Chapter 1777: A Junior of Mine

Zheng Shijiu had no time for Xu Huo anymore. After descending from the high altitude, he went to the nearby area to arrange personnel evacuation. Only a few government players remained to evacuate the staff inside the government building; everyone else followed him.

"To avoid interfering with the large teleportation device, all players are prohibited from using space items! Non-government players must retreat to two thousand meters immediately, or they will be killed without mercy!"

As the first-level alarm sounded, Zheng Shijiu's voice was transmitted to every corner of the square through an item. Before he could say more, the massive rock mountain had already landed on the space teleportation gate!

When matter passed through the space channel, it wasn't as smooth as imagined. Although the space channel's range was much larger than the rock mountain, the mountain had been moved using item power. It carried tremendous impact force, and combined with its own weight, the collision with the space gate instantly created a massive shockwave. The powerful energy storm swept across the city's sky, instantly destroying all aircraft. Even the armed robots moving on the ground were disrupted, stuttering and freezing!

This was beyond the comprehension of ordinary people. Those being carried away by the robots turned back to look at the space teleportation gate emitting a strong light, and the rock mountain stuck in the middle of the portal, feeling as if a natural disaster had struck!

After the energy storm passed, an even worse situation followed: several of the metal pillars supporting the space teleportation gate snapped!

Although the remaining pillars still held the gate, the light it emitted began to flicker weakly, and the rock mountain seemed to be disappearing more slowly!

Fortunately, the rock mountain wasn't that large compared to the entire district government, and the nearby residential buildings for staff families had already been evacuated in advance. Now the government had to consider that the shockwave from a failed teleportation might affect residents farther away. Realizing there was a problem with the construction craftsmanship of these metal pillars, Zheng Shijiu returned to the top of the gate, drew a slender sword like a willow branch, and sliced the rock into dozens of pieces of varying sizes, letting them tumble into the gate.

The rock mountain was rapidly disappearing.

This crisis was successfully averted. Xu Huo watched for a moment and then planned to leave. However, even if the district government didn't have time for him, there were still plenty of people keeping an eye on him.

The players hired by the mining group had been waiting nearby!

It seemed Zheng Shijiu had performed a heroic feat midway, but Xu Huo didn't know whether the content of his negotiations with other personnel included the super item on his person. So leaving District 019 was very risky. With no other choice, he could only open his spiritual realm again and return to the government building.

However, the surrounding players were also very skilled in combat. One of them made a gesture of encircling him from a distance, and a ring-like object resembling a smoke ring appeared around him. This ring, about three meters in diameter, trapped him in the middle, forming an invisible space barrier that completely isolated him from the outside world!

The power released by the spiritual interference device caused Xu Huo's head to ache as if splitting, with ringing ears and blurred vision. At that moment, six players had already surrounded him, and six streams of gas extended from the smoke ring, rapidly spreading toward them!

Tiny beads of sweat broke out on Xu Huo's skin.

In just a moment of thought, he realized this item cage was absorbing the moisture from his body!

As he controlled "All Things Want to Cut Everything" to destroy the smoke ring barrier from the outside, a hand suddenly appeared inside the barrier, piercing through the space barrier he had raised and grabbing his arm!

Then came a second hand, a third hand. They each seized his limbs, trying to pin him in midair.

The fine sweat turned into large droplets. Xu Huo exhaled deeply, gathering all the space rays inside the smoke ring barrier into four blades and slashing at these four hands!

Two players lost fingers, while two were protected by their items and remained unharmed. But with one hand and one foot freed, Xu Huo had room to move. He swung the black blade, cutting off the hand gripping his left arm along with the defense item it wore. At the same time, a giant pair of scissors flying from a distance swept horizontally, forcing back two players controlling the smoke ring, then turned back and stabbed into the smoke ring barrier...

With two controllers missing, the smoke ring barrier seemed to weaken. The giant scissors directly sliced off its lid—though Xu Huo's head nearly flew off along with it.

Glancing at the golden-eyed player standing on a distant building, Xu Huo turned and continued toward the district government. But at that moment, a group of players came over from that direction, looking aggressive and not like they were there to resolve the mining group's backstab.

With wolves ahead and tigers behind, Xu Huo judged it was time to leave. However, just as he was about to pass through, a figure suddenly appeared in his field of vision.

The person was wearing a very old trench coat, its seams washed white. He looked thin and frail, standing in the air inconspicuously, and even his appearance made so little noise that few noticed him.

Xu Huo still remembered this person. He had seen him once in Fresh Flower City, when he was searching for the entrance to the underground mine. This trench coat man had appeared in his room, telling him that the mine entrance wasn't a small portal as conventional thinking suggested, which later helped him find the spiritual space of the underground mine.

He didn't expect to meet him again here.

"You're still alive." The trench coat man seemed pleased to see him, waving from afar.

His blatant greeting naturally alerted the other players, and several immediately turned around. The trench coat man's gaze didn't fall on them. As he walked toward Xu Huo, he lightly pointed at the four players charging at him. The next second, these four stiffened, frozen in midair, then turned left, right, up, or down, reorienting themselves to face their own companions.

The remaining players were startled, their expressions turning serious.

Judging by the degree of physical evolution, the trench coat man was undoubtedly an A-level player. But with a mere gesture, he had controlled four players of the same level—they were clearly not on the same power tier!

Xu Huo, a C-level player, had managed to hold out against the district government until now with A-level items and super evolution. Among A-level players, it was naturally possible for individual monsters with extraordinary strength to appear.

The players of District 019 exchanged glances, cautiously keeping their distance from the trench coat man. Before they could act, Zheng Shijiu appeared, accompanied by twenty A-level players.

But these people didn't form an encirclement. Instead, they stood behind Zheng Shijiu, facing off against the trench coat man alongside him.

"What business does Your Excellency have in District 019?" Zheng Shijiu asked solemnly.

The players who had been attacking Xu Huo realized the severity of the situation and silently retreated to the side. The trench coat man stood in front of Xu Huo, holding up the four players, and said, "The person you injured is a junior of mine. I don't know what he did to incur such wrath that so many A-level players would attack him. I personally dislike seeing the strong bully the weak. You've beaten him like this, and I'm not happy about it."
