Chapter 1263: Medical Alert
"Are there people from Fresh Flower City on the ship?" Someone jeered, looking around in all directions.
"Aren't they over there?" A person who knew something about Fresh Flower City recognized two of them. "See the lace peeking out from the collars of their cloaks? That's the unique emblem of Fresh Flower City."
It was a mother and child. The child was no more than six or seven years old and was still held in the mother's arms. Facing the crowd's gaze, the mother stood up to leave, but a nearby passenger reached out to stop her. "Don't be in such a hurry to go. Are all people from Fresh Flower City this arrogant, unwilling to even say a word to an outsider?"
"I have something to attend to..." The mother tried to leave urgently, but before she could finish, the person blocking her suddenly yanked off her cloak, revealing a set of clothes specially made by the Fresh Flower City government for all its citizens.
For a city with such excellent welfare as Fresh Flower City, the government takes care of everything from food and clothing to housing and transportation. However, since it's a unified custom order, the clothes are mostly similar. And because Fresh Flower City particularly likes vibrant colors, their clothes are mostly white with embroidered patterns, the designs changing with the seasons...
But surprisingly, this outfit seemed to attract a lot of hatred.
The people who had been gathered together discussing all the benefits of Fresh Flower City now looked at the mother and child with a kind of natural malice.
"I thought all the people from Fresh Flower City were some kind of outstanding breed, but I didn't expect there were ones like this too." The man who had torn off the cloak laughed loudly.
The onlookers joined in the uproar. Someone said, "Some people are just born with luck, landing a good fate, and they can live their whole lives without worrying about food or clothing, just lying around!"
"Too bad the household registration in Fresh Flower City is so strict now. Otherwise, I'd move into the city halfway too. At least I'm strong and healthy, I can contribute something to the city. That's much better than freeloading like this!"
"If you ask me, Fresh Flower City should implement an elimination system, culling a batch of people who don't produce anything every year. I guarantee the city environment would get better and better!"
"If I could live a few carefree years in Fresh Flower City, I'd even be willing to be flower fertilizer in the future..."
The crowd chattered on, not hiding their envy for the clothes representing Fresh Flower City residents or their jealousy towards the mother and child. However, since there were monitoring devices around, they didn't dare to do anything more excessive.
The woman seemed well-versed in dealing with this situation. She simply covered her child, lowered her head, and said nothing. The others, seeing that she had no reaction after so long and not daring to actually lay hands on her, found it boring and sat down.
The woman carried her child to a corner.
Xu Huo was not far away. He walked over and handed her a potion. "Your child is sick. Don't wrap him up so tightly."
The woman gave him a wary look, not even paying attention to the potion in his hand, and quickly walked away with the child again.
"She won't take anything from you." An old man drinking nearby burped and wiped his mouth. "People living in Fresh Flower City have everything. Why would they use a cheap potion from an outsider like you? Every household there uses high-grade potions issued by the government... It's not fair. Why don't we get that kind of treatment..."
Xu Huo hadn't expected such severe household registration discrimination to exist in the game world.
But the woman's condition didn't seem like someone who was "pampered and comfortable."
This was just a minor incident on the airship. Xu Huo didn't pay it much attention. When the ship was about a third of the way through its journey, six players avoided the monitors and secretly boarded the ship from different places.
This wasn't surprising. In places full of monitors, behavioral norms are relatively stricter. This is especially true for players—whether locals or players from other zones—who are more likely to break the rules. Once under official surveillance or wanted, they can't freely use any means of transportation. After all, the monitors in Zone 001 can identify people based on their behavioral habits. While appearance and physique can be changed, behavioral habits are harder to alter.
However, on a cheap, high-capacity airship like this, the monitors couldn't possibly be one-to-one, so the chances of sneaking through were relatively high.
Coincidentally, the two people who came up near Xu Huo were exactly the ones being chased in the hotel. Although they had changed their appearances, the numbers floating above their heads were too obvious to ignore, not to mention they still had the "Friend or Foe" mark on them.
"Friend or Foe" could mark up to ten people at once. Whether friend or foe, as long as the target appeared within a fifty-meter range, a prompt would appear, even if their appearance had been altered.
Compared to the broad application of Trait Scoring, "Friend or Foe" could accurately tell which of these people had been seen before and which were simply strangers with ill intent.
The two with the high ponytails also spotted Xu Huo from a distance, but their emotional coloring towards him didn't change much. The Trait Score above their heads was 5, and the color of the number was also light.
They walked past him without looking sideways, just like the other players on the ship.
The two finally stopped in a crowded area not far from Xu Huo and quickly blended into the chatting crowd, as if they had been talking to them all along.
Just then, the airship's alarm suddenly went off. Red warning lights on the ship's dome flashed continuously, and the passing monitors suddenly stopped and broadcast a warning:
"A passenger has triggered a medical alert. Please do not move around randomly to prevent a stampede!"
All the nearby flying monitors were broadcasting this notification. But if one paid close attention, they could see that while the notification was playing, the metal ring in the middle of the egg-shaped monitors slid downward, revealing a ring of small holes the size of beans.
Those were weapon ports.
Some people on the ship were nervous about this sudden incident, while others were used to it. From their conversations, Xu Huo learned that this kind of alarm was only triggered when a seriously ill person appeared. At that point, the ship's medical robots would immediately be dispatched. Although they would fly through the air and wouldn't interfere with the ground, it could inevitably cause unnecessary misunderstandings, hence the advance warning.
Sure enough, a few seconds later, two half-human-height robots quickly flew over the heads of the crowd.
"It's just someone getting sick. Wouldn't making such a big fuss cause more panic?" A newly arrived player didn't understand.
Someone also provided an explanation. Several large cities in Zone 001 had precedents of players using sick or injured people to create incidents, resulting in significant casualties. So, if any sudden situation occurred on large public transportation, the monitoring robots would take control of the scene immediately—except for those with ill intentions, no one would normally be unable to wait a few minutes.
"Times really have changed. Robots can handle emergency medical situations now." A player sighed with emotion.
A resident of Zone 001 felt very proud and added, "If the robots can't handle it, a medical team will arrive within ten minutes."
Most people on the ship were discussing the airship's emergency response speed. Xu Huo took the opportunity to look towards the scene of the incident and found that the ones who had triggered the medical alert were the mother and child from earlier. The woman was holding her child, who was breathing rapidly, and looking at the robots defensively, not allowing them to approach.
