# Chapter 7: Unit 3 at the Unified Grand Database

Mycroft World, directly above the Western Mountain Range, beside the Boundless Heaven.

Starfall Era 839, May 6th, 9:19 AM.

Behind an inconspicuous, almost nonexistent demiplane portal, over three hundred mages were passing through more than a dozen physiological examinations and soul screenings, gradually arriving at their workstations.

Some of these mages came from the Far South Kingdom, some from the various royal courts of the Western Mountains, and some were clergy alchemists subordinate to the Three Mountains Holy City. The Northern Empire and the Eastern Plains also contributed a significant number of mages, even accounting for three-fifths of the total.

Every single mage possessed a minimum strength of Silver High-rank, with the highest reaching Ultimate Peak. They could be considered the most elite academic minds across the entire Mycroft World. Each had published papers with influence reaching the "world-class" level, and each had exerted either minor or profound impacts on Mycroft World's magical system. In other words, if these three hundred elite mages were all annihilated, the magical academic level of the entire Mycroft World would regress by one hundred and fifty years.

Yet now, these future pillars and leaders of the Mycroft magical world were performing the simplest of "transportation" work.

And what they were transporting was the core data hub of the Radiant Civilization, inherited from a thousand years ago—the complete grand library, the "Unified Grand Database."

[Welcome to the Radiant United Central Grand Database]
[Please remain quiet when retrieving information]

Two lines of somewhat weathered large characters were engraved above the hall of the Grand Database. This information hub, once open to all realms and all races, had now become decayed and dilapidated. Although most data remained well-preserved thanks to the continuous repairs by the honorable database guardians, the thousand years without proper maintenance had left the entire database in a precarious state. To ensure data safety, the major powers of the Starfall Era decided to transfer all precious knowledge within to secure areas as quickly as possible.

The personnel carrying this out were these most professionally skilled mages, and... the artificial intelligences born precisely for this purpose.

Unit 3 floated above the crystal floor of a spacious hall spanning nearly one square kilometer. Beneath her feet, behind that layer of anti-magic crystal floor that appeared fragile but could actually withstand direct Gold-rank spell strikes, twenty-two thousand five hundred black cylindrical information storage units were evenly arranged.

Above each storage unit, a numerical designation was formed from pure energy, ranging from the initial 1 all the way to 22500. Within each symbol floated various peculiar information fragments. By using arcane power, battle qi, or any form of transcendent power to communicate with them, one could clearly obtain a catalog and summary of all materials contained within that particular storage unit.

This was Information Hall Number 447 of the Unified Grand Database, and also the place where Unit 3 had been working in recent days.

Each cylindrical storage unit contained nearly endless text, images, and video materials, categorized by geometry, philosophical speculation, transcendent cultivation, and the art of war, among other types of information. The history, technology, and all philosophical, artistic, and social structures of an ordinary medieval civilization, even if turned into video, could not fill half of a single storage unit. Yet each Information Hall contained twenty-two thousand five hundred such storage units, and there were five hundred and fifty-one numbered Information Halls in total.

"Starting from Hall 417, the information stored in the Information Halls has nothing to do with the Mycroft Continent or various transcendent cultivation methods anymore. They're basically data reserves from other worlds, even other civilizations."

Floating alone in the center of the Information Hall, Unit 3 casually spread her hands. The wings behind the girl scattered into countless feathers, each feather composed of the purest data light streams. In an instant, the artificial intelligence girl seemed to transform into a heavenly messenger, filling the entire hall with violet-colored wings. The next moment, all the wings turned into ribbons of light, simultaneously connecting to all twenty-two thousand five hundred storage units.

Faint light flickered within the light ribbons—energy fluctuations caused by the transmission of massive amounts of data. Already accustomed to this work, Unit 3 no longer felt the dizziness from large-scale processing and data transfer that she had at the beginning. She expertly compressed and packaged all the data perfectly, uploaded it to the Magic Net for caching, and then had it uniformly downloaded by three newly built databases located in the Boundless Heaven, the Myriad Realms Sacrificial Ground, and the Three Mountains Holy City.

If an ordinary human were to bear the enormous data transmission equivalent to the complete information of several civilizations, their brain would likely be overwhelmed and explode. Even if they were fortunate enough not to die on the spot, having their self-will washed clean would be normal. Even elite mages who had cultivated to the transcendent level had to make comprehensive preparations when processing this information, ensuring that their self-will wouldn't be burst apart by these precious knowledge fragments.

Only Unit 3, and a few high-level mage tower spirits that had clearly awakened self-will—only these pure artificial souls, lifeforms already assimilated with data—could ignore the impact of massive foreign information and perform rapid, precise data transfer.

"If Joshua hadn't asked me to come help, I wouldn't be here. Every day it's just boring input and output of data..."

While transferring data, Unit 3 still had energy to complain. She floated in midair, curled up hugging her knees, rolling around indignantly: "I heard he's been at the Myriad Realms Sacrificial Ground lately. I wonder what he's doing. He hasn't even come to see me."

Though she said this, in reality, Unit 3 contacted Joshua every day through the information terminal. Otherwise, they wouldn't be able to exchange information about the Grand Database. So this complaint was just nonsense born from excessive boredom.

Realizing her loss of composure, she shifted her attention slightly and began to focus on what kind of content was actually in the information she was transmitting.

In the past few months of work, Unit 3 had processed information measured in quadrillions. Among it was the entire evolutionary calculation of the Mycroft World since its birth, original bloodline information maps of various races, and almost complete ancient historical records. All this information was meticulously detailed, even recording specific memories of a certain race on a certain day of a certain year.

These purely historical records were naturally very boring for Unit 3. But beyond that, the Grand Database also contained countless cultivation methods related to transcendent practice and their evolutionary processes. The artificial intelligence girl read through them with great interest, browsing human history from the earliest single psionic energy, to the subsequent discovery of arcane power and development of arcane arts, and then from pure arcane magic transforming into the "near-modern magical system" encompassing the six elements and aether.

Compared to information about transcendent power, even the most detailed racial civilization history was nothing more than a drop in the ocean. If, among the total of over five hundred Information Halls, at most eighty halls stored historical information about all civilizations and worlds, including the former Sanctuary Alliance, then at least three-quarters of the remaining four hundred-plus halls were related to the research and development of various transcendent powers and experimental records of special transcendent material science.

Psionic energy, arcane arts, nature's force, elemental magic, life energy, battle qi, aether, holy light... Following chronological order, various transcendent powers were successively discovered by humans and various races, then giving rise to brilliant foundations built upon countless complex or simple transcendent power systems. The Grand Database ensured that no matter how insignificant a heritage might be, it would always have a place in the history of civilization, never to be forgotten, so that later generations could always stand on the shoulders of earlier ones.

Whether complex or simple, correct or erroneous, all transcendent powers from the moment of their discovery until the Grand Database was knocked away—all their changes, derivations, and countless cultivation experiences—were stored within these black pillars, transformed into nearly eternal heritage.

Unit 3 very much enjoyed studying this information—or rather, she enjoyed absorbing knowledge beneficial to herself through studying it, thereby becoming stronger.

Because to stand by that person's side, merely having the current mediocre strength was absolutely insufficient.

She knew that she was not Ying or Lin, not Hei or Guang. She didn't need to call Joshua "Master" or "Father," but could address him directly by name... This was her greatest difference from the others, and also the reason she needed to strive. Only by being strong enough could she have the confidence and right to stand by his side.

"Oh? That's it? Next is... information about war and enemies?!"

However, just as Unit 3 was engrossed in reading papers titled "Level 7 Intelligent Logic," "Synthetic Soul—Dawn of Artificial Life," and "Evolution of Artificial Intelligence," she suddenly discovered that after Storage Unit 1146, what was stored was no longer various profound academic theories and technical papers, but scattered yet extremely important information completely different from before.

It was information about war, about "Abyss," "Chaos," "Hostile Civilizations," and even "Evil Gods"!

Quickly scanning the catalog, Unit 3 couldn't help but control her magical projection to make an expression of "gasping in cold air," then spoke in a low, serious tone: "What follows should be all the battle processes and data regarding enemies left by the Unified Grand Database before it was knocked away during the Final War, right?!"

A few seconds later, after instantly browsing a large amount of information, Unit 3 found that her guess was correct. From Storage Unit 1146 onward, all the storage units in the entire Information Hall 447 contained information about the Radiant Civilization, or rather, about civilizations throughout the World Star River that were hostile to the Mycroft World, including the Abyss, Chaos, and various other threats!

Throughout the entire multiverse, besides the Abyss, Chaos, and Void Behemoths that existed as common enemies, there were also ultimate existences called Evil Gods and Terminators. They were threats to all order, great enemies of all civilizations and worlds that still existed. But order itself was not monolithic. There were always peculiar civilizations that, due to their innate culture, racial physiological instincts, or even excessively twisted and alienated survival desires, embarked on the path of destroying everything.

Some were racial purist civilizations that couldn't tolerate other races existing in the multiverse. Some were devourer civilizations that regarded all other life, even the Abyss and Evil Gods, as food. Some were fanatical civilizations that believed anyone who didn't believe in their gods were heretics deserving death... These beings existed in all strange forms, but without exception, they were enormous threats. Therefore, the former Radiant Civilization stored them, along with their endings of being jointly destroyed by multiple civilizations, in the database as a warning to future generations to maintain reverence and tolerance, daring to accept differences.

The reason Unit 3 paid attention to this was that she found within it an "artificial intelligence civilization" that had destroyed its original creators and replaced their civilization. This civilization regarded all intelligent beings as natural enemies, trusting only their own kind—fellow artificial creations, namely various mechanical intelligences and tower spirits.

With artificial souls as high-level controllers, they controlled low-level mechanical bodies with little intelligence. Through continuous self-replication and data analysis, they mastered all the technology of their creators and began further deduction and advancement. They gathered all the resources of their mother world in one place, forging them into a massive star warship, attempting to use it as a springboard to invade other worlds. The massive star warship could distort the void by its sheer mass, causing the orbits of surrounding worlds to shift and tremble.

Unfortunately, the first world they found was the Radiant Civilization at its peak. Naturally, things didn't need to be said further. Their fate, along with that of their creators, was recorded in the database, becoming a piece of information that evoked sighs and reflection.

Unit 3 silently finished reading the ending of her mad kin, then sighed and continued browsing the following materials. Soon, she found what she wanted, which she was sure Joshua would also be interested in.

Materials about Chaos and "Evil Gods."

"Is that so? Before the Myriad Realms Sacrificial Ground was activated, traces of Chaos forces had already appeared in various corners of the World Star River. It's just that no one paid attention at the time."

After roughly browsing some important reconnaissance reports and the civilization data from the Radiant Era on the eve of the Final War, Unit 3 couldn't help but exhale, appearing somewhat gloomy: "If the Radiant Civilization had prepared in advance, hadn't been immersed in the joy of completing the Myriad Realms Sacrificial Ground, but had instead been slightly vigilant about these omens, then everything might have had a different ending."

The Carlis World might not have been invaded by the Famine Evil God, thus avoiding its destructive end.

According to the records in the Grand Database, on the eve of the Final War, the Mycroft Civilization of the Radiant Era possessed nearly a hundred legendary experts, over thirty orthodox deities, and countless pseudo-legendaries, sub-deities, and those on the verge of ascending to godhood. In that prosperous era, every city, even every small town, had multiple Ultimate-rank experts stationed. Silver-rank was basically the commoner class, and Gold-rank was merely slightly outstanding grassroots personnel.

In that era, due to transcendent power, only a small portion of people needed to work for a few days to obtain the living resources most people needed for a month. The energy that a legendary expert could convert from void free energy in a single day was enough to supply dozens of cities for half a year. Productivity and energy were extremely abundant. The strong and ordinary people coexisted harmoniously, and the entire society had nearly entered a perfect era of great harmony.

There was no discrimination or hatred between races, no difference between ethnicities. Even elves and dwarves could form families. As long as the marrying couple found it acceptable, there were no deformed children in the world because, during pregnancy, parents could use various magic and life energy fine-tuning to adjust the embryo into its most perfect form.

For a single world, the Mycroft World had been developed to its limit. And because of the Sage's existence, the Radiant Civilization did not recklessly colonize outward but cautiously selected uninhabited life worlds for trial reconnaissance. Besides the Sage's personal wishes, the Myriad Realms Sacrificial Ground naturally also bore the heavy responsibility of the former Radiant Civilization's outward colonization.

But what the Myriad Realms Sacrificial Ground connected to was not some beautiful new world, but the endless Abyss.

And the Evil Gods naturally followed.

"'Famine,' 'Plague,' 'Imbalance,' 'Aging,' 'Extreme Cold,' 'Atmosphere,' 'Deviation,' 'Gale,' 'Calamity,' 'Pollution'... and 'Plenty.'"

Browsing the list of Evil Gods, Unit 3 subconsciously made a "gulping" motion. The artificial intelligence girl's projection flickered with static for a moment, then returned to normal. She spoke with considerable shock: "So many? A total of twenty-one named Evil Gods confirmed to have appeared, plus several hidden behind the scenes that hadn't formally appeared before the database was knocked away?!"

The originally extremely mysterious information about Evil Gods appeared as common as cabbage. Among them were names familiar to the Mycroft people, as well as names unfamiliar to everyone. Regarding this, Unit 3 understood very well: "Those still remembered are naturally the ones that didn't die after the war. The forgotten Evil Gods have probably ceased to exist by now."

After all, with the high-end power of the former Mycroft World, it could be said to be the strongest in the surrounding World Star River, even capable of contending for the position of the strongest civilization in the multiverse at that time. Even the Sanctuary Civilization was likely more than a step behind in terms of pure strength. It could simultaneously confront several Evil Gods and slay them one by one.

The known Evil Gods still alive were respectively "Famine," "Plague," "Atmosphere," "Calamity," and "Decay." Among them, Famine, Calamity, and Decay did not directly attack the Mycroft World but instead attacked the Carlis World and the Sanctuary Civilization's domain respectively. Atmosphere had part of its body severed by a saint and likely left the battlefield afterward. Only the "Plague" Evil God, after directly attacking the Radiant Civilization and facing the Sage head-on, still had some remnant body parts that escaped, presumably still alive today.

Unit 3 committed the names of these Evil Gods, along with all the collectible and understandable information about them, to memory. She planned to send all this information to Joshua later.

But then, the information Unit 3 saw in the storage units made this artificial intelligence girl unconsciously widen her eyes.
