# Chapter 104: The Righteous Don't Kill
"Now Wu Qiuyi is dead by accident, and I'm injured. Ke Liang never left your sight the whole time, yet he wants to pin this on a nonexistent outsider—he's just trying to hide in the shadows and strike when the time is right!"
The expressions of Ke Liang and the others, including Wang Chaoqing who was kneeling beside Xu Huo, all shifted subtly.
"According to your logic, wouldn't it be more fitting for me to blame Wang Chaoqing?" Xu Huo waited until he finished speaking before replying. "After all, the dead can't testify."
"Do you take everyone for fools? Wang Chaoqing isn't cut out for that."
"Mm, what you're saying does make some sense." Xu Huo swept his gaze across the group. "But right now, only my sword might be able to cut through the door. Do you have any other ideas?"
"It's just a prop. Kill you and we can still use it." Lin Pei's gaze was cold and sinister.
Ke Liang retreated behind Xu Huo.
"Hey, guys, we were having a nice conversation—why are we suddenly talking about fighting?" Shen Yi raised his voice.
Unfortunately, no one paid him any attention.
Xu Huo looked at Lin Pei with curiosity. "What if my sword can't break through the door either? How do you plan to get out?"
"Of course we'd go find the switch." Lin Pei sneered. "You don't think you're the only capable one here, do you?"
"Then what were you doing during that week before I arrived?" Xu Huo stared intently. Seeing that his expression didn't change, he suddenly understood. "Oh, I see—you think that killing me will definitely let you get out."
"Under normal circumstances, when there's suspicion of other people being present, teammates shouldn't easily attack each other. You don't have a single solid clue, just baseless assumptions. You're certain I'm lying, certain there's no one else in the town, and you're demanding my death outright. You think the prop I got from Master Nisai's residence is the key to leaving this town, don't you?"
"The sneak attack earlier was also for the prop."
"You were the one who decided the search area distribution back then. Maybe you already knew there was a prop—or something you considered important—in Master Nisai's residence, but you couldn't find it. So you took the risk of luring me there, then ambushed me when I was about to leave, trying to confirm whether I'd gotten it."
"But unfortunately, the prop I found has nothing to do with leaving this town."
"Of course, it's also possible that you simply wanted the prop."
He was quite disappointed. He'd thought Lin Pei had some other purpose, maybe related to the method of Perfect Evolution. But it turned out he was only after a prop. Perhaps he knew a little about the dungeon clues, but definitely not much.
Xu Huo paused, then looked at Gu Yu and the others one by one. "As for you all—you don't trust the people who've fought alongside you, but you have absolute faith in someone who disappeared midway and came back using a self-injury trick. This is the game world. Serious injuries can heal, and death can bring rebirth. Could you please stop treating your brains like decorations?"
"Forget it. Talking more is useless. Since you're all injured and the aliens have been mostly dealt with, there's no place for you to contribute anyway. Killing you all wouldn't matter."
Gu Yu and the others hadn't even finished digesting the hidden information in his words—what Master Nisai's prop was, what the key to leaving the town was, how Lin Pei turned out to be the one who launched the sneak attack, how he knew about the so-called prop, whether he was really uninjured—and now they were flushed red with shame from his scolding.
They had wavered, yes, but they would never join Lin Pei in killing anyone, nor would they sit by and watch him be killed. But before they could explain, they were stunned by his "killing you all wouldn't matter"!
Why?
Didn't that whole revelation just mean Lin Pei was the villain and he was the righteous one on their side? Why was he the one wanting to kill everyone?!
Lin Pei was equally caught off guard. When Xu Huo exposed his intentions, he was still thinking about how to convince Ke Liang and the others to stand with him. Now that step could be skipped, because Xu Huo had no intention of arguing with them—he was going to take them all out in one go!
Among the players present, aside from Gu Yu, everyone else was injured. And Gu Yu had lost a powerful prop, severely reducing her combat effectiveness. In contrast, Xu Huo only had minor injuries, plus he still had that unknown powerful prop!
Flee or wait?
Before Lin Pei could make a decision, a string wrapped around his throat and yanked him off the ground!
Xu Huo used the string to control him first, then his heels tapped the ground twice in quick succession. With lightning speed, he kicked the approaching Ke Liang and Shen Yi flying in opposite directions!
His speed was too fast—neither of them could react. One rolled more than ten meters away, the other crashed into a concrete pillar. Neither could get up for the moment!
Meanwhile, Xu Huo grabbed Gu Yu by the throat with one hand and turned his head to look at Wang Chaoqing, who was half-crouching.
Wang Chaoqing, who had been having thoughts just a second ago, instantly felt all his ideas vanish when he met those eyes. He put on a fawning smile. "Brother Xu, I'm firmly on your side!"
Xu Huo tilted his head toward Shen Xin. Wang Chaoqing immediately jumped up, pinned her hands behind her back, and pressed her shoulders down, shouting, "Stay still!"
Shen Xin struggled, speaking breathlessly. "Xu Huo, I really misjudged you. I thought you were a good person!"
"Let my sister go!" Shen Yi hoisted a cabinet to throw it over. Wang Chaoqing, learning on the fly, grabbed Shen Xin's neck and turned her toward him. "Don't move! Or I won't be polite!"
Shen Yi hesitated, forced to drop his "weapon," and glared hatefully at Wang Chaoqing. "Be careful. If anything happens to Shen Xin, I'll take you down with me!"
On the other side, Ke Liang also didn't dare act rashly. His gaze flickered between Gu Yu and Lin Pei.
"Urgh..." Gu Yu clawed frantically at Xu Huo's arm, tears spilling from the corners of her eyes. She glared hatefully at the man's cold face, trying to dig her nails into him, but her arms weren't long enough—she could only scratch at the area below his shoulder.
Xu Huo didn't even look at the person rolling her eyes in his grip. Instead, he spoke to Lin Pei. "With these people, I don't even need to use props. All your scheming to win them over looks pretty ridiculous."
Lin Pei, who had been hanging with his injured leg dangling, hoping his "companions" would "save" him, stopped struggling futilely. He pulled his legs in, flipped half a turn in the air to free himself from the string, and the moment he landed, a longbow appeared in his hand. He nocked an arrow and shot it at Xu Huo!
Xu Huo was already on guard. He sidestepped, and the arrow embedded itself in the ground!
He glanced at it, a hint of amusement in his voice. "Your arrows have lost their auto-targeting function? Looks like this gas station with no walls on any side isn't conducive to your abilities."
Lin Pei's pupils contracted violently. The look he gave Xu Huo carried a hint of gnashing hatred. Just one exchange, and this man had seen through his prop's characteristics!
"You're clever. How about we join forces?" he called out. "Kill these people, split the props, and go our separate ways once we're out!"
Ke Liang and the others were furious!
Xu Huo released Gu Yu. The blood-red sword suddenly appeared in his hand, and he slashed down through the air!
"Boom!" The lounge several meters away was cut in half. Lin Pei, who had been standing in front of it, used his injured leg to push off and leap onto the gas station roof. He fired one arrow back over his shoulder without looking, then fled headlong into the depths of the town!
