Chapter 100: Explosive Combat Power and Vitality
Xu Huo separated from the group, while Gu Yu and the Shen Yi siblings ran toward Wu Qiuyi's direction.
At the same time, Lin Pei and Ke Liang, who had split off from them, also appeared on Wu Qiuyi's left and right respectively. All six of them flanked the xenomorph from both sides.
In terms of speed, they were far inferior to the xenomorph, so when the creature arrived at the target location from several streets away, they also happened to reach the small buildings on either side.
This xenomorph, less than one meter six in height, had first been wounded on its face and chest, then crashed through a small building, but its running speed hadn't diminished at all. Moreover, it seemed smarter than other xenomorphs. Although attracted by the bell sounds, it didn't approach the source directly. Instead, from over ten meters away, it took advantage of its running momentum to casually pull a trash can from the roadside and hurl it forward!
The string of bells, along with the curtain cloth, was sent flying. The dolls on the street screamed one after another, their overlapping voices giving Wu Qiuyi and the others an opportunity!
Shen Yi and Ke Liang lifted oil barrels and poured them downstairs. The xenomorph, which had been perking up its ears to distinguish the dolls' positions, was drenched!
Everyone was delighted. Lin Pei then threw a lit lighter. As the flames licked up, the xenomorph burst into fire!
"It worked!" Lin Pei said excitedly.
The fully ignited xenomorph writhed in agony on the ground, occasionally tilting its head back to emit sharp, thin cries. Gu Yu took this chance to fire two shots at its feet. Two bursts of blood mist exploded, and the xenomorph screamed again before plunging headfirst into a building on the side!
"Strike while the iron is hot!" Ke Liang leaped down and charged in, followed closely by Shen Yi.
"Don't go in!" Lin Pei shouted from upstairs, but it was too late. Ke Liang, who had entered first, flew back out clutching a solid wood cabinet, colliding with Shen Yi, who was two steps behind. The two rolled together into the street across the way. Before they could even get up, the xenomorph crashed down onto the cabinet pinning them!
The reappeared xenomorph had its flames extinguished. Gu Yu fired two more shots from upstairs, but unexpectedly, it turned around and casually caught the two bullets with its hand!
The Rainbow Gun's bullets weren't unlimited; each shot used one up. Gu Yu had used the most powerful white bullets to seal the ground cage, so she had just fired two green bullets. These could corrode less sturdy items like paper or cloth and naturally harmed humans, but this xenomorph caught the bullets, letting them melt, completely unfazed by the corrosive pain on its palm.
Not only that, it seemed to have pinpointed Gu Yu's position. Grabbing the cabinet, it first knocked Ke Liang and Shen Yi away, then spun and hurled it!
The cabinet, with power no less than a cannonball, exploded at Gu Yu's hiding spot. The flying wood shards served as a secondary attack. Even though Gu Yu and Shen Xin retreated in time, both were covered in bloody scratches, especially Gu Yu, whose face and arms were embedded with wooden splinters.
"I make my living off my face!" Gu Yu roared in anger as she came to her senses, rushing back to the rooftop edge and unleashing a barrage on the xenomorph!
This was, of course, her ideal scenario—using the height advantage to suppress the xenomorph on the ground. In reality, she only fired two shots before the xenomorph leaped out from the rooftop edge, its fingers slicing toward her wrist!
"Crack!" The prop gun snapped in two.
Gu Yu gripped the broken half, her expression horrified. If she hadn't pulled back fast enough, it would have been her arm that was severed!
"Whoosh!" A large net was thrown from the opposite building, catching the xenomorph and pulling it downstairs.
"What are you standing around for!" Lin Pei shouted angrily. "Get out of here!"
Gu Yu turned and fled, but out of the corner of her eye, she saw the xenomorph, dangling midair, tear through the net. Before she could leave the building, it had already escaped and was climbing rapidly up the net rope!
Lin Pei, startled, quickly dropped the prop, but by then the xenomorph had grabbed the rooftop edge. With a flick of the net rope, it knocked him over, then jumped downstairs, dragging Lin Pei toward the ground!
"Grab it!" Shen Yi roared from not far away. Lin Pei, lying face up, suddenly saw a rope spring flying toward him in his field of vision. He quickly caught it, while the other end was held by Ke Liang, who shot out over ten meters, instantly tightening the rope!
Lin Pei was suspended at the height of the second floor, with the net rope hanging from his feet and the spring rope in his hands, his body slanted in the air—still in danger.
At that moment, the xenomorph suddenly let go, and he uncontrollably shot toward the rooftop. He slammed into the wall and rolled back down, landing right where Shen Yi and Ke Liang had crashed earlier, one foot pierced by a metal bar!
The sharp object went through his foot, pinning him in place. He forced down his scream and looked at the xenomorph again, only to find it had been knocked flying. Shen Xin stood there, making a shushing gesture at him.
"Chirp—!" A loud, piercing cry rang out, sounding like some kind of bird.
The xenomorph, just crawling out of the rubble, was immediately drawn by the sound. It turned toward the source and ran off without looking back.
"What's going on over there?" Lin Pei pulled the steel bar from his foot.
"It's Wu Qiuyi. She said she'd lure the xenomorph to the main street," Shen Xin said quickly before adding, "I'll go help first!"
The others rushed over one after another. Ke Liang paused as he passed by. "Can you still move?"
"You go ahead. I'll be right there," Lin Pei replied. Once Ke Liang's figure disappeared, he turned and walked in the opposite direction.
Meanwhile, Wu Qiuyi was running for her life. She sprinted along the street, and whenever the xenomorph was about to lose interest in the bait, she would let out a bird-like cry. The xenomorph seemed especially sensitive to this sound. Even when attacked multiple times and tempted to switch targets, it would immediately turn back and follow her upon hearing it.
She used this tactic, combined with Gu Yu and the others slowing the xenomorph down, to dangerously lead it to the main street.
The obstacles on the main street had been cleared away. Xu Huo stood in the middle holding the Crimson Sword. Seeing Wu Qiuyi refusing to dodge or yield, repeatedly steering the xenomorph back to the center of the street, he shouted, "Get out of the way!"
Wu Qiuyi wanted to move aside, but the xenomorph's speed was too fast. She had no chance to escape. Just avoiding being caught and killed by it had drained all her strength!
As she got closer and closer to Xu Huo, she made a sudden decision. "Do it! Cut me too!"
"What nonsense are you talking about!" Gu Yu's angry voice came from the rooftop. "Shen Yi, pull her up!"
Her voice momentarily drowned out other noises, and the xenomorph chasing Wu Qiuyi turned its head.
"Chirp!" Wu Qiuyi caught the spring rope Shen Yi threw while redirecting the xenomorph's attention.
"You go first!" Xu Huo stepped back and onto a pile of dolls. Dozens of dolls started shrieking at once.
The distance between them continued to close. Wu Qiuyi planned to retreat when the time was right, but unexpectedly, beast-like roars suddenly erupted from one side of the town, accompanied by banging and crashing sounds.
It was the xenomorphs in the ground cage!
The sounds of the fight outside had still disturbed them.
"It's fine, they won't get out for a while!" Xu Huo's words had barely faded when the small xenomorph suddenly let out an angry cry, braked sharply, and charged sideways out of the street!
