Chapter 1189: One or Two Idiots

That cannibal player didn't just sit back and wait for death either. A faint light flashed in front of him, and the white gauze was instantly cut open. He turned around while still in a kneeling position, slapped both hands on the floor of the carriage, and a huge man-eating flower rapidly grew up, its thorn-covered petals biting toward the female player!

The female player calmly dodged this attack, but the mucus sprayed by the man-eating flower burned off her sleeve. She glanced down at it, then flung out several finger-thick crescent-shaped items.

Several small knife-like items whirled rapidly through the carriage, launching targeted attacks at the cannibal player, forcing him out of the carriage.

At this point, closing the carriage door would have put an end to the fight, but neither side had any intention of doing so. After the cannibal player went out, he stuffed a pill into his mouth, then prostrated himself on the ground. In the blink of an eye, scale-like things grew on his exposed hands and feet, and his physique also increased slightly. It was clear that his strength had been significantly enhanced.

He also became faster. When the female player was about to enter the transition car, he suddenly leaped to the doorway, colliding head-on with her. Even with a defense item offsetting some of the impact, the female player was still knocked back into the carriage. Before she could even steady herself, the cannibal player was already in her face again!

Moreover, that cannibal player seemed to have learned his lesson. Knowing that touching her body would cause muscle weakness, he put on a protective suit. With the protection of elastic and somewhat corrosion-resistant fabric, the cannibal player could fully exploit his advantages.

Facing the relentless attacks, the female player struggled to cope. She didn't seem very skilled at close-quarters combat. In the three minutes of fighting, she had sustained two minor wounds, and most of the time, she was using items to offset the cannibal player's assaults.

The more she retreated, the more excited the cannibal player became, his expression twisting as if stimulated by the smell of blood. But that's when the unexpected happened—there was another pair of players fighting in the carriage. As they crossed paths, the female player used a White Note to pull one of them forward, causing him to crash right into the cannibal player!

The carriage fell silent for a moment, then the cannibal player's corpse hit the floor. A player sitting in a nearby seat flicked the blood splattered on his hat, kicked the iron rod out and collected it, then covered his face with his hat as if none of this had anything to do with him.

It was normal for someone to make a dirty move during a fight. The remaining three didn't stop. The man who had been set up by the female player immediately added both opponents to his kill list, and the melee began again.

Two against one. With no clear advantage, the injured player was at a disadvantage. In the end, he was forced to retreat to the transition car behind, sealing the carriage door with an item as he went.

Inside the carriage, the female player exchanged a glance with the other player, then they distanced themselves and returned to their respective seats.

After the minor scuffle, the carriage fell quiet. As time passed, the carriages in front and behind gradually quieted down as well. Just when everyone thought nothing else would happen that night, a bright light suddenly flared up from one of the front carriages—no one knew which one.

"What kind of idiot..." Accompanied by curses, all the players in the carriages snapped awake, on high alert, staring outside!

The roars of xenomorphs and the sounds of carriages being breached rang out one after another, followed by players' shouts and small-scale explosions. The train continued to race along the tracks, with corpses and blood being flung forward from the front. Players in the rear carriages could feel the agitation of the xenomorphs clinging to the outside of the train. For some unknown reason, the xenomorphs on other carriages—like the one Xu Huo was in—weren't all drawn to the front by the bright light. When the light flared, they only stomped around in a frenzy, and now that agitation had merely escalated.

Everyone in the carriages couldn't help but hold their breath, as if that might avert a disaster. In reality, normal activities inside the carriage wouldn't attract the attention of the xenomorphs outside, but if the xenomorphs that had boarded the train weren't all the same type, that was a different story.

Some xenomorphs were sensitive to light, others to sound. The keener the senses of a xenomorph, the higher its level. Sometimes, if you were unlucky, you might encounter xenomorphs that could be activated by the slightest movement, making the nights on the train even harder to get through. If one person had a problem, it could endanger the entire train.

But they were in luck. The xenomorphs outside the carriage didn't make any further moves, and as the fierce battle in the front carriages subsided, the xenomorphs on the other carriages gradually calmed down as well.

The train's progress wasn't disrupted.

The players inside the carriage also breathed a sigh of relief.

The player wearing the hat lowered his voice and said, "Every time I ride this train, I run into one or two idiots."

Idiots wasn't quite the word. If it weren't for wanting to drag someone down with them, no one would be bored enough to turn on a light.

The rest of the night was relatively peaceful, with no further incidents until dawn. It was only after daybreak that the players in the rear carriages learned that the third carriage had exploded. The flight attendant had set up an emergency passage in that empty carriage, but players were not allowed to pass through.

"I hope we don't get another idiot like that tonight." The hat-wearing player went to check the front, then came back and said only this as he looked around the carriage.

"I think you could say a little less," another man with a buzz cut said to him. "Provoking others only increases the chance of something happening tonight."

The hat-wearing player shot him a cold glance and returned to his seat to order food.

Xu Huo ordered a simple meal, gave the flight attendant the usual tip, and then ate in silence.

The female player across from him wasn't watching a show today. Instead, she said to him apologetically, "I'm really sorry about last night. I disturbed you."

She had accidentally involved Xu Huo during her fight with the cannibal player.

"It's nothing." Xu Huo looked at the food in front of her. "Are you on a diet?"

The female player was eager to chat with him and explained, "I haven't eaten meat for a long time."

Since the game began, many players had developed this aftereffect.

"It's still a mental fortitude issue," the female player said self-deprecatingly. "That's why my physical fitness is a bit lacking."

Xu Huo didn't think she seemed lacking. "It's fine. You'll get used to it gradually."

"Maybe." The female player stuffed some vegetables into her mouth and introduced herself, "My name is Ye Bingxin."
