# Chapter 13: Beat to Death

There was still some time before dawn.

The windows needed to be blocked, and the front and back doors needed to be guarded. After some discussion, the group decided to take turns.

"But there are still cannibal players among us. What if..." Liu Jia said in a low voice.

"If the things outside the window get in, everyone will be in danger. No one is that stupid," Xu Huo comforted.

Professor Han thought it made sense. He was just being cautious, so he voluntarily offered to guard the window with the heavily made-up woman.

The heavily made-up woman had no objections.

Wang Xiaohui and the middle-aged woman guarded the door. Xu Huo, being "injured," rested temporarily. Liu Jia and Yan Jiayu held the line first. Two hours later, he would take over the shift, specifically asking Yan Jiayu if she wanted to rest.

Yan Jiayu said, "I used to carry water and chop firewood often. I have plenty of stamina. Let Liu Jia go to the front door." The person guarding the door could rest a little.

The carriage fell silent again.

To test whether Liu Jia was truly blind, the heavily made-up woman deliberately held her breath in the darkness, approached Professor Han, and made a motion as if to bite him. There was complete silence from that side.

Three minutes later, she made her move!

The table in her hand suddenly dropped, and Professor Han knew something was wrong. But he didn't dare throw down the table he was holding. He turned his back to use his body to brace it while shouting, "Liu Jia, be careful!"

The heavily made-up woman sneered upon hearing this. So the little girl did know. The lie was just to keep her steady. Probably as soon as dawn came, she would become the target of public criticism!

The person had to die!

Kill Liu Jia first, then kill Professor Han!

She had remembered Liu Jia's position earlier. A simple raise of her hand could eliminate the threat. But she didn't expect that what awaited her wasn't Liu Jia's soft neck, but a thick metal table!

"Bang!" This blow hit the heavily made-up woman right in the face!

The heavily made-up woman saw stars, her head buzzing. She staggered back several meters. Before she could steady herself, she felt wind coming from her right. She panicked and raised her hand to protect her head. That table, as immovable as a stone wall, smashed down forcefully, breaking her shoulder bone!

She cried out in pain, and then another blow landed on her back. She spat out a mouthful of blood and roared, "The cannibal player is attacking me!"

But no one responded to her. The pounding sounds didn't stop at all. The heavily made-up woman felt like all the bones in her body were being broken. "Who are you? Xu Huo?"

She couldn't hear any sound of the attacker's movements at all, couldn't even identify their position!

"It's me." Yan Jiayu's voice suddenly sounded behind her.

The heavily made-up woman turned around in shock, but the metal table had already smashed into her crown. This time, she heard the sound of her neck bones snapping...

After the sound of a heavy object hitting the ground, a few seconds later, Yan Jiayu announced, "Amitabha. This female benefactor has gone to hell to burn off her karma."

The teeth-grinding, hair-raising sounds of beating and bone cracking still echoed in their eardrums. The middle-aged woman in the corner asked tremblingly, "Why did you kill her?"

"She was a cannibal player," Yan Jiayu said. "Xu Huo said she was the last cannibal player, and she just tried to kill Liu Jia."

"I see!" The middle-aged woman's tone became cheerful. "Mr. Xu is truly capable!"

"This is great. We can spend the remaining day peacefully!"

Xu Huo looked in her direction in the darkness and said calmly, "Yeah."

Around eight o'clock, the train trembled slightly, as if shedding a heavy burden, and the ride became smooth.

Dawn broke.

"Ding dong!"

"Welcome aboard..."

The announcement came as expected. Everyone in the carriage breathed a sigh of relief.

After two days and two nights, the train was exceptionally quiet. No sounds came from the front or back. After checking and finding no one around, Professor Han and the others sat down to rest on the spot.

After a whole night of tension, Xu Huo was also a bit tired. He rubbed his arm, dragged the heavily made-up woman's corpse to a corner, and then looked toward the third-class seats.

The blood-soaked door was deformed and twisted. Protruding scratch marks covered the entire door, almost penetrating the metal. Such power was beyond human comprehension.

Through the twisted gaps, he could see that all the windows in the third-class carriage were shattered. Only a piece of iron sheet dragged at the tail of the train, covered in dried blood and debris, creaking as the train moved.

The complete annihilation of the third-class carriage was unexpected. He had thought that with six people remaining in third class, they could at least hold out until the third day. He didn't expect that the cannibal players who failed to feed would undergo mutations on the second night, leading to the carriage's fall.

The monsters that appeared yesterday, while maintaining human body features, had completely deviated from the realm of humanity. They had no reason left, their only purpose was to feed. They appeared at night, awakened by light, had a certain amount of activity time, and seemed somewhat sluggish to sound and smell.

These things were far more dangerous than cannibal players. Although they lacked reason, they still matched what the heavily made-up woman had said—the more they ate, the stronger their abilities.

But there were too many of them. Were all those monsters cannibal players who failed to feed?

How long had evolvers even existed?

Wang Xiaohui came to his side. Xu Huo glanced at her. "Don't look."

Wang Xiaohui's eyes were red. "If he had come over yesterday too, maybe..."

Xu Huo's expression didn't change. "Don't be naive. He couldn't get in."

Under the woman's stunned gaze, he continued, "You could get in because you're disabled."

One more player meant one more risk. Even if Xu Huo could forcefully stop other players, he wouldn't recklessly let an unknown risk in. But Wang Xiaohui's physical condition clearly reduced that risk, so the other players didn't object strongly.

Wang Xiaohui seemed somewhat unable to accept this. After a moment, she lowered her head and said, "I violated the train rules. My trait time is reduced by one-third. If I had stayed in second class until the terminal station, the game would have permanently deducted that one-third of time."

After saying this, she pressed her wheelchair and moved away. Xu Huo didn't say anything. This was his goal all along. There weren't that many purely good people in the world.

"There's a suicide note in the pocket." On the other side, Yan Jiayu pulled up the overturned tables and chairs and found the old man's coat. Probably to prevent the letter from not being delivered, an address was left on it.

"It's in the capital. My grandmother's family is in the capital. I'll deliver it," Wang Xiaohui said.

Liu Jia picked up He Yang's small backpack. "I'll deliver this one."

One had saved him, the other was barely his student. Professor Han's eyes reddened, his breathing heavy.

Xu Huo, who had been searching the heavily made-up woman's clothes and shoes without finding anything, suddenly looked up and stared at him. "Your wound might be infected."

"Evolvers have strong recovery abilities. It should be fine, right?" Professor Han was stunned. He pulled open his collar and saw that the piece of flesh on his shoulder had almost been bitten into dumpling filling. The color had turned purple-black, and dark brown pus was oozing from the wound.

"He's not going to turn into a monster too, is he!" The middle-aged woman screamed and backed away. "That's how it goes in zombie movies. If you get bitten, you turn into a zombie too!"
