Chapter 1222: Six Types of Cards or Seven Types of Cards
None of the people present spoke, and after asking his question, Xu Huo slowly added, "I think Fresh Flower City is pretty good. Maybe if we scatter flower petals from above, the residents below will think it's a celebration."
"Indiscriminate attack—anyone, including players, could get caught. Even if players manage to escape, one or two of their relatives will likely fall. It's both intimidating and dramatic. Whether it's the 001 Government, the base, or the Stellar Corporation, even with zero casualties, they'll still feel this threat from the players."
After a long pause, Mu Yan finally spoke, "Are you serious?"
Xu Huo's gaze swept across the faces of the three men, including the glasses-wearing one, before he relaxed his expression and smiled. "Where? I'm just talking big."
The three players were somewhat awkward. A few seconds later, the glasses-wearing man said, "That method might actually be reliable."
Xu Huo lowered his head with a smile and said nothing more. Beside him, Mu Yan couldn't hold back any longer. "The E27 General Government is in District 001. Card City and Fresh Flower City are both relatively important cities. Every player steps into surveillance range the moment they get off the train. Unless someone can completely disguise their appearance, body shape, and behavioral habits in an extremely short time, the instruments can easily identify a player's identity."
"Even if someone manages to change their appearance, if a person suddenly disappears in a certain area, the instruments will first rule out the possibility of leaving by ticket, then begin screening the vicinity—looking for suddenly appearing people, unfamiliar faces. If those checks turn up nothing, they'll start inspecting the surrounding facilities. Key locations go without saying, but nearby shops, small stores, restrooms, and underground pipelines are all included in the inspection..."
"Honestly, if you really tried to hijack an aircraft, you'd probably be added to the danger list just by getting close. With any suspicious move, an A-level player would immediately confront you. If an A-level player isn't enough, there are Super Evolvers stationed there."
"The heir of the Field Clan is here, and this is the seat of the E27 General Government. There might be more than one Super Evolver."
As everyone knew, the Game Government also had Super Evolvers internally, and these players were never ranked during their training.
If someone could actually stir up trouble in District 001, they'd deserve admiration.
And even if they managed to escape by luck, they'd likely end up as wanted criminals.
"Well," the bearded man rubbed his chin, "actually, we were just talking big, joking around. No need to be so serious."
This time, it was Mu Yan's turn to be a bit awkward.
"Maybe we should just talk about this instance," the pot-bellied man said to ease the tension. "Do you know how many categories of number cards there are?"
"Besides trap cards, clue cards, and cancel cards, are there any other types?" Mu Yan quickly picked up the conversation.
"There are also location cards," the glasses-wearing man said. "Among the number cards, there are a few specifically designed to indicate the positions of the flower cards."
"Among the number cards, trap cards seem to be especially numerous," Xu Huo added. "On the way here, the most common cards we encountered were trap cards."
The pot-bellied man raised his index finger and shook it. "Each type of number card has an equal quantity."
Xu Huo tilted his head slightly. This was a very important piece of information.
"This is the first time I've heard that," the bearded man said, his expression turning slightly serious. "Has it been verified?"
"At least I haven't verified it," the pot-bellied man said. "But I bought this information from a contact on the District 001 player forum. It's reliable. They have internal channels, and the information they provide comes from high-level players who have personally cleared instances. It's 99% accurate."
The group silently calculated the types of cards. After a moment, the glasses-wearing man said, "If that's the case, 42 cards wouldn't be enough to divide evenly."
"Trap cards, clue cards, cancel cards, and location cards—that's four categories total."
"Then there should be more than four types of cards," the bearded man said. "With a minimum of four types, to evenly divide the 42 cards excluding the flower cards, there should be at least six types of cards."
Based on the information Xu Huo had obtained, the four types mentioned earlier should also include a draw card. Additionally, the "call card" player who appeared last night might have been holding a type of number card, rather than a special effect obtained from the maze wall.
However, that would make the quantity of each card type an odd number. Among the number cards he knew of, only number 12 had both black and white versions with clearly defined effects. Number 12 cards, regardless of color, were both trap cards.
If the card face content classification for the same number was identical, then odd numbers couldn't exist. The number of card types would need to increase by at least one more, dividing into at least seven categories to ensure each type had three pairs.
Of course, the possibility of odd numbers couldn't be ruled out, since the content of number cards could change. During the game, the nature of the cards wasn't necessarily fixed.
"There are two more types of cards we don't know about," the pot-bellied man said. "If only we could run into a few more players, we might be able to figure it out by pooling our information."
"Speak of the devil," the glasses-wearing man suddenly said, looking down one end of the passage. "Isn't someone coming over there?"
He was looking in the direction behind Xu Huo, but Xu Huo knew without turning around that there was no one there.
"You're seeing things. Where's anyone?" the bearded man followed his gaze.
"The fog is too thick," the glasses-wearing man said. "Isn't there someone standing in the fog?"
As he spoke, he stood up and waved at the person. "Hey, buddy, come over and warm up with us!"
The bearded man and the pot-bellied man exchanged glances. The latter said, "There's really no one there. Are you poisoned?"
Hearing this, the glasses-wearing man immediately took out a detection instrument. Mu Yan interrupted, "If it's hallucination caused by a mutant plant, the instrument in your hand probably can't detect it. Use mine."
She handed over a blood detection instrument that looked significantly more technologically advanced.
The glasses-wearing man glanced at it, then took it without hesitation and pressed it against his finger. The number that popped up after the test was 2.6.
"A hallucinogen content in the blood exceeding 2 means poisoning," Mu Yan said quickly. "But it's not serious. Just drink two bottles of antidote. I'll name them, and you buy them yourself."
The glasses-wearing man followed her instructions and purchased the antidote. After taking it, he looked again toward the thick fog, then smiled at Mu Yan. "You know this maze well?"
"I just know the habits of some mutant plants," Mu Yan said. "It has to do with my previous profession."
"Not a bad profession," the glasses-wearing man praised. "It makes it easier to find a job in the district government. Getting a gray player identity or even leaving the game is possible."
Mu Yan also sidestepped this question and changed the subject. "How should we arrange the night watch?"
"I'm a night owl. I can skip sleep. You guys do what you want," the glasses-wearing man said with a shrug.
Xu Huo glanced at him. "I can take the second half of the night."
"I'm getting old, so I'll take advantage of that," the pot-bellied man said with a smile. "Little girl, you can keep me company."
The bearded man had no objections and was nodding in agreement when his head suddenly fell from his neck!
