Chapter 1797: Young People
After a brief alternation of light and darkness, Xu Huo arrived at the B-Class train station.
The moment he entered the station, over a dozen pairs of eyes in the station turned to look at him simultaneously. Some had even already stood beside him, but just as he turned his head, those two stopped their movements, as if they had been standing there from the start.
In a B-Class train station, the vast majority of people here were, of course, B-Class players. The sudden arrival of a C-Class player naturally made him the center of attention.
A male player standing three meters away from Xu Huo said, "Young people sure have guts, huh? A C-Class player daring to come to a B-Class station."
Xu Huo tilted his head and glanced at him. It was this glance that made the male player stop his intended step forward.
The difference between a C-Class player and a B-Class player wasn't just about player level and evolution rate; it also involved the vastly different risk levels and instance dungeon experience gained from leveling up. Anyone who could fight their way to B-Class in instances wouldn't be weak. Therefore, the players present only saw Xu Huo as a relatively strong C-Class player. Of course, daring to come to a B-Class station wasn't just about guts, but he still wasn't enough to threaten them.
However, at the moment their eyes met, the male player instinctively stopped his movement.
Another player beside him said with a grin, "It seems this young man isn't just bold; he's got quite the temper too."
As he spoke, he started walking toward Xu Huo, reaching out a hand and saying, "Let's get to know each other. I am—"
Before he could finish, he touched an invisible barrier in the air. Surprised, his face darkened. He looked back at Xu Huo and said, "You're really not giving any face!"
Xu Huo stared at his hand for a moment, then waved his hand to remove the space barrier between them. But in the next second, he suddenly lunged forward, and the black blade he drew from thin air came slashing down from above.
Without the boost from "Perfect Assistance," the black blade's attack range was limited to where the blade itself could reach. However, that player clearly hadn't expected Xu Huo to pull out an A-Class item. The item he used to block was directly cut in half. If it weren't for the double defense barrier protecting him, his hand would have been cut in two as well!
And it wasn't over yet. Just as this player was about to retreat, he suddenly realized that a trap had been set behind him. He didn't dare use another item to block and instead tried to jump out through the gaps in the intersecting tangents.
"Idiot," someone among the players muttered. The moment the voice sounded, Xu Huo had already shifted to the other side of the tangents and stabbed his blade straight through the throat of the man who had just emerged from the gap.
It wasn't a quick death, so the man didn't die immediately. In his pain and shock, he tried to drag Xu Huo down with him before his last breath.
But Xu Huo had already raised a thick barrier between them as he withdrew his blade, and he also used the "Life Flashback" trait as a precaution.
That player didn't manage to use any overly destructive items. Even if one restrictive item and two offensive items broke through the space barrier, they couldn't penetrate the "Inviolable Domain," so they had no effect.
Staring wide-eyed at the man standing not far away, the player's body tilted and fell to the ground.
It was a brief and somewhat unremarkable ambush and counter-kill. The other player who had tried to make a move when Xu Huo first entered had already quietly retreated. The remaining players in the station also averted their gazes to avoid any unnecessary misunderstandings.
After a while, a man with pink hair and sunglasses walked over, laughing and saying, "Our young man here isn't just hot-tempered; he's got real skills too!"
"Brother, you're pretty impressive, killing a B-Class player so casually. Which train are you on? Maybe we're on the same route!"
The man was wearing a loose, baggy jacket, zipped halfway, with a T-shirt printed with a heart underneath. Around his neck hung an exaggeratedly thick chain, and there were light and dark tan lines visible at the edges of his clothes. His entire face was bronze, with gem-studded short studs in both ears and eyebrows, and his lips were coated with glossy lipstick. He had a strangely cohesive yet bizarre appearance.
Xu Huo told him his train number. The man slapped his pants, which had over a dozen tears in them, and said happily, "We really are on the same train! Looks like this ride won't be boring!"
The pink-haired man was an extremely outgoing person. After deciding he had made friends with Xu Huo, his mouth barely stopped. He had a strong desire to share, constantly talking about how he had deduced clues to clear the last instance, how he had dealt with troublemakers, and his experience of finding useful resources in instances to sell for money.
"Don't underestimate some things in instances. They might seem insignificant, but in a different district, their price can multiply several times. Scarcity makes things valuable, you know."
He sized Xu Huo up and then winked, saying, "Want me to share some tips with you?"
Without waiting for Xu Huo's answer, he continued, "If you're choosing, prioritize ores. Some ores that are useless in one district can be great stuff in districts with less advanced technology. Next are plant seeds. I mean the zero-cost kind. Preferably aggressive mutant plants that can be grown. Some people like using these to guard their homes. Mutant animals are also an option, but they're troublesome to raise and hard to tame, so not many people like them..."
Xu Huo listened all the way until they boarded the train. They happened to be in the same car, and as soon as they sat down, the pink-haired man was ready to continue.
But there were others in the car. Among those who boarded before them were a few cannibal players. These people flaunted their numbers on their backs without any restraint. After listening for just a few sentences, they grew impatient. One of them slammed the table and turned around, "Are you done with your endless chatter?"
The pink-haired man paused, clasped his hands together apologetically, and said, "Sorry, sorry. I'll keep my voice down."
Apologizing was one thing, but after apologizing, he just kept talking, though he did lower his voice. Just as he was about to brag about his heroic performance in another instance, the cannibal player who had slammed the table suddenly stood up, walked over in a few steps, grabbed him by the collar, and lifted him up. With a ferocious face, he said, "I told you to shut up!"
"I'm already talking very quietly," the pink-haired man said, raising his hands in surrender. "Is that still not okay?"
"I don't want to hear it, so you have to shut up!" The cannibal player swung his fist!
But the pink-haired man was faster. He threw a punch first, sending it flying toward the other's face—though it was blocked by a defense barrier and didn't make contact, the force was enough to send both the barrier and the man flying backward. In the process, he also turned around and slipped out of the jacket that was being tightly gripped.
With the sound of tables and chairs crashing, the pink-haired man laughed. Before the cannibal player could get up, he rushed over, straddled him, and started punching. What was astonishing was that, despite being bare-handed, he broke through the opponent's defense barrier in just a few blows, sending blood and flesh flying everywhere.
"Aren't cannibal players supposed to have the strongest physical evolution? If you've got the guts, don't use items!" he shouted as he pounded away.
Some people die, but not completely...
