Chapter 327: Smart People

After about a minute, Yun Yao slowly lifted her head.

"I've got it..." She slowly widened her eyes, carefully pondering the feasibility of the entire plan. "This scheme can work... I've found a way!"

"What way?" Chen Junnan asked.

"It's just..." Yun Yao froze for a moment, then said, "I... I can't say."

Chen Junnan suddenly understood something. He nodded and smiled. "I see! Big star, you're right. That isn't a 'scheme' at all—it's a 'fact' that has a one hundred percent chance of happening."

"Exactly!" Yun Yao nodded gravely. "It will definitely happen, so it's not my scheme. Everything will be a sudden stroke of 'good luck.'"

Chen Junnan listened and then asked, "What do I need to do... to bring about this good luck?"

"Crush him," Yun Yao said. "Let that thorn-covered cornbread fall as usual, and everything will happen."

"Got it!"

Chen Junnan hung up the phone, then stepped onto a chair in the room, jumped up, and grabbed the massive moving iron chain hanging from the ceiling.

The rules had never stated that participants couldn't appear in another participant's room, let alone on the ceiling.

"I really am a genius."

For the next two rounds, Yun Yao sat in her room, steadying her mind and trying to deepen her conviction.

What was supposed to happen would definitely happen... Yet cold sweat trickled down her forehead.

Though her "luck" was strong, making this "future" a reality seemed far too difficult.

"It will happen... It will definitely happen..." Yun Yao kept reassuring herself.

On the thirty-third round, Chen Junnan had already reached the ceiling above Earth Snake's room. At that moment, he was hanging in midair by the iron chain, hiding in the shadows, watching Earth Snake's screen. As soon as that old bastard's screen showed that the final answer for this round was "yes," he would immediately shift his position and guide the iron ball to drop.

But what he hadn't expected was that this time the answer wasn't "yes"—it was "no."

"What...?" Chen Junnan hesitated for a moment before quickly realizing what had happened.

He had stirred things up a bit too much earlier.

From everyone's perspective, the iron ball was now indiscriminate in its attacks. As long as it dropped, someone would die. So this time, no one dared to choose "yes." Everyone chose "no" for self-preservation, except for Yun Yao.

"If you're all going into self-preservation mode now... this little master is going to have a tough time..."

Chen Junnan felt his tactic was stuck again. The six people currently on the field were no pushovers. How could he possibly get them all to unanimously choose "yes"?

Time was precious now. They only had fifteen rounds left, and during that time, the iron ball would only have five chances to fall...

"No..."

A flash of inspiration struck Chen Junnan's mind, and he began to grasp Yun Yao's tactic.

If Yun Yao's tactic was what he thought it was, then their remaining time was even shorter—not fifteen rounds, but nine.

The iron ball had to land in Earth Snake's room within three drops to guarantee his death.

"Damn, damn..." Chen Junnan was sweating profusely on the ceiling. "Old Qi, Old Qi... I really want to call you for help... How the hell do I make all these people listen to me?"

A few seconds later, Chen Junnan thought of something.

"Wait a minute. Why do I have to figure this out myself?" A faint smile spread across his face. "This kind of thing... let the smart people figure it out!"

...

The white-clad girl was sitting in her room, pondering what might happen next, when she suddenly heard a faint knocking sound.

*Knock, knock, knock.*

The knocking startled her, but she didn't make a sound. She stood up and walked to the door, silent the entire time.

She pressed her ear against the door and listened quietly for a moment. The knocking sounded again, but this time it wasn't from the door—it was from the ceiling.

*Knock, knock, knock.*

She dragged a chair over, stood on it, and listened carefully. The sound really did seem to be coming from the ceiling.

Someone up there?

What kind of lunatic was this?

The white-clad girl thought for a moment, then reached up and knocked on the ceiling herself.

*Knock, knock, knock.*

"Hey!" A muffled voice came from above the ceiling. "Morning! Can you hear me?"

The white-clad girl slowly furrowed her brow. "Who are you?"

"I'm just a law-abiding participant. I've got a deal I'd like to discuss with you."

"Law-abiding...?" The white-clad girl looked up at the ceiling and replied with interest. "You... go on."

"Well, this little master here is in a life-or-death bet with an old geezer, and I'm a bit stuck... I might need you to help me figure things out."

Hearing this, the white-clad girl slowly folded her arms across her chest, a meaningful smile spreading across her face.

"Huh?" She laughed. "You're the one betting against Earth Snake? You look even scarier than Earth Snake right now. How did you end up lying on a single girl's ceiling?"

"Hey! You're absolutely right!"

Chen Junnan sighed with a hint of frustration. "But this little master is at his wit's end and has to lie here for a while. Rest assured, though—I'm a gentleman. I would never stoop to peeping."

"Good to know..." The white-clad girl smiled and nodded. "So, this 'gentleman thief on a beam'—what kind of help do you want?"

"I want you all to vote 'yes,'" Chen Junnan said. "I know you're a formidable person. If you can persuade the people on either side of you to vote 'yes' in the next round, we're sure to win."

"Isn't there something wrong with that?" The white-clad girl looked up at the ceiling. "If we vote 'yes,' it seems like only you'll win. We won't. After all, if we vote 'yes,' the iron ball could fall in any room—but it definitely won't fall on the ceiling."

"Wrong, wrong." Chen Junnan shook his head. "The iron ball doesn't fall randomly. This little master has a way to control it."

"Oh...?" The white-clad girl listened to the man's confident words and quickly thought it over. "I see... You're the 'Scapegoat,' aren't you?"

"Heh..." Chen Junnan shook his head helplessly. "You and Old Qi are hands down the most annoying people in the entire 'End of the Land.' How did you guess so quickly?"

Hearing Chen Junnan indirectly confirm the answer, the white-clad girl grew even more curious.

"Since you're the 'Scapegoat'... that means the iron ball has been smashing into you all along, right?" She began to analyze Chen Junnan's "Echo." "So now that you're lying on my ceiling, are you trying to get me killed?"

"Well..." Chen Junnan felt like he couldn't hide it anymore. "This little master doesn't actually want to harm a lady, but to be honest, if I die now, things will get a lot more complicated. So I have no choice but to threaten you from here."

"Is that so...?"

The white-clad girl looked up again. Blood was starting to seep through the ceiling. It seemed this man was seriously injured and was just putting on a brave front.

Chen Junnan wasn't sure if his plan had worked. He was about to add a few more words when he suddenly felt a hand viciously clamp down on his neck, slamming him to the ground.

He looked around in panic, only to realize that the thing pressing down on his neck was his own right hand.

At that moment, the white-clad girl's voice came from the room: "What the hell is wrong with you... to think you could threaten me?"
