Chapter 34: Who’s So Unlucky

As if swept away by an irresistible tide, space-time transformed into a colossal vortex at that moment. A black torrent of chaotic space-time, dotted with specks of starlight, raged through the void, dragging all the otherworldly powerhouses within its range toward an unknown destination.

This space-time tide was so terrifying that even its mere aftershocks shattered some artificial wreckage floating around the Myriad Realms Sacrificial Ground and the Fairyland. Those remnants of ancient creations had drifted in the chaotic currents since time immemorial, indestructible and unmarred by millennia of erosion—even the space-time torrents couldn’t erase them. Yet, under the immense power of the Myriad Realms Sacrificial Ground, which spanned the entire multiverse, these constructs were reduced to dust by the sweeping aftershocks.

Inside the space-time tide, the pressure far exceeded the center of the aftershocks. Though the six Legendary-rank beings were caught off guard by the forced teleportation with no warning, they were not entirely helpless. The pressure that could tear adamantite constructs to shreds was heavy for these super lifeforms but couldn’t destroy or kill them. Just as the teleportation was about to end, the colossal beast Leviathan, who had long dwelled in the void and was intimately familiar with space-time fluctuations, let out a earth-shaking roar. It violently lashed its ten-thousand-meter-long tail, striking the space-time tide. Instantly, a violent gravitational field erupted, causing the once-regular teleportation vortex to churn violently.

Seizing this opportunity, the other powerful beings also acted simultaneously, trying to end this forced teleportation to an unknown destination. If they succeeded in their resistance, they might actually break free from the Myriad Realms Sacrificial Ground’s power. But the Mycroft side had never underestimated their opponents—they had anticipated this.

“I knew it would come to this!”

At the center of the Myriad Realms Sacrificial Ground, Nostradamus, who was presiding over this ultra-large-scale cross-world teleportation, spat out a mouthful of deep blue ‘blood’—it was solidified soul energy. The old mage, grievously wounded by the spell’s backlash, let out a sinister laugh. Then, relying on his connection to the large servers aboard the void warship ‘Apocalypse,’ he forcibly linked the entire information terminal network’s computational power, barely completing the spell amid the violent turbulence.

The computational power of the Northern Empire’s information terminal network was enough to monitor the movements of all humans in the empire’s cities, villages, and wilderness in real time. Such vast computational might surpassed even Legendary experts, but the cost of mobilizing it was immense. After completing the spell, Nostradamus’s legs gave way, and he knelt beneath the massive silver sun of the Myriad Realms Sacrificial Ground. At the same time, the Dominant Will issued a warning to all Legendary experts waiting for their opponents.

“Urgent notice—Due to strong resistance during the ritual, we cannot guarantee the separation of the enemies—Urgent notice, you may face multiple opponents!”

This urgent notice was not transmitted through sound. A powerful soul wave traversed space-time, reaching the ears of all waiting Legendary experts.

“It doesn’t matter. For me, dealing with anyone is about the same.”

In the Seventh Abyss, the Sage of the Eastern Sea, Faina, was carefully surveying the battlefield at the World Center. She was fully focused on observing the traces of Joshua’s past battle with Pope Eagle, until the warning crossed space-time. In response, the Sage shook her head. She turned to look at the suddenly intense space-time fluctuations and the vaguely emerging, enormous serpentine dragon shadow—Faina let out a soft exclamation of surprise: “Strange.”

“This monster has traces of Aether and Psionic Energy.”

“Hmph… It’s a big one.”

On a small, dead world near the Mycroft World, a dwarf clad in adamantite armor but holding no weapon stood atop a massive rocky mountain peak. Squinting, he watched the colossal beast Leviathan plummet from the sky. The white-haired, white-bearded dwarf divine smith let out a scornful laugh, then stomped his foot. Instantly, accompanied by a thunderous rumble, the entire rocky mountain began to shake violently. A dozen seconds later, just as Leviathan crashed into the ground, causing the earth for dozens of miles around to ripple like tidal waves, the rock giant formed from the entire mountain peak and underground rock layers had fully stood upright, shaking off dust.

Standing atop the rock giant’s head, the divine smith stomped again. In an instant, the giant’s entire surface layer turned into a coat of solid steel, reflecting the energy light emitted by Leviathan. He murmured softly: “But what a coincidence.”

“This old man is best at dealing with big ones.”

“Joshua said we don’t necessarily have to kill them… We just need to hold off our respective opponents and prevent them from interfering with the Seven Gods.”

In the void, within a demiplane rich with natural energy, the Nature Mentor stood inside her domain, looking somewhat puzzled at the strange giant beast that had appeared before her. This beast resembled a floating mountain, with over a dozen enormous, octopus-like tentacles, its back covered in various fungi and plants. Galannod could tell that was just the surface; behind those fungi, plants, and tentacles lay the true body of this otherworldly giant beast, radiating a powerful life force. Yet she did not attack, instead frowning slightly: “Strange. You have no malice.”

“Then why have you come?”

Meanwhile, in the Fairyland, the four Fairy Empresses exchanged glances. These powerful fairies, who had become part of the world, each materialized their avatars—four tiny, palm-sized, winged beings of different colors. They said somewhat gloomily: “Strange… Why is no one here for us?”

“Were we assigned to other Legendary experts?”

“No, aside from those maintaining the seal and blocking enemies, Baniel, William, and the other Legendary experts are patrolling the void for possible other invaders… Wait, could it be that those humans look down on us?!”

The most agitated Fire Elemental Fairy Empress immediately flared with anger: “Damn it! Let me…” But before she could finish, the most composed, yet also the weakest, Earth Elemental Fairy Empress interrupted her: “Don’t get excited—it’s probably a teleportation error. If we’re missing someone here, it means others will have to deal with an extra opponent.”

Hearing this, the other Fairy Empresses blinked and sighed in unison: “But to prevent the enemies from escaping, the Myriad Realms Sacrificial Ground’s power has sealed the worlds we’re using as battlefields, so we can’t provide support… Who’s so unlucky?”

In the space-time torrent, the Demon Lords Haier Mu and Saruka didn’t know who was unlucky. They only knew that, unlike the other attacking otherworldly powerhouses, they hadn’t been directly teleported to the pre-prepared worlds. Around the two Demon Lords, rings of space-time ripples were oscillating slightly, resisting the Myriad Realms Sacrificial Ground’s power. Though it couldn’t interrupt the teleportation, it could prolong the journey as much as possible, giving the ambushed Demon Lords time to react.

“His Majesty foresaw this… Without this layer of Abyss Will barrier, we would have already been thrown into the enemy’s home turf.”

The Insect Demon Lord Saruka, focusing intently on adjusting the energy flow within his body to perfect his combat state, complained to the Eye Demon Lord Haier Mu beside him: “I told you, the time isn’t right. To invade Mycroft, we should wait until they’re at their weakest and most chaotic—His Majesty once foresaw their decline and stagnation, hence the plan. But now, it seems otherwise.”

“Fate is not immutable; foreseen destiny is not set in stone. Mycroft is strong; it’s not surprising that one or two powerhouses capable of changing fate have emerged.”

Beside him, Haier Mu, also adjusting his state, replied calmly: “We are here precisely to confirm this matter… And only we, as the failures, would be sent on such a mission.”
