Chapter 56: Tears of the Gods

But no one responded to Joshua's friendly greeting.
The entire elf team, all of whom were wearing cotton robes to protect against snow and wind, were now completely soaked through by the warm, humid rain. They stared at the black dragon and the warrior in the cloudy sky with a kind of dazed, blank expression, their eyes filled with fear and shock.

Watching this weather altered by human power, the young elven genius gradually gained a glimmer of understanding.
The so-called strong do not adapt themselves to the environment; they make the world change for themselves!

And sitting in the carriage, the Nature Mentor, the elder of the current Elven King, the Archdruid Eidelil Galannod, blinked. She muttered to herself with some confusion: "That dragon... is it screaming in pain?"

Although a Dragon Slayer does have a special intimidating effect on dragons, it shouldn't be to the point where even his own mount is afraid...
Even for a Legendary expert, it was hard to imagine why a dragon would be afraid of heights. But in the end, this welcome reception could still be considered a success.

"It has been a long time, Count Radcliffe. Your improvement in strength surprises me."

The Nature Mentor did not come out of the carriage, and the warrior seemed to know the reason, so he didn't mind. Only a gentle female voice could be heard spreading across the entire icefield, allowing everyone present to hear clearly: "We have come this time solely to find the space-time passage leading to the world where the Father God resides, so we will not enter the city to rest."

"I understand."

Joshua had Noir descend in altitude. He understood why. Every Legendary expert is a pillar guarding a major power, a lesson in history.

On the wide mana board, following the flow of mana from an elderly elf, figures familiar to the young elves appeared one after another. They were the postures of great men who had once led this civilization forward. Some of them had even been resurrected by the Father of Nature in this world, contributing to the continuation of civilization.

The final scene was a world-destroying calamity.

Dust and fog filling the heavens, black clouds blocking the sunlight, stone demons and thunder giants roaming in the darkness, hunting all life, floating sky fortresses and light humanoids in the air, and... a great calamitous star falling from the sky, about to destroy the entire world.

But one person stood before this star.

Will was the sharp spear of this unyielding warrior; the gods were the solid shield behind this spear-wielder.
Behind him were the souls of all living beings; before him was the embodiment of world annihilation.

And so, the calamity was defeated. Just as in the past thousands and tens of thousands of years, natural disasters could destroy one civilization after another, but in the end, they would still be defeated by the will of life.

After the history lesson, the day ended. As a ritual before departure, the elderly elf led the young elves in the classroom to devoutly recite a prayer.

And at the moment the prayer ended.

The originally petrified stone trees, dead and unmoving, began to shake.

The colossal World Tree supported heaven and earth. Its branches, buried under dust, were towering mountains that pierced the clouds. Now its tremors stirred the clouds and winds in the high sky of the entire Ilgena World, causing thunderclaps and lightning flashes to illuminate the heavens.

The Father of Nature sensed a long-lost aura.

It was the children he had once abandoned, carrying the blessings he had once bestowed, coming to find this negligent god, this father who had left without a word.

And so, a torrential rain fell from the sky.

Like the tears of the gods.
