Chapter 2436: Judgment Department and Fate Department
Within the Destiny Temple, the Judgment Department and the Fate Department were two of the most powerful and influential branches.
The Judgment Department was responsible for enforcing the temple's laws, punishing traitors, and maintaining order. Its members were known for their ruthlessness and efficiency. The Fate Department, on the other hand, dealt with the manipulation and interpretation of destiny, wielding immense power over the fates of countless beings.
Zhang Ruochen stood in the grand hall, his gaze fixed on the two towering figures before him. One was a stern-faced elder clad in black armor, radiating an aura of death and judgment. The other was a mysterious woman draped in flowing robes that shimmered like the night sky, her eyes holding the depth of countless stars.
"Judgment Envoy, Fate Envoy," Zhang Ruochen said calmly, his voice echoing through the hall. "I trust you know why I am here."
The Judgment Envoy sneered, his voice cold as ice. "Zhang Ruochen, you have caused chaos in the Destiny Temple. Your actions have disrupted the balance of fate. Do you have any idea what you have done?"
Zhang Ruochen's expression remained unchanged. "I have done what was necessary. The Destiny Temple has been corrupted from within. I am merely cleansing it."
The Fate Envoy stepped forward, her voice soft yet carrying an undeniable authority. "The path of fate is not for mortals to tread lightly. You may believe you are acting for the greater good, but the consequences of your actions are far-reaching. The threads of destiny are fragile, and you have torn many of them."
"Then perhaps it is time for new threads to be woven," Zhang Ruochen replied, his eyes gleaming with determination. "The old ways have failed. It is time for change."
The Judgment Envoy's aura flared, dark energy swirling around him. "You speak of change, but you are nothing more than a pawn in a larger game. Do you truly believe you can challenge the will of the Destiny Temple?"
Zhang Ruochen's hand rested on the hilt of his sword. "I do not challenge the will of the Destiny Temple. I challenge the corruption that has taken root within it. If the temple itself has fallen, then I will tear it down and build anew."
The hall fell silent, the tension thick enough to cut with a blade. The two envoys exchanged glances, their expressions unreadable.
Finally, the Fate Envoy spoke, her voice carrying a hint of resignation. "Very well, Zhang Ruochen. If you are so determined, then prove your worth. The Judgment Department and the Fate Department will not stand in your way, but neither will they aid you. You must walk this path alone."
Zhang Ruochen nodded, a faint smile playing on his lips. "That is all I ask."
As he turned to leave, the Judgment Envoy's voice rang out behind him. "Do not think this is over, Zhang Ruochen. The Destiny Temple has eyes everywhere. Your every move will be watched."
Without looking back, Zhang Ruochen replied, "Let them watch. I have nothing to hide."
And with that, he strode out of the hall, leaving the two envoys in silence. The storm was only beginning.
