Chapter 1504: Full Demonstration
After hearing this, the people in the meeting room first found it absurd. So what if he was a Super Evolver? Xu Huo was just one person. How many players were there in Central City?
But as they stared at Shaka's expression, they grew a bit uneasy. They had all been to Zone 026 and knew that some genius players couldn't be explained by common sense.
Finally, most of them fell silent with grim faces, because rare talented players who survived often possessed both strength and luck. It wouldn't be difficult for him to obtain high-level items—meaning that although he was alone, he would still make them pay a heavy price.
"I don't understand," an older female player said. "Why is he so determined to interfere with matters in Settlement 01?"
"What else could it be? He found this district backward and wants to play savior," another fat player waved his game console. "If you ask me, there's no need to be afraid. He can't stay here forever anyway. When the time comes, he'll leave on his own. Just stall him, or agree to his demands and then be flexible in execution. He can't guard this place forever. Whatever happens after he leaves is up to us, isn't it? I really don't see what's worth discussing here."
"Enough!" Shaka shouted.
The fat player looked up. He was clearly on Ji Minzhang's side. "Shaka, Central City isn't yours to decide."
Shaka was getting angry and was about to retort when he suddenly saw Xu Huo appear at the end of the conference table. He paused.
Xu Huo had revealed himself voluntarily, so of course the others noticed. The people on both sides of the table quickly retreated, immediately sealing the room with Defense Items. At the same time, the outer walls of the conference room descended, three-inch-thick metal completely sealing the entire space, confining the battlefield to this relatively narrow area.
Xu Huo raised an eyebrow, locking eyes with Shaka, who sat at the other end of the table. "I wonder if you're trying to trap me or yourselves."
"You must have heard everything just now. I can't convince everyone." Admittedly, Shaka wanted to resolve this situation with minimal cost, but if war broke out, he would still stand unhesitatingly with his own people.
A Space Barrier separated the middle of the conference room. Xu Huo gestured for them to calm down and added, "I took a moment to check the water collection facilities. The groundwater isn't as close to drying up as the rumors say. You don't have a daily pumping limit, which means Settlement 01 isn't short of water at all. Wouldn't it be better to distribute water to other cities in exchange for more population and players?"
"Easy for you to say, waltzing in here like it's an empty room!" Ji Minzhang's eyes darkened. He raised his hand, grabbed a laser blade, and leaped forward, slashing down at the Space Barrier!
The barrier Xu Huo had made with his own Space Power wasn't very sturdy—it wouldn't be hard to break—but Defense Items were not so easily breached. Once the "Goalkeeper" barrier expanded, Ji Minzhang and his item were both repelled by the force, flying back into the crowd.
After he retreated, three more players immediately stepped up, attacking the Defense Barrier from different positions. But there was a natural gap between A-grade Defense Items and lower-grade Attack Items. Unless the attacks were excessively dense and exceeded the item's tolerance limit, attacks like theirs, one after another, wouldn't break the barrier even before the item expired!
In such a confined space, with Xu Huo occupying one side, even if the people from Central City crowded together, they didn't have enough room to maneuver. As he had said earlier, it wasn't clear who was being trapped by sealing the conference room.
The "Goalkeeper" had ten minutes. Xu Huo tapped the table with one finger, waiting for their first wave of attacks to end before speaking. "Nearly half of you just attacked. Does that mean no matter what, you won't agree to my request?"
"What if we agree? What if we don't?" the fat player retorted, unwilling to back down.
Xu Huo smiled slightly and stopped tapping the table. "I have limited time to stay in Zone 026, so I need to resolve this before I leave. If you've all unanimously decided not to compromise, that will save me a lot of trouble."
As he spoke, he stood up. His gaze toward the crowd was no longer as calm as before but carried immense pressure. Then, the "Goalkeeper" barrier disappeared.
A perfect opportunity!
The players from Central City thought the item had expired. Immediately, six of them moved. Three kept their distance to provide support, while the other three chose close-quarters attacks!
"Don't go!" It all happened in an instant. Even though Shaka shouted to stop them, it was too late. The three who charged forward were pierced mid-stride by sharp blades. Transparent, irregular blades seemed to have been suspended in the air all along, just waiting for someone to walk into the trap!
And in the next second, identical blades filled half the conference room like a copied and pasted pattern. As Xu Huo waved his hand, they fell like a torrential rain, passing through Defense Barriers and protective suits without obstruction, swiftly reaping lives!
Blood splattered everywhere in the air and on the ground. In the blink of an eye, the entire conference room was drenched in blood. At this moment, these players, who had once terrorized Settlement 01, became like the ordinary slum residents—mere ants to be slaughtered.
One by one, people fell to the ground. The flowing red liquid soaked the floor, streaming out from under the pile of corpses and stopping at Xu Huo's feet.
Only a handful of people were still alive. They stared in disbelief at the scene before them, utterly unable to accept that their companions had been instantly killed—that was dozens of players, not a few stray cats or dogs!
"Xu Zhi!" Shaka, his legs injured, knelt on the ground, gritting his teeth as he called out the man's name. His eyes bloodshot, he roared, "I'll kill you!"
Xu Huo made a "please" gesture. But neither Shaka nor the few survivors had the strength to get up, including the once-arrogant Ji Minzhang.
Xu Huo smiled lightly, stepping through the blood to stand before Shaka. He kicked him to the ground and stepped on his head. "Killing all of you took only three minutes. The ones outside won't take much longer either."
As he spoke, he drew the Black Blade. Just as the tip was about to land on Shaka's face, the man suddenly arched his body, grabbing Xu Huo's legs, and roared at Ji Minzhang and the others, "Kill him!"
Xu Huo seemed to be immobilized by some force and couldn't move away, but that didn't stop him from acting. In the next instant, the Black Blade pierced through Shaka's chest, pinning him to the floor.
Shaka spat blood, but his hands still didn't let go. He could no longer speak, but his eyes were fixed on Ji Minzhang: This was their only chance!
Ji Minzhang and the others understood as well. If they didn't seize this opportunity to kill or injure Xu Huo, once he left the conference room, Central City would surely run with blood… But before they could break through the Defense Barrier, their heads flew off one by one. Their vision spun, and when it finally settled, they saw the clean, bright conference room from just minutes ago!
