# Chapter 1549: Killing in Another Sense

Xu Huo still needed to stay in Zone 017 for a certain period of time. To avoid unnecessary trouble, he hadn't worn the Super Item from the start, never expecting the Box Carrier to arrive so suddenly and stuff him into the suitcase face-to-face.

Although he could escape from the suitcase, that didn't mean he was completely safe once out. If Super Players were really that easy to kill, the Box Carrier and the Paper Servant Master wouldn't be bouncing around together in Zone 017. So the best way after escaping was to use a ticket to leave, to avoid being stuffed into some inexplicable space again.

However, no one would have expected the Box Carrier to be waiting for them outside. Besides that force that solidified the air, Xu Huo also felt another force pulling at him — it was the Box Carrier's gaze!

"Three Seconds of Life" was already in his hand, but he didn't leave. Instead, like the others, he stood still as if time had frozen.

Instinct drove him to make this choice, but the breath of death still licked his face, blew into every pore, and seeped into his bones, as if it could awaken fear from the depths of his soul...

But this feeling didn't last long. The Box Carrier chose him first, but just as he was about to take a step, his movement suddenly paused, and he turned to look at Guan Donglai on the other side.

The moment he was locked onto by the Box Carrier, the frozen Guan Donglai's eyes suddenly bulged wide, his eyeballs trembling violently.

"It's you." The Box Carrier's attention completely shifted away from Xu Huo. When that almost tangible gaze fixed firmly on Guan Donglai, the latter's facial skin began to tremble violently, his mouth opening and closing as if screaming silently. Then, the skin exposed on his body started to redden, and a layer of something like a white membrane floated to the surface. But in an instant, that membrane burst, revealing the red flesh beneath.

The white object that floated up and quickly burst was actually Guan Donglai's skin. Now it crumbled into dust as easily as if it had been dried, then rapidly disappeared into the continuously boiling flesh.

In the blink of an eye or two, his entire body seemed to have been boiled from the outside in. Layer after layer boiled and evaporated, visibly vaporizing!

Having seen life and death in the game, Xu Huo had also seen many players who liked to kill with cruel methods. But methods like the Box Carrier's completely elevated one's understanding of death. Without seeing it with one's own eyes, who could believe that a single person could kill another in an extremely short time using a method that almost completely obliterated the body?

In that instant, including Xu Huo, all the players present truly witnessed what a Super Player was. They could kill a person in another sense entirely!

But just as the Box Carrier was dealing with Guan Donglai, Lawrence Li appeared. A Space Ray shot into the area the Box Carrier occupied. As the two forces collided, the previously stagnant space began to flow again.

After the confinement was lifted, even Lian Hanshan and the others had no interest in watching the Super Players fight. They fled into the game without looking back.

Xu Huo was the same, but instead of using a ticket, he used the "Head-to-Tail Connected Ring" to escape to the next city.

Taking advantage of the gap before the instrument restarted, he looked back in the direction he came from. Due to the distance, he could no longer see any trace of the Box Carrier or Lawrence Li, but under the distant sky, the piled clouds showed continuous large holes, rapidly and frequently eliminating large patches of rain clouds.

The direction was heading straight for the Capital Safe Zone. Xu Huo didn't linger any longer and rushed to the Capital Safe Zone as fast as possible.

As the capital of the largest country in Zone 017, R City was almost completely occupied by players. The combat base was basically hollowed out. The only reason it wasn't completely scrapped was that players from different factions in outer zones were deadlocked here, all trying to get Super Items from the government or obtain information about their holders.

The elite players the government had selected in advance had already entered the game. Those still remaining, aside from some who didn't want to leave, were mostly those who couldn't leave. Faced with outer zone players, they could only be like docile sheep, doing whatever they were told.

Xu Huo didn't enter the combat base. He found a place nearby to release Jin Zi, letting her contact her family and ask for the location of the command room.

The location of the Capital Combat Base was where the government leaders usually worked. Without being completely cut off from the city, one could more or less see what was happening inside. Besides, the players controlling the combat base hadn't bothered to hide anything. So when Jin Zi saw the bodies being carried out by staff and thrown onto the open ground, her eyes turned red. Her gaze was full of hatred, but when she answered the phone, she sobbed weakly.

She didn't directly contact her grandfather or father but called her mother instead.

"Mom, where are you? I'm so scared."

There was no communication restriction inside the combat base. Xu Huo only heard someone on the other end help put it on speaker, followed by a choked female voice, "Xiao Zi, are you safe?"

"I found a place to hide. People are killing everywhere outside. Are Grandpa and Dad with you?" Jin Zi's sobbing didn't stop as she asked intermittently, "I don't want to stay here anymore. Where are you? I want to come find you..."

"I'm at home. Your grandfather and father went to Uncle Wang's place..." The woman on the phone seemed to be holding back her emotions. Her tone changed mid-sentence: "Listen to me, your brothers are already dead. Now only you are left in the family. Don't worry about us, and don't come find us. Go to another district, change your name, live a good life..."

Before she could finish, a laughing male voice cut her off, "Oh, isn't the little girl right here?"

"What are you going to do...!" Jin Zi's mother's scream stopped abruptly. The call was disconnected. Jin Zi instinctively rushed forward, taking two steps before realizing she was still outside the combat base. Just as she was about to turn back, she felt a hand on her shoulder.

"Don't speak." Xu Huo stood behind her, but his attention was on the players who had suddenly appeared.

Five people had arrived. Three blocked the front window, two blocked the back window. After seeing Xu Huo, a man in a gold jacket jumped down from the front, grinning, "Someone beat us to it, friend. Show your colors."

"Smiling Clown." Xu Huo reported his freshly minted nickname.

"Never heard of it," the Gold Jacket turned to ask the others, "Have you guys heard of it?"

The others didn't answer. The Gold Jacket looked back at Xu Huo, shrugged and spread his hands, "Sorry, brothers don't deal with nobodies. Hand over the person and get lost yourself."
