Chapter 805: You're Welcome
Next came the remaining two bodies. Di Niu swung them in the same way, then hurled them far into the distance.
The four corpses traced parabolic arcs through the air, like four bloody comets streaking across the sky.
"They were getting in the way here." Di Niu dusted off her hands, then turned back to the two men. "Let's continue."
As they watched the four figures land heavily in the distance, Brother Wang and the fat man felt their hearts drop with a *thud*.
A question involuntarily surfaced in their minds.
Everyone said that a Di-level fighter's physical fitness was far superior to that of a normal "participant," but just how much stronger were they?
If this frail-looking woman, Di Niu, could kill four men in one go, they could barely imagine that level of power.
But to lift two corpses weighing over a hundred jin each above her head and then fling them far away—how much strength would that require?
Extrapolating from this, it wasn't just about killing four men in one go anymore; killing forty men at once would be no challenge either.
"B-Brother Wang... something's not right..." The fat man tugged at Brother Wang's sleeve. "Can we really do this?"
Brother Wang was clearly panicking too. He turned and slapped the fat man on the head. "What the hell good does it do to ask that now?"
"No, but... you saw it too..." The fat man stammered. "Even if we both put our strength together, there's no way we could toss a corpse into the sky... And that woman threw two at once..."
"Don't be stupid!" Brother Wang swallowed his saliva. "So what if she's strong? She can't use her hands or feet! She can only lie on the ground! If we can't win against her like that, then it doesn't fucking matter how many people come!"
The fat man knew there was no turning back now. With four teammates already lost, if they didn't win this match, they'd face even bigger problems.
How were they supposed to explain to the two dead "Resonators" that they hadn't won?
And how would the other side ever believe they really hadn't won?
"Fine..." The fat man gritted his teeth. "Let's do it the usual way. I'll tie the rope first."
With that, he picked up the black rope from the ground and carefully wrapped it around his waist. To make sure it wouldn't come loose, he even tied several dead knots.
"Alright..." Brother Wang nodded too. "When the tug-of-war starts, you just lean backward. I'll be in charge of the rhythm. No matter what, we're pulling this woman over."
"What fucking rhythm!" The fat man was getting anxious. "I'll just fall backward. You're the only one putting in the force."
"Shit... yeah, you're right." Brother Wang scratched his head, then reached out and grabbed the rope. "Then... then I'll do it myself!"
The match hadn't even started, but both men were already drenched in sweat.
Di Niu walked slowly to the other end of the rope but didn't pick it up right away.
Instead, she stretched her feet, then suddenly leaped into the air. Under the two men's stunned gaze, she stomped down hard with both feet.
*Boom!*
The yellow earth exploded into clods of dirt in an instant. Her feet sank deep into the ground, burying themselves up to her ankles.
She leisurely pulled her legs out, then reached down and scooped up a handful of earth. The soil, which looked dry and hard, molded in her hands like giant foam, taking whatever shape she wanted.
In no time at all, she had dug a small pit. Di Niu eyeballed its size—just big enough for her to curl up and lie in it.
"Alright, we can start now." Di Niu nodded.
"What..." Brother Wang was stunned. "You can fucking dig a pit?!"
"Huh?" Di Niu turned to look at them. "Did I say that was forbidden?"
"You—"
"You can dig one too." Di Niu said. "It took me about twenty seconds. I'll give you thirty. If you like, you can even use those thirty seconds to bury yourselves."
Brother Wang quickly looked down at the ground and touched the yellow earth.
This so-called "football field" didn't even have a single blade of grass. The yellow soil underfoot was dry and hard. Even with tools, digging a pit in thirty seconds was impossible.
"Shit... we've been outplayed." Brother Wang gritted his teeth. "What do we do now?"
Qi Xia, standing to the side, let out a helpless sigh. He looked up at the bead floating above his head. So much time had passed, and the bead looked like it was about to fall. If he didn't add fuel to the fire in this game, it might never end.
With that thought, he turned his attention to the two hesitant men nearby. "I think this is actually a good thing."
"What...?"
"I have a little thought, but I'm not sure if I should say it." Qi Xia said. "After all, we're strangers. You might not listen to me anyway."
"No! Speak!" Brother Wang said. "I can tell you're a clever kid. Say what's on your mind."
Qi Xia nodded. "Alright. I think the fact that Di Niu dug herself a pit means she's in a very tough spot."
"Oh?" Brother Wang paused. "How so?"
"She can't use her limbs, and she can't exert force. The only thing she can do is slow down how fast you drag her away." Qi Xia said coldly. "So this is the only strategy she could come up with. If she wants to win this game, the best way is to exhaust you, to make you give up willingly."
"And what does that prove?" The fat man asked, puzzled. "That still means we can't win."
"You're wrong." Qi Xia said. "What she's doing reveals a very obvious point—if you can pull her out of that pit, she loses. Causation backwards—it's called 'retroductive reasoning.'"
The two men paused, exchanged a glance, and felt that this young man's words made some sense.
"Even if you say that, pulling her out of that pit is no easy task." Brother Wang said. "The yellow earth already has a lot of friction. If she's lying in a pit... it'll be even harder for us!"
"No, no, no." Qi Xia shook his head. "If you keep applying continuous force, it'll be very difficult. What you need now is explosive power. That pit looks like it's at most ten centimeters deep. Pulling someone out of it isn't as hard as you think."
"Explosive power?"
"I suggest both of you tie the rope around your waists." Qi Xia said. "The moment the game starts, both of you pull the rope and fall backward at the same time. Use your body weight and pulling force. There's a good chance you'll yank her out of the pit in one go."
"Hiss..."
Brother Wang thought about it and felt the plan was feasible. He quickly picked up the rope from the ground and wrapped it around his own waist a few times.
At that moment, Di Niu slowly looked at Qi Xia. Her lips moved slightly, and she silently mouthed two words: "Thank you."
Qi Xia smiled and nodded, replying in the same silent manner: "You're welcome."
