Chapter 1066: We Are Going to Win
"I knew it..." Han Yimo said. "That's how protagonists always are—either they awaken first and stun everyone, or they awaken last and overpower the crowd."
"Uh..." Zheng Yingxiong scratched his head after hearing this, thinking to himself that this guy really was crazy.
"I understand, kid, don't worry." Han Yimo said. "The plot is perfect. Now that I have the 'Echo,' everything else will fall into place naturally!"
Although Zheng Yingxiong had expected Han Yimo to be easy to fool, he hadn't expected him to be this easy. He hadn't even started using his scheme yet, and the other guy had already bitten the hook hard.
"You... you believe it just like that?" Zheng Yingxiong said. "Aren't you afraid I'm tricking you?"
"Tricking me?" Han Yimo let out a light laugh. "As a supporting character, you might not know this, but protagonists are often written this way—at critical moments, they always tap into their latent potential. So even if you hadn't said anything, I already had a vague sense of it."
"Uh..."
Zheng Yingxiong felt the situation was getting a bit too absurd. He had only said there was a smell on the other guy, hadn't even mentioned what the "Fragrance" was called, and Han Yimo already believed him.
Was there even any point in mentioning the "Disaster" part?
By the time Zheng Yingxiong brought Han Yimo back to the room, Chen Junnan was watching the two of them with great interest.
"Little Han... what did this kid tell you just now?"
"Uh..." Han Yimo thought about the situation. As a protagonist who had just gained power, he should probably keep it hidden for now, so he could only say, "...He didn't say anything."
"Right." Zheng Yingxiong nodded. "I didn't say anything. Stop prying."
Even though both of them said "nothing," Chen Junnan felt he had guessed correctly. He figured that Zheng Yingxiong must have run into Qi Xia earlier, and somehow Qi Xia had cured the kid's rhinitis.
After all, Zheng Yingxiong had covered his nose when he came up to him earlier—didn't that say enough?
It seemed Han Yimo had indeed "Echoed." Everything was on track.
Seeing the mysterious expressions on their faces, Chen Junnan reached out and pulled Han Yimo aside, lowering his voice. "Hey, hey, Little Han, aren't we on the same side? Still keeping secrets from me?"
"Uh... same side, yes, but it's really not convenient to say right now." Han Yimo shook his head and replied quietly. "Some day you'll understand."
Chen Junnan suppressed a laugh and tried a different approach. "Then let me rephrase—what was said just now... was it something that would 'help the other side'?"
"Help the other side...?" Han Yimo smiled faintly and answered with a mysterious tone. "Heaven's secrets must not be revealed."
Chen Junnan grinned like he was looking at an idiot. "Heaven's secrets must not be revealed"—when someone wants to hide something, if the answer is no, they'd instinctively say "How could that be?" Only if they've been guessed correctly would they say something like "Heaven's secrets must not be revealed."
This meant the conversation had indeed been about something that would "help the other side." In Han Yimo's mind, as long as he had "Echoed," he could better assist the opposing team.
But for Chen Junnan and Qi Xia, the same logic applied: only if Han Yimo "Echoed" could he help their own team.
"Alright, keep your secrets then." Chen Junnan smiled and turned back to look at Zheng Yingxiong.
"What are you looking at?"
"Kid, wanna come give your big brother another sniff?" Chen Junnan replied.
"How did you... how did you know..."
Zheng Yingxiong realized that Chen Junnan was indeed tricky—he had figured out what he was doing in no time. Unfortunately, Lawyer Zhang still wasn't dealt with, so he couldn't risk using Chen Junnan for a test just yet. After all, Qi Xia had said that with Chen Junnan's personality, if you failed once, you'd never succeed.
"I'm not sniffing you," he said. "What's there to sniff about you?"
"Hey! Give it a try!" Chen Junnan shamelessly approached. "Earlier, when you came over here and covered your nose, did you smell something?"
Zheng Yingxiong was taken aback. He started to wonder—could this be a golden opportunity?
Chen Junnan was already getting suspicious. If he went along with it and admitted that Chen Junnan also had a smell, would he get his "Echo"?
But Zheng Yingxiong was always cautious around Chen Junnan. He wasn't sure if this was a trap. If he really "went along," the guy might flip out on the spot, and the "Operation Bell" would never succeed.
To be safe, Zheng Yingxiong paused and said, "I'm not telling you. Figure it out yourself."
"Hey?"
Chen Junnan wanted to drag Zheng Yingxiong back to sniff him again, but the kid had already slipped out the door.
"You little brat..."
Chen Junnan couldn't help but wonder—had his own "Echo" already appeared, but Zheng Yingxiong was purposely not telling him just to mess with him?
What did he mean by "figure it out yourself"? Was this something you could figure out by thinking?
The good news was that even though the kid refused to give him an answer, the "Disaster" had already emerged.
He had no idea what it was tied to. Maybe those emotional performances he had put on had worked, and the kid had accidentally attracted disaster.
The next step was to make Han Yimo believe that "the mole was about to lose." That should be the hardest part, but at least Han Yimo had the "Disaster" now. They'd have to adapt.
Unfortunately, the timing wasn't great. If he declared that he was about to lose right now, things would be moving a little too fast.
It had only been a few minutes since he had beaten Han Yimo up. If Zheng Yingxiong had just sniffed out his "Echo" and he immediately announced he was going to lose... from Han Yimo's perspective, that would probably seem too forced.
Han Yimo noticed the strange look in Chen Junnan's eyes and swallowed nervously. "What... what are you looking at now?"
"Nothing, just think you're pretty interesting." Chen Junnan chuckled. "Come here, let me take a good look at you."
"Interesting again...?" Han Yimo couldn't quite keep up.
"Even more interesting than before," Chen Junnan said.
"Chen Junnan, just relax." Han Yimo declared. "I've awakened now. Just watch me from here on out."
"HAHAHAHA!" Chen Junnan couldn't hold it in anymore and burst out laughing at Han Yimo.
"What are you laughing at?" Han Yimo frowned at him.
"Nothing..." Chen Junnan wiped the corner of his eye. "Ah... it's just that thinking about how we're going to win, I can't help grinning."
"That's right. We are going to win." Han Yimo nodded. "It's just a shame I don't have any 'character tokens' on me right now. Can you give me one? If you take it from Qiao Jiajin, I doubt Qi Xia would say anything."
