Chapter 1292: For the Future of Fresh Flower City
The man patted his female companion on the bottom. "Don't be afraid, I'm here."
The two kissed each other as if no one else was around. Xu Huo and Chen Chou were trapped in the elevator, unable to leave or get out, forced to watch their performance.
Only when they had enjoyed themselves enough did the man pull Chen Chou's wheelchair out of the elevator. He bent down and slapped his face with the back of his hand. "I told you before, don't come out wandering around when you've got nothing to do. Haven't you seen how ugly you are? You've dragged down the entire appearance level of Fresh Flower City. If I were you, I'd have found a place to hide long ago. Yet here you are, covered in injuries and still running around outside. You really have no self-awareness at all."
Chen Chou's face was slapped with a sharp cracking sound. He tilted his head, waiting until the man had had his fill of hitting before forcing a smile. "I came to find Brother Le."
The man deliberately looked him up and down and sneered, "Got something good to offer?"
Chen Chou didn't dare not answer, so he mumbled vaguely, "Introducing a friend to Brother Le."
Only then did the man look at Xu Huo. After two seconds, he burst out laughing. "An ugly person's friend is also ugly!"
Xu Huo touched his fake face. "Although I'm not exactly handsome, I shouldn't be considered ugly, right?"
He smiled as he looked at the man. "It seems Fresh Flower City has very high appearance requirements for everyone who comes here."
The smile on the man's face disappeared. He stared at Xu Huo, and emboldened by the alcohol, was about to step forward, but somehow stumbled. Xu Huo caught him just in time.
Supporting him with one hand on his arm, Xu Huo waited until the man was steady, then lightly patted his shoulder. "Want some hangover tea?"
Although he was smiling, the man couldn't help but take two steps back. Realizing he had shown weakness, he hurriedly left with his female companion.
"Everyone here is like this." Chen Chou curled his lip. When they arrived outside Brother Le's room, he piled on a full-faced smile before even knocking.
The door was opened by a young man with a nose ring. He called inside, "Ugly guy's here," and a burst of laughter erupted from within, mixed with a voice saying, "Just heard about you and here you are. I want to see what the ugliest person in the world looks like. Let him in!"
Chen Chou's smile didn't waver. He walked in calmly and explained to the young man at the door that Xu Huo had come with him.
The environment in the room wasn't much better than downstairs. The air was filled with a cloyingly sweet smell. A young girl was popping floating balloons on one side of the room—the sweetness was leaking out of them.
Noticing Xu Huo watching, the girl rolled her eyes at him. "Never seen this before, you hick? It's the latest spray. Makes you happy with no side effects."
In simple terms, it was a stimulant.
There were clearly more than just this one type of stimulant in the room. Some were using a topical ointment, others had drinkable potions, and there were powders that could be sprinkled on food—a wide variety with simple methods of ingestion.
Stimulants in the game had effects similar to certain drugs, but they were safer and most weren't highly addictive, making them popular among both players and ordinary people. The players Xu Huo had killed before were specifically in the business of trafficking these—half of their luggage compartments were filled with them.
"Wow, he really is ugly." A woman nestled beside a man in his early thirties in the center of the room covered her mouth and laughed.
"Brother Le, this must be the sister-in-law." Chen Chou tactfully handed over a greeting gift and introduced Xu Huo to the man.
After they exchanged greetings, Xu Huo took out some potions he had obtained from other players' luggage compartments and warned, "Some of these are a bit strong. I don't usually use them."
This only piqued the others' interest. Players had sturdy bodies and could handle anything. Ordinary potions wouldn't cause problems. What he meant was that these weren't the standard stimulants available on the market, but rather good stuff that couldn't be bought through regular channels.
"Let me try." Someone immediately stepped forward. After a simple check, he couldn't wait to down a bottle. A few seconds later, he started laughing loudly, saying between laughs, "Thought it was something special. This is it?"
His words were tough, but he was laughing so hard he pounded the table. After a moment, he collapsed onto a soft chair, revealing a dreamy smile, so immersed in it that he couldn't even be bothered to respond when others spoke to him.
It seemed the effect was a bit strong, but he could still accurately respond to others, which put Brother Le and the rest at ease. Two more people picked up bottles to try.
The room fell quiet for a while. Xu Huo glanced at Chen Chou, who was stuffing food into his mouth, and said, "I'm going to the restroom."
Coming out of the restroom, he lit a cigarette on the second-floor viewing platform. Listening to the sounds inside and outside the room, he watched the people in the dance floor below.
There was nothing useful in the room, but outside on the street, some people were talking about Han Yi. It turned out Han Yi had also come here, but after his arrival, the people from that bar had been kicked out.
Xu Huo looked out the window. Outside the bar being discussed, four players were seated, while inside the bar, where the special walls didn't block perception, there were also six players. As for Han Yi and his group, there wasn't even a trace of them.
But these were all players in plain sight.
There were also many players in the surrounding area who were clearly their people.
The numbers were a bit high.
Xu Huo frowned and was about to leave when a thunderous crash suddenly came from the street: A burly man carrying a giant stone pillar, as thick as two men and seven or eight meters long, rammed it into the front door of the bar. The pillar seemed to be able to extend invisibly, getting stuck in the door before piercing through two more walls behind it.
"Ahhh!" With the burly man's roar, his arms bulged, his twitching muscles gripping the stone pillar firmly. Then he pushed sideways with all his might—the entire pillar tilted under his immense strength, twisting the whole bar in half!
The bar collapsed. Three players had just managed to escort Han Yi out when they were immediately surrounded and attacked by eight players. At the same time, the players who had been at the bar's entrance were also ambushed.
In an instant, the street seemed full of assassins. The attacking players were clearly an organized team, with coordinated attack methods targeting the Han family's players, allowing them, despite being slightly weaker, to effectively tie down Han Yi's main combat force.
"The Han family is the black sheep of Fresh Flower City! Han Yi's crimes are too numerous to list! Brothers and sisters, kill Han Yi and avenge our innocent dead compatriots!" the first burly man to act shouted.
Han Yi didn't flee. Protected by his players, he calmly watched these people incite the surrounding players. The three players beside him were like killing machines, successfully killing a player almost every half minute. No matter how many attackers charged, they couldn't break through their defense.
"Kill them all." Han Yi calmly ordered his protectors, as if treating everyone else like livestock.
One after another, players died before him, including a few who could have escaped but chose to sacrifice themselves to buy time for their companions behind. Blood covered the ground, but the three players' defensive circle closed again.
It seems the system has been under maintenance recently, so new comments can't be seen in the comment section, but the author's backend can still be viewed. It should be fixed in a few days.
