Chapter 1260: Counterpart

"Go, hurry!" Tianma flashed and instantly appeared beside Dima. "Take me there quickly!"

Tianshu immediately sensed something was wrong, as an unusual odor began flooding into his nose.

But before he could even say what he smelled, Tianma had already taken her and flashed away to a farther location.

"Hey!" Tianshu shouted anxiously. "That Dima is lying!"

But Tianma seemed to have been completely addled by the matter of Tianhu. She turned a deaf ear, simply moving forward with a frantic expression, completely ignoring Tianshu's shouts from behind.

"Boss..." Dishu sidestepped horizontally, blocking Tianshu's path and conveniently obscuring his line of sight. "If there's anything you need, just tell me, and I'll handle it for you. Should I go find Leader Tianma?"

Hearing this, Tianshu furrowed his brow slightly. He glanced around and saw that the three 'Di-level' members were standing at three directions around him, surrounding him. Each of them carried a rather complex scent.

He knew the Dishu in front of him well enough—this man was slick-tongued, fickle-minded, and his scent was always extremely complicated. But the other two were harder to read.

When he first met them, their scents weren't this complicated. Why had they changed so suddenly now...?

A sense of unease rose in Tianshu's heart. Even if he was unwilling to admit it, he had to prepare for the worst now...

What if these two who had suddenly appeared hadn't received the 'summons' but were instead 'rebels' heading to the 'locomotive'? What then?

A cold sweat silently slid down Tianshu's forehead. If that were really the case, he would have to fight two 'Di-level' opponents while injured, and the Dishu in front of him would most likely just stand by and watch.

Tianshu's eyes darted quickly. He felt that the best course of action now was to temporarily extricate himself from this dangerous situation.

Even if those two really were 'rebels,' it had nothing to do with him. They were heading to the locomotive, which meant their target wasn't him.

"Aren't you looking for Tianhou and Tianji?" Tianshu said. "They should still be in their rooms. Go quickly, or you'll be too late."

Hearing this, the three exchanged glances.

Dihou looked at Diji, who in turn looked at Dishu. Finally, Dishu gave a slight nod.

Seeing Dishu's signal, Diji and Dihu stepped back without a sound, then said, "Sorry to bother you. We'll be going now."

The two left the spot. Tianshu turned around and watched their retreating figures until they turned the corner toward the room where the 'Tian-level' members were housed. Only then did he breathe a slight sigh of relief.

Now only Dishu was left. Even if he really was a 'rebel,' Tianshu wouldn't lose in a one-on-one fight.

"Damn beast," Tianshu called out. "You waltzed over here so brazenly—didn't you see a single trace of the 'rebels' along the way?"

"You overestimate me." Dishu lowered his head, his expression humble. "I can't smell their scent. I had to come to you for help first."

"Then tell me which rooms are suspicious," Tianshu said as he walked forward.

"That would be great, boss." Dishu's expression darkened. "I happened to pass by a few suspicious rooms. I'll point them out to you."

The two of them also moved forward, each harboring their own ulterior motives, and soon disappeared deep into the corridor.

Not long after, two more figures flashed down the corridor. Looking closely, they were a white snake and a very tall Earth Rabbit.

"Why are you following me?" the white snake asked cautiously, walking ahead.

"No..." Ditu shook his head. "I wasn't actually following you. How about you walk behind me, then?"

"Are you heading to the 'locomotive' too?" the white snake asked.

"More or less." Ditu paused, then changed his answer. "No, I can't say that. What are you going there for?"

The white snake seemed to no longer care at all about what the other 'Zodiacs' thought, and said bluntly, "I'm going to kill Tianshe. What about you?"

Ditu hesitated upon hearing this, then said, "What a coincidence. I'm going to kill Tiantu."

"Quite the same route, huh?" Dishe let out a light laugh. "Let's go together then."

"Because of 'counterpart kill,' right?"

"No." The white snake shook his head. "Because of a personal grudge."

The two arrived at the 'locomotive' as if no one else was around. They could already hear commotion coming from the other 'Tian-level' rooms, but they paid it no mind. The white snake walked straight to Tianshe's door.

After waiting a moment, he noticed that Ditu hadn't entered and asked with a hint of suspicion, "What's wrong?"

"Sorry," Ditu said. "Could you tell me which room is Tiantu's? I've been here this long and haven't met that person yet."

The white snake nodded. He was indeed familiar with this place, since he had to come find Tianshe for experiments all the time. He made a rough elimination and pointed to a door in the corner. "It should be that one. Either Tianzhu or Tiantu lives there. I heard Tiantu is a woman."

"Alright..." Ditu nodded and walked toward the door deeper inside.

They stood at the door, turned back to look at each other, then without any hesitation, pushed the doors open and entered.

After pushing open the door, the white snake found Tianshe standing beside a table. In front of him, a naked girl was slowly sitting up.

The girl had her back to him. Like himself, her back had several gashes, but each gash had an eyeball moving inside it, which made him feel a twinge of sympathy.

It seemed Tianshe had found himself a new experimental subject.

"Hm...?" Tianshe paused slightly when he saw the door open. "Who told you you could come in?"

The white snake shifted his gaze to the floor, then said softly, "Teacher, everything's gone chaotic outside. Don't we need to go check it out?"

"Do I need you to remind me...?" Tianshe frowned. "When did you become so disrespectful... You come into my room without even knocking. Next time I get new eyeballs, I won't test them on you."

Hearing this, the white snake felt a very strange sensation rise in his heart.

He slowly reached out, unbuttoned his shirt, took off his suit jacket, and then removed his bloodstained undershirt.

He kept his eyes fixed on the floor and said quietly, "Teacher, there's something I really don't understand. I hope you can clarify it for me."

"Go ahead." Tianshe picked up a towel and wiped his hands as he spoke. "What is it this time?"

"That girl has four gashes on her back, and four 'surviving' eyes, right? I'm not mistaken, am I?" Dishe asked.

Hearing this, Tianshe frowned slightly, then said nonchalantly, "Yes. So what?"

Xiao Ran keenly sensed that the atmosphere between these two was off. She quickly grabbed her clothes from the side, covered herself, and stepped back.

"But why is it that my back has countless wounds, yet only one 'surviving' eye?" Dishe slowly turned around, revealing his pale and mottled back.
