Chapter 1294: Family

A somewhat scrawny Ground Monkey was blocked in front by Black Sheep, the entire upper half of his body already soaked in blood.

Not long after, Ground Monkey stopped walking and stood in the middle of the corridor.

“Black Sheep…”

“Don’t stop…” Black Sheep said weakly. “Keep going… I don’t want to kill you…”

“I can’t go on…” Ground Monkey sighed. “We’re surrounded…”

Only then did Black Sheep lift his eyelids with difficulty and look at the scene before him.

A dozen or so “Human-levels” of varying heights stood in the corridor ahead, blocking their path.

Without a word, Black Sheep reversed the grip on his dagger, pressing it firmly against Ground Monkey’s throat. His swaying form spat out a few words: “Are they your people?”

Ground Monkey said helplessly, “I don’t know them.”

“Tell them to get lost…” Black Sheep said again, “Or else your life ends here.”

“Black Sheep… you can’t possibly not understand…” Ground Monkey said. “These people don’t even care about my life. What they care about is your head. You put a knife to an ‘Earth-level’ and dragged him almost halfway down the corridor, proclaiming your ‘rebellion’ status to everyone… Now whoever takes your head will earn a great merit.”

Ground Monkey lowered his head and stretched out his left hand, clenching it, only to find that his fingertips were cold from excessive blood loss as well.

But all along the way, he noticed that Black Sheep had only used the knife to pierce his flesh—so far, not even a single bone or tendon had been damaged.

What on earth could drive a man who seemed so calm to go this insane?

Black Sheep’s murky eyes fixed on the dozen or so people before him and he gritted his teeth hard.

He wasn’t sure if he still had the strength to deal with so many people. With all the blood he’d lost and all the wounds he’d suffered… even an enhanced body might not be able to suppress ordinary humans anymore.

“So, what are you going to do?” Ground Monkey asked softly.

“What… can I do…”

“Kill me here?” Ground Monkey said expressionlessly. “Either keep me under control and kill everyone in sight… or turn around and run now. I can only think of those three paths.”

Black Sheep was silent for a long time, then said, “There’s a fourth.”

“Oh?” Ground Monkey nodded. “Let’s hear it.”

Black Sheep slowly moved the knife away from the other’s throat by a few centimeters, then spoke words that Ground Monkey never expected to hear—

“Could you please help me…”

Ground Monkey frowned, feeling that this Black Sheep was really too strange.

“Do you think that request is reasonable?” he asked.

“I have no other choice…” Black Sheep replied with pursed lips. “I knew this path would be hard… but I didn’t expect it to be this hard. No road leads to ‘survival’… All I see is despair…”

Hearing Black Sheep’s voice, Ground Monkey shook his head. “So what’s the reason you’re desperately trying to find Sky Tiger? Revenge?”

“Revenge…” Black Sheep gave a bitter laugh. “I have no grudge against Sky Tiger at the moment, but I might soon. Right now, my family is fighting him. I need to get there immediately… If I’m late…”

“Family?” Ground Monkey paused. “This is the first time I’ve heard that word on the ‘Train’.”

“I’m about to lose this word… lose… everyone… that word represents…”

Black Sheep’s voice grew softer and softer, whether from physical weakness or excessive grief.

“I don’t mean to discourage you.” Ground Monkey said helplessly. “Even if you actually find Sky Tiger in your current state… what can you change?”

“I don’t know…” Black Sheep said. “I’m barely holding myself together with my last shred of willpower… I can’t think about the next step… My goal in this rebellion was to kill two ‘Heaven-levels’…”

“How many have you accomplished so far?” Ground Monkey asked again.

“Half.” Black Sheep said. “I killed Sky Ox.”

“Wha—” Ground Monkey’s expression changed, but he quickly suppressed it. “You really are insane. It’s a miracle you’re still alive. And now you want to drag this body to find Sky Tiger…”

“So I hope you can help me…” Black Sheep said in a low voice.

Ground Monkey looked down and noticed that Black Sheep had completely lowered his hand; the knife hanging by his throat had long since vanished.

“Now everyone has seen the two of us talking in secret.” Black Sheep whispered behind Ground Monkey’s ear. “They can’t trust you one hundred percent… Instead of hiding and eventually facing Azure Dragon’s suspicion, why not try rebelling with us? Which path do you think gives you a better chance of survival?”

Ground Monkey lowered his head and thought for a moment. To be honest, the survival rate for both paths was low.

Although Black Sheep was now completely cornered, that wasn’t enough reason for him to sacrifice his own life to help.

“Black Sheep, all I can do is not kill you right now.” Ground Monkey said. “You’re a decent person, but that’s all. That’s not reason enough for me to die. Besides, you’re going to save your family, not mine.”

“Not killing me…” Black Sheep nodded. “Not killing me would already be a great help… Please step aside for a moment… I’ll kill all these ‘Human-levels’ right now… I’ll still need you to guide the way ahead…”

“Hey… you really…” Ground Monkey wanted to persuade him further, but found that Black Sheep was not joking at all.

He took his dagger, pushed Ground Monkey aside, and staggered forward. His attacks were completely unskilled, but in an instant, he slashed open the chest of a Human Pig.

The Human Pig clutched his chest and quickly retreated, putting distance between himself and Black Sheep.

“I’m in a hurry…” Black Sheep raised his bloodstained dagger and lifted his head to address the crowd. “Everyone, if you can make way for me here… you will be my benefactors, and I will repay you doubly afterward…”

Though Black Sheep was already fatally wounded, his icy aura made everyone hesitate to approach.

“If you insist on settling this here… then I have no choice but to stake my life…” Black Sheep took a few deep breaths and gripped the dagger tightly. “I really am in a hurry… you’d better come at me all at once…”

Even as he said this, Black Sheep could already see his own death.

Maybe he was the only “rebel” still wandering the corridor, which was why so many “Human-levels” had surrounded him.

But where had the others gone…?

Were they dead, victorious, or had they fled?

He quickly realized that none of the “Human-levels” before him intended to charge to their deaths. They merely surrounded him silently, as if waiting for him to bleed out.

Black Sheep took a step forward, and the crowd took a step back. But after a few steps, Black Sheep didn’t even have the strength to lift his feet.

At this moment… would any “reinforcements” appear?

If they did… what a great miracle that would be?

Before the thought faded, a girl suddenly appeared among the crowd.

She materialized out of thin air, wearing a contemptuous expression.
