said. "Since we're idle anyway, let's give the East District players something to do. Otherwise, they'll think we're easy to bully!"
Several people chimed in agreement.
In fact, it wasn't just that. The most important thing was that the East District had A-level players. They were currently dealing with the Rebel Army and had no energy to spare for the Outer Zone players. But once that was over, they would definitely turn around and deal with them. No one wanted to face A-level players of unknown strength and numbers, so it was best to break the location item now.
Everyone agreed. After exchanging glances, they headed for different windows or rooms on the same floor, and within a breath, they all plunged into the tornado.
Xu Huo also returned to the fierce wind, using "Flower Bloom" to protect his body. He tentatively stepped forward, and spatial power immediately concentrated in the space ahead, then transformed into a real door.
Switching his item to a space barrier, Xu Huo pulled spatial rays into countless blades and thrust them all at the door at once.
The spatial ray blades shattered, clearly hitting someone, but they failed to break through the opponent's defense barrier. Therefore, the next second, he appeared in front of the door, swung his black blade in a horizontal slash, and simultaneously manipulated "All Things Want to Cut Everything" to cut from above and below!
"All Things Want to Cut Everything" was a spatial item that could be effective against similar items, so he used it to cut the spatial door. The final result was even better than he expected. After the spatial door was destroyed, the East District player couldn't come out at all. Xu Huo then passed straight through the tornado and found the boundary layer the female player had mentioned.
Xu Huo tested it with his black blade, but only left a small scratch on the boundary. Such an item barrier was no longer an ordinary obstruction; a spiritual realm couldn't get out. The best way was still to use a similar item to destroy it. So he struck the barrier with one end of the tangent, intending to first open a gap.
But before he could exert force, accompanied by a sharp whistle, a burning long arrow flew out from the library, briefly halting the tornado before plunging straight into the barrier!
The brief void in the tornado caused by the arrow's passage was quickly covered again. But those nearby, whether by sight or perception, vaguely understood that the barrier had been breached. So the Outer Zone players in the vicinity all gathered around.
The wind was too strong, mixed with all sorts of debris, making it hard to see. When the long-haired female player approached, she shouted toward the direction the arrow had pierced: "Bought a membership!"
No matter how ridiculous this shout sounded, the moment the voice fell, it was as if high-definition images appeared before the eyes of all the Outer Zone players. The impurities mixed in the air were cleared, and the wind returned to its original state.
Although some small objects were still flying past, it didn't prevent them from seeing the flying arrow on the spatial barrier. The flames on the arrow hadn't gone out yet, and starting from the point of penetration, spiderweb-like cracks gradually appeared around it—the spatial barrier broke without a sound, but it genuinely provided a breakthrough for the Outer Zone players.
No communication or discussion was needed. The next second, the Outer Zone players rushed toward the crack.
Xu Huo took a step back and turned to enter the library.
Based on his previous perception of the space, this library contained multiple overlapping spaces. Opening a door from the inside would mostly only move within the interior. Therefore, the battling East District players and Rebel Army members were basically moving from one room to another, changing positions frequently, but there was little communication between them.
"Boom!" Just as he was preparing to investigate further, a loud noise suddenly came from downstairs. Standing by the railing and looking down, he saw a black and a blue figure flash past in the middle of the floor. He only heard a door being forcefully slammed open, and then they burst out of a room on the floor above Xu Huo.
The one in blue was clearly an East District player. The person fighting him should be a Rebel Army member. The latter wore a hood, revealing only a pair of eyes. During the fight, he kept using mental interference devices to disrupt the blue jacket, but the effect wasn't good. This seemed to be related to the metal patches stuck to the blue jacket's temples. Therefore, during the battle, the black hood kept trying to remove those two patches but hadn't succeeded yet.
