Chapter 1182: Dr. Zhang's Lesson

The staff filed out one after another, with Nie Xuan being the last. Before leaving, he deliberately patted Xu Huo on the shoulder and asked, "If something unexpected happens midway, how do you plan to arrange your funeral?"

Xu Huo raised an eyebrow. "At least I'll take a group of people with me. Going alone would be a bit too lonely."

Nie Xuan let out a scornful laugh. "I'm just afraid you won't have that chance."

Xu Huo laughed along with him, half-lying down on the chair. "Then I'll trouble you to keep an eye on Tang Guangbo for me."

"Small matter." Nie Xuan's smile faded, and he said seriously, "But I really do hope he pulls some tricks midway."

"You're not holding back at all." Xu Huo said. "Even if I light this fuse, he might not necessarily walk into it."

"Depends on luck." Nie Xuan shrugged. "Things haven't happened yet; who knows if it'll be good or bad."

With that, he left the treatment room.

Then Tang Guangbo entered, and the frosted glass of the treatment room turned transparent.

Tang Guangbo was wearing a white lab coat and said quite humorously, "Although I don't usually wear this outfit during treatments, today is special. I feel this makes it more solemn."

Xu Huo remained half-lying down without moving, his hands folded over his chest, turning the tables on him: "Professor Tang, please have a seat."

The doctor's seat was about two meters away. After sitting down, Tang Guangbo placed his tools on the small table beside him and said, "I knew the last time you left that this day would come. Your psychological issues are more serious than you imagine."

"Isn't that why I'm here for treatment?" Xu Huo said indifferently. "Last time, a doctor surnamed Zhang treated me. I wonder how your medical skills compare to his."

Tang Guangbo paused in his movements, turned back to look at him, and after a moment, smiled. "We'll only know after a comparison."

"You're a Mental Evolver, so ordinary hypnosis methods won't work." He pushed a nearby instrument over. "Try this."

With that, he plugged the connector into the chair. Once the instrument started, the seat began to vibrate with a faint amplitude, bringing Xu Huo a brief but not unpleasant dizziness. He closed his eyes.

"Don't resist this feeling, or we might not get to the main point today." Tang Guangbo said from the side. "Now, imagine there's a clock in front of you. If you feel you've successfully entered the state, turn it clockwise; otherwise, turn it counterclockwise."

Xu Huo closed his eyes, carefully experiencing the sensation like being washed by flowing water, and let his thoughts sink into the darkness.

As his perception of time became blurred, he heard the dripping sound of water—drip, drop, drip, drop—in his ears. Turning to look for the source of the sound, he was startled to find himself standing in a dark space. The water sound came from beneath his feet. When he walked, ripples formed on the water surface underfoot, accompanied by sound.

This was probably a symbol during the hypnosis process.

Xu Huo raised his hand and turned it clockwise, then continued walking forward.

There was no goal in his walking; he just moved by instinct. But as the water sounds grew denser, a patch of black fog blocked his path ahead. However, his intuition told him he could pass through.

So he walked in without hesitation.

But being in the darkness brought a new problem: the water sounds disappeared, and the space fell into complete silence. Without the water sounds and ripples, he lost the basis for judging distance, and that faint dizziness now became an obstacle to perceiving his environment. Soon, he was lost.

"Tick!" The sound of a second hand jumping came from some direction. Xu Huo seized this clue and followed it. After wandering in the darkness for a while, he barely managed to pinpoint the source of the sound. But as he approached, the path beneath his feet turned into a bridge, and the bridge was broken in the middle, with the other half offset by at least twenty meters.

At this distance, he couldn't possibly jump across.

Sensing that there was nothing between the two broken sections, Xu Huo had to retreat from the bridge, planning to find another way around.

"Tick! Tick! Tick!" The sound of the pointer jumping became urgent, as if urging him to cross the bridge.

Xu Huo paused and said to the empty darkness, "Can you make the bridge connect?"

The sound of the pointer softened.

Xu Huo continued in his own direction. Soon, another broken bridge appeared in his field of vision. This time, he stepped onto it and tried again, but instinct told him it was impossible to cross unless the bridge reconnected.

So he got off the bridge again, this time turning back.

Before long, he returned to the place where the water had been dripping. But this time, instead of floating on the water surface as before, he sank beneath it.

This was an illusion within the spiritual realm; he wouldn't actually drown. So he followed his "body" as it sank, gradually descending into the depths of darkness. Feeling a vibration in the water, his vision suddenly brightened.

"Take your medicine and obediently take a nap, okay?" A strange woman crouched in front of him, holding a medicine box, and said gently, "This is the new medicine Dr. Zhang prescribed for you. I heard he brought it back from abroad—it's the latest and the best. Because you're the most well-behaved, you get to take it. Xiao Liang doesn't even have it."

Xu Huo's hand was that of a child. He patted the table. "Just leave it here. I'll take it later in front of Xiao Liang."

The strange woman smiled, put down the medicine, patted his head, and left.

After she left, Xu Huo jumped off the bed, poured the medicine into the toilet, then lay down for a nap. When the nap was over, he put on his shoes and walked out of the ward.

Coming out at the same time were Xiao Liang, Chang Bei, and a few other children. Xiao Liang showed great disgust toward him, but Chang Bei secretly greeted him.

During this short walk through the corridor, Xu Huo found himself isolated by the other children.

When they stood at the door, Dr. Zhang happened to open it. He gently waved them in, closed the door, and said, "Today, I need to choose one child to conduct a test."

Xiao Liang immediately raised his hand. "Doctor, let me!"

Dr. Zhang ignored his self-nomination and asked the children with a smile, "Did you all take your medicine at noon today?"

The children nodded in unison, including Xu Huo.

But Dr. Zhang pointed at Xu Huo. "Why did you pour the medicine into the toilet?"

Even though he was exposed, Xu Huo showed no fear. He sat at the small table. "I'm not sick; I don't need to take medicine."

"That wasn't medicine for curing illness." Dr. Zhang raised his hand, lightly tapped the table with his index finger, and the several pens on the table all floated up. He looked at Xu Huo. "That was a medicine that can make you surpass humans."

"Why surpass humans?" Xu Huo looked up at him. "After surpassing humans, are you still human?"

Dr. Zhang smiled, pointed his finger through the air, and the pens snapped in midair on their own. Then, different parts of the pens recombined into new, fused pens that were complete and showed no signs of damage except for the color.

"Surpassing humans does not mean leaving the realm of humanity. No one can ever leave the realm of humanity."

"So you must remember: no matter how powerful a person is, they are still just a person."
