Chapter 329: The Retribution of Evil
"Since our goals are aligned..." Chen Junnan said, "then it doesn't matter whether I'm an 'Extreme Daoist' or not. Can we cooperate now?"
"Yes. 'Long Live the Extreme Dao' will lead us to victory." Yan Zhichun grinned. "I'll activate my ability. Although the person to my left is already deaf, I can still control the person in front of me. The two of us will both choose 'Yes,' but counting you, there are six people on the board. We need two more to choose 'Yes.'"
"Don't worry. Besides me, there's one more reliable teammate." Chen Junnan patted the wooden ceiling and said to Yan Zhichun, "Sister Chun, if this works out, don't rush off. This young master will treat you to a meal."
"Fine. I'll be waiting."
On the thirty-sixth round, Chen Junnan found a room to land in and casually pressed 'Yes' on the screen. Then he kicked off the wall, vaulted over the roof, and followed the massive iron chains, crawling all the way to the area near Earth Snake's room, where he hid and watched.
He calculated the voting situation for this round. On Yan Zhichun's left and right were Xu Qian and Zhong Zhen, respectively. They might both choose 'Yes.' Adding himself and Yun Yao, this would be the first time everyone was united in their choice.
Even if one of them changed their mind, it would still be four votes to two. They couldn't lose this fight.
Sure enough, Earth Snake's screen flickered and slowly revealed a sentence.
"The final answer for this question is — 'Yes.'"
Earth Snake's whole body trembled. He quickly approached the screen, then looked up cautiously at the ceiling above.
His eyes immediately landed on Chen Junnan, who was hiding in the eaves overhead.
"You little punk...!!" Earth Snake gritted his teeth viciously. "What the hell are you doing?"
"I'm doing you in." Chen Junnan grinned. "You old pervert. Go to hell."
With that, he slowly shifted his body, edging closer to Earth Snake's room. Then he closed his eyes and murmured to himself, "This young master... is really damn unlucky."
As soon as the words left his mouth, the massive iron ball suddenly appeared directly above Earth Snake. The chains made not a single sound, as if the iron ball had been there all along.
"You son of a—!"
Earth Snake barely had time to scream before the iron ball came crashing down.
Because Chen Junnan was so close to that spiky, prickly 'steamed bun,' his body was slashed across a wide area. Terrifying wounds bloomed on his skin, but he didn't seem to care. After all, only by being near enough to Earth Snake's room could the iron ball land here.
BAM!!
The iron ball didn't hit the ground. Instead, it seemed to be held up by something.
"Earth Snake, you old bastard, still struggling in your death throes..." Chen Junnan clutched his wounds. "Just die already..."
"Kid... I-I'm not dying yet..." Earth Snake held the iron ball aloft with both hands, grinding his teeth fiercely. "As long as I survive this time... I'll kill you immediately..."
Chen Junnan looked up nervously at the chains holding the iron ball. Something wasn't right.
Why hadn't the chains broken?
Was Yun Yao's plan different from what he had imagined?!
"Big Star... did you fail?"
He sensed that the situation had taken a bad turn. Something had gone wrong with Yun Yao's part.
"Yun Yao!!" Chen Junnan shouted from the ceiling. "Where's your 'Conviction'?!"
The loud voice echoed all the way to Yun Yao's room not far away. She was now sweating profusely, her eyes tightly shut.
She had underestimated this task.
She had never seen that massive, steel-hedgehog-like 'steamed bun.' She had never seen the chains connected to the iron ball either. So how could she destroy this device through imagination alone?
A steel-spiked... steamed bun?
"Just... just give me a moment..." Yun Yao murmured with her eyes closed. "Give me one more chance..."
At that moment, the iron ball began to slowly rise. This attack was over.
In just a few seconds, Chen Junnan had roughly figured out the situation.
For Yun Yao, completely controlling something that didn't exist was far too difficult.
Chen Junnan thought quickly, then suddenly looked up and shouted, "Incredible!!"
The loud voice traveled from the ceiling to Yun Yao's room, startling her.
She looked up at the ceiling in confusion, unsure of what was happening.
"Big Star, you're really something!" Chen Junnan called out. "How did you do that?! One of the rings in the chain holding the spiky bun loosened, just enough to let the iron ball fall."
"Huh...?" Hearing Chen Junnan's words, Yun Yao felt a bit relieved. "Really?"
"That's right." Chen Junnan said. "Lucky for us, this chain has been used so many times it's starting to rust. Otherwise, your 'Reverberation' might not have worked so well."
As Chen Junnan shouted, he watched the chains above Earth Snake's head. Rust was visibly appearing on them.
Now, the things he was describing were forming an image in Yun Yao's mind. Once the image in her mind overlapped with reality, 'Great Luck' would take effect.
"Big Star, how did you manage that?" Chen Junnan frowned and continued. "How did you happen to know that the sixth ring from the bottom of the chain was rusted through?"
"The sixth...?"
"And you just happened to make the chain break right there. You're amazing, Big Star."
Earth Snake also sensed something was wrong. The man above him on the ceiling was up to something big... Was he boosting someone's 'Reverberation'?
"Kid... I'll kill you!!"
Taking advantage of the iron ball slowly rising, Earth Snake leaped up in one bound and reached his rough hand toward Chen Junnan on the wall above.
Chen Junnan's expression turned cold. He immediately crouched down and stretched out one leg, stomping down hard. His foot connected squarely with Earth Snake's face. He felt a sharp pain in the sole of his foot, like he had stepped on a rock.
CRACK!
With a crisp sound, Earth Snake was kicked straight out of the air and tumbled to the ground. Although the strike didn't do him much harm, it sent him rolling on the floor.
Chen Junnan knew he had just gotten lucky. If his next kick missed and Earth Snake caught him instead, he would be dead meat.
He looked up again at the slowly rising iron ball. The sixth ring from the bottom was indeed almost rusted through, but it hadn't snapped yet. If the chain broke when the iron ball moved somewhere else, everything would be for nothing.
"Oh, Big Star!" Chen Junnan shouted anxiously. "The break you made is so clean!! Looks like it was cut with a damn knife! Now, this Earth Snake—rapist, child-kidnapper, evil-doing, utterly despicable, death-deserving bastard—can finally be killed by us, right?!"
SNAP!
Yun Yao felt a sudden clarity in her thoughts. She had never felt her conviction so strong before.
Yes. Earth Snake deserved to die. He had no reason to live in this world.
That iron ball would fall one hundred percent and crush him to death.
Evil will be repaid with evil.
Under Chen Junnan's excited gaze, the chain holding the iron ball finally snapped. The iron ball lost all control and dropped vertically into Earth Snake's room.
