# Chapter 1350: Neither Side Is Lying

"But you're slightly different from the Super Evolvers I've encountered before. Others generally control space rays to manipulate objects or use them as sharp weapons, but you manage to make the air explode. You must be using some auxiliary prop."

"Not even wearing gloves."

Bai Jing's expression remained unchanged. "It seems you're also a Super Evolver. I noticed it when you were moving earlier. You don't solely rely on space rays to shorten distances. You can disappear without a trace right in front of someone, and even at close range, no one can detect your presence. You're probably not using a prop for that, are you?"

"A dual-direction Super Evolver, and a C-level player at that. You're the first one I've ever known."

Xu Huo nodded slightly and pointed at the person on the ground. "Let's skip the small talk. This person is about to die."

Seeing their companion suffering, the expressions of the others present were far from pleasant. Two of them quickly moved to the rear and launched attacks from left and right. However, Xu Huo stood still. The "All Things Want to Cut Everything" he had already deployed nearby directly severed the props the two had released in reverse.

Opening a door on the ground to send the two away, Xu Huo glanced again at the player on the ground who was already in so much pain he could barely breathe. "How pitiful."

The Black Blade pressed against his throat. "Let me give you a quick death!"

"Wait!" Bai Jing shouted. "Let him go, and I can guarantee that my people will no longer interfere with your instance clearance!"

The blade still rested against the notebook player's throat without moving, but the man himself was convulsing in agony, inevitably bumping into the Black Blade. In moments, blood began to flow from his neck.

"That sounds familiar," Xu Huo raised an eyebrow. "Before entering Twin Cities, a Ya Clan member said the same thing to me—guaranteeing that his clansmen wouldn't ambush me again. What, do you Ya Clan people not communicate with each other?"

Bai Jing frowned but didn't pick up that topic. Instead, he asked, "Was the player we killed your friend?"

Xu Huo shook his head.

"Since that's not the case, then we can keep our distance and not interfere with each other," Bai Jing said.

"The Dr. Duo Er I brought with me has gone missing," Xu Huo said. "Those few unlucky ones who just died weren't the ones tracking me, and they weren't the ones who attracted the Xenomorphs either. Without Dr. Duo Er, how am I supposed to clear the instance?"

Bai Jing's expression darkened. He knew that since Xu Huo had taken the initiative to attack, it wouldn't be a simple probing mission. This matter couldn't be resolved peacefully.

"You're holding a hostage, so you must want something. You can make your demands," he said quickly.

Xu Huo nodded with satisfaction. "How many Dr. Duo Ers have you killed in the last ten days?"

"Fifteen," Bai Jing replied. "But I'm not sure if any of the fifteen dead were the real Dr. Duo Er."

"Do you have photos?" Xu Huo wanted to know what appearances the other Dr. Duo Ers had taken.

Bai Jing glanced at the notebook player. "Can you detoxify him first?"

Xu Huo was straightforward and immediately gave him an injection. When the notebook player's complexion improved, Bai Jing took out six photos. "Dr. Duo Ers who look identical to the one in the first photo account for one-third of the total."

The photo he referred to was the same appearance as the Dr. Duo Er Xu Huo had received.

"Why kill Dr. Duo Er? The genetic disease in Twin Cities shouldn't have anything to do with you," Xu Huo shifted the topic. "Or is it because you have a grudge against the people from Zone 023 that you don't want the people of Twin Cities to be saved?"

"Those people aren't from Zone 023 at all!" another Ya Clan member spoke indignantly. "Only we Ya Clan are the true people of Zone 023!"

"Alright, let's say what you're saying is true." Xu Huo skipped over the emotional venting of grievances. "But I encountered a Ya Clan member on the road, and judging by their bearing, they weren't the type to be so indiscriminate about right and wrong."

"If you knew what those people did to Zone 023, you wouldn't say that." Bai Jing's eyes revealed hatred. "They all deserve to die, and their sins are passed down through bloodlines... But intercepting and killing Dr. Duo Er wasn't out of revenge."

He quickly calmed his emotions and looked directly at Xu Huo. "I've heard that you Mental Super Evolvers are good at observing others' emotions and can tell from subtle cues whether someone is lying."

"Now I'll be honest with you. Dr. Duo Er is not some medical doctor researching genetic diseases at all. He is the mastermind behind live human experiments!"

"He studies genetics, but not to save the ordinary people of Twin Cities. He wants to create stronger, more game-suited Evolved Humans!"

Xu Huo's eyes narrowed. "The Ya Clan's genes are suitable for evolutionary modification?"

"That's right!" Bai Jing's chest heaved uncontrollably.

This shouldn't be.

Xu Huo made a deduction and quickly reached a conclusion.

Regardless of whether Dr. Duo Er or the people of Twin Cities were truly from Zone 023, the one thing both sides agreed on was the evolutionary disaster from over twenty years ago. The Ya Clan had been branded with numbers back then. Assuming they were used as experimental subjects, after more than twenty years, neither the Ya Clan nor Zone 023 had produced any remarkable players. This was enough to prove they didn't possess so-called "superior genes." For a project—whether it had yielded no results in twenty years or made no progress in twenty years—in the current environment of Zone 023, it should have been abandoned long ago, not continued to this day.

He released the player at his feet, returned his prop notebook, and said to Bai Jing and the others, "Your claims are quite shocking, but they differ from what the Twin Cities people say... Let's try a different approach."

With that, he brought over Dai Song, who had been hiding nearby.

Dai Song had been tracking the previous few players to this area. After dodging the explosion, he had planned to kill the survivors. Unexpectedly, Xu Huo had arrived. He chose to stay nearby, originally intending to pick off one or two Ya Clan members. To his disappointment, Xu Huo's goal wasn't killing but negotiation. In his frustration, he heard Bai Jing's remarks, which infuriated him even more. Thus, when Xu Huo forcibly brought him into their midst, his face was still filled with hatred. The moment he saw Bai Jing and the others up close, he immediately moved to attack.

Xu Huo stopped him.

Unable to break free from "Cannot Be Breached From Within," Dai Song glared angrily. "You've been on the Ya Clan's side all along, haven't you!"

"You'd better shut up for now," Xu Huo gave him a cold look. "I have no obligation to either of you. I only want to find out what I need to know. If I don't want to continue this conversation, I can use my ticket to leave anytime."

Bai Jing and his people had followed them midway, so of course they knew Dai Song was from Twin Cities—even if they hadn't known beforehand, his attitude toward the Ya Clan said it all.

But Xu Huo was a very worthwhile person to win over.

"What I said just now is the truth," Bai Jing added.

Dai Song didn't want to waste words with them, but he understood that if Xu Huo completely sided with the Ya Clan now, the team entering the Stairway to Heaven would soon be in trouble. The Ya Clan definitely had more than just these few. Once their position was confirmed, the killing would begin.

"I haven't lied either," he looked at Xu Huo. "If Dr. Duo Er isn't going to the secondary city to save its people, then let my entire family and all my brothers die without intact corpses!"
