# Chapter 47: Evil God Fragment
"Stay outside. If there are any signs of the ruins collapsing, get out quickly."
Calmly giving instructions to Ying, Lin, and the others following behind him, Joshua strode through the door.
He felt his vision darken instantly.
The ancient ruins in Mount Modeth were actually a massive steel prison buried beneath the mountain. Every wall, every brick and stone was inscribed with binding runes and sealing arrays targeting chaotic forces. Everyone present, even those cultists of the Plague Evil God, were ultimately still human. Even the Blasphemous Spider Demon transformation was a modified application of life force, fundamentally different from the true chaos of the void, so they wouldn't be restrained by it—they only needed to watch out for the various defensive traps along the way.
But as he crossed this black obsidian door, which was two people tall and nearly half a meter thick, the warrior sensed that the binding and sealing power within the surrounding rune arrays had instantly concentrated entirely in one place. The energy value had leaped tens of thousands, even hundreds of thousands of times—it felt like a mountain pressing down from above, trying to completely crush and destroy any living being that entered this door, leaving even their remains eternally suppressed in place.
Joshua was human and bore the power of Order. The energy that resonated with this ruin's responsive runes was nearly identical in nature. Even with such high compatibility and adaptability, he felt as if he were carrying several hundred tons of iron blocks while moving. For chaos creatures deliberately targeted, it would certainly be several hundred or thousand times heavier than what Joshua experienced.
But facing this burden, the warrior's body didn't even tremble. He continued walking forward, his footsteps striking the ground with heavy impacts, as steady as ever.
Several hundred tons of pressure meant nothing to Joshua. When he was at Gold rank, he could already lift the four-thousand-ton main gate of Moldavia City with his bare hands. Using various abilities to amplify his full strength, he could even wrestle with Ultimate-rank beasts the size of mountains. This level of load was like adding an extra piece of clothing to the current warrior—completely unnoticeable.
Inside the prison chamber, there was only faint fluorescence. Complex white energy lines flowed and moved along the stone walls, forming shapes like circuit boards. The source of the earth-shaking tremors was not far ahead, at the center where the energy lines converged. There, some dark, massive creature was furiously striking the ground, trying to break free.
No, it seemed more like it was fighting someone.
*Boom!* Suddenly, a dull impact sound rang out. A black figure flew up from the center of the prison chamber. Joshua raised his hand and caught the figure's back. The blonde swordsman, who had been fighting with all his strength until just now, only then realized that another person had entered the chamber.
"Joshua? You actually came?!"
Brandon, who had steadied himself with the warrior's support, immediately turned around, both surprised and delighted. Surprised because he knew what the warrior had been doing before—Joshua appearing here proved he had already defeated, even killed, He Er La Si, that Ultimate Peak powerhouse. Delighted because now there was another strong ally, and the 'monster' in the darkness was no longer a concern.
"What's the situation now?"
But unlike the visibly relieved blonde swordsman, Joshua's expression was very serious. Unlike Brandon, who still thought the Mount Modeth ruins were an ancient relic, the warrior already knew this place was a massive seal suppressing a chaos evil entity. They were now at the seal's core. What had been fighting Brandon might well be part of that evil entity.
His perception was suppressed here, unable to extend beyond ten meters, just like in He Er La Si's small world. So Joshua asked the swordsman what had happened before.
"Cough, cough. Those cultist remnants fled into the ruins after their defeat. They seemed very familiar with the internal routes, using the terrain to constantly delay our pursuit... I chased that leading cultist priest all the way, killed quite a few cultists, but he still escaped into this stone chamber."
Coughing once to clear the congestion from his trachea, Brandon quickly explained the previous situation. When he reached this point, the blonde swordsman's voice revealed deep confusion and disbelief. He said solemnly: "But when I followed him into the stone chamber, I found him shouting strange incantations that didn't sound like any human language. Then he threw himself into that black sphere over there. The sphere immediately began to move, extending countless tentacles to attack me."
"After fighting for a while, I found that my sword strikes couldn't harm it at all. It's like it's made of flowing liquid—cut it open and it immediately heals. I wanted to use the sealing arrays here to trap it, but the cultist priest seemed to have tampered with the core of the seal. The binding power here is weakening rapidly. If this continues, this thing will break out of the seal in at most half an hour."
Hearing this, Joshua frowned. He looked at the black sphere in the center of the stone chamber. This thing was about three meters in diameter, its surface covered with countless wriggling tentacles. Each tentacle was covered in barbs and suckers, looking extremely disgusting. And at the sphere's core, there was a faint, chaotic aura that made even the warrior feel a hint of danger.
"This is an Evil God fragment."
Joshua said calmly: "The cultists of the Plague Evil God should have discovered this seal a long time ago. They've been planning to release this thing. Now that we've forced them into a corner, they've no choice but to activate this backup plan."
"Evil God fragment?" Brandon's expression changed. "You mean, this thing is a remnant of some evil god?"
"Exactly." Joshua nodded. "Although it's just a fragment, it still possesses power beyond our imagination. If it fully breaks the seal, the consequences would be unimaginable."
"Then what should we do?" Brandon asked urgently.
Joshua was silent for a moment, then said: "There's only one way—destroy it before it breaks the seal."
"Destroy it?" Brandon looked at the black sphere doubtfully. "But my sword strikes can't harm it at all..."
"Ordinary attacks naturally can't harm it." Joshua shook his head. "But the power of Order can. This seal was left by the ancient Sage. The power of Order within it is the natural enemy of chaos evil gods. As long as we use the power of Order here, we should be able to destroy this fragment."
As he spoke, Joshua raised his hand, and a ball of blue light appeared in his palm. This was the Azure Orb, the Sage's relic he had obtained. This orb contained pure Order power, which could restrain all chaos forces.
"Azure Orb?!" Brandon exclaimed in surprise. "You actually awakened this relic?"
"Mm." Joshua nodded. "I awakened it during my battle with He Er La Si. Now, it can help us deal with this Evil God fragment."
Hearing this, Brandon's eyes lit up. He also drew the two swords at his waist—these were the Order Twin Blades, another relic left by the Sage. Although he hadn't fully awakened them yet, as the Sage's relics, they should also have a restraining effect on chaos evil gods.
"Then let's do it together." Brandon said firmly. "You use the Azure Orb to suppress it, and I'll use the Order Twin Blades to attack. We should be able to destroy this fragment."
"Good." Joshua nodded, then said to Ying and Lin behind him: "You two stay outside. If anything goes wrong, retreat immediately."
"Yes, Master." Ying and Lin responded in unison.
After arranging everything, Joshua and Brandon looked at each other, then simultaneously rushed toward the black sphere.
The black sphere seemed to sense the danger, and its countless tentacles immediately lashed out at the two. But Joshua raised his hand, and the Azure Orb emitted a dazzling blue light, forming a barrier that blocked all the tentacles.
At the same time, Brandon brandished the Order Twin Blades and slashed at the black sphere. This time, his sword strikes finally had an effect. Where the blade passed, the black sphere's surface was cut open, revealing the chaotic energy inside.
"Effective!" Brandon said excitedly. "Keep attacking!"
The two cooperated tacitly. Joshua used the Azure Orb to suppress the black sphere's movements, while Brandon used the Order Twin Blades to continuously attack. Under their combined assault, the black sphere began to shrink, and its chaotic aura gradually weakened.
But just as they were about to succeed, the black sphere suddenly emitted a sharp cry. Then, its surface cracked open, and a black beam shot straight at Brandon.
"Watch out!" Joshua shouted, immediately mobilizing the Azure Orb's power to block in front of Brandon.
*Boom!*
The black beam collided with the blue barrier, emitting a deafening explosion. Joshua felt a huge force coming from the barrier, almost knocking him back several steps.
"Are you alright?" Brandon asked with concern.
"I'm fine." Joshua shook his head, his expression grave. "This thing is about to fight desperately. Be careful."
As he spoke, the black sphere's surface cracked open further, and a black figure slowly emerged from within. This figure was about two meters tall, its entire body covered in black scales, with a pair of blood-red eyes and a mouth full of sharp teeth.
"Ants... you've angered me..."
The black figure let out a hoarse voice, its tone full of anger and killing intent.
"Evil God fragment's avatar?" Joshua narrowed his eyes. "It seems it's really desperate."
"Ants, you will pay the price!" The black figure roared, then charged at the two.
"Be careful!" Joshua warned, then immediately met the attack.
*Clang!*
Joshua's longsword clashed with the black figure's claws, sending sparks flying. Joshua felt a huge force coming from the sword, almost making him lose his grip.
"What terrifying power!" Joshua thought in surprise. Although this was just an avatar of the Evil God fragment, its strength had already reached the Legendary rank.
"Joshua, I'm coming to help!" Brandon shouted, then brandished the Order Twin Blades and attacked from the side.
Under the two's joint attack, the black figure was finally forced back. But its defense was extremely strong, and the two's attacks could only leave shallow wounds on its body.
"Damn it, this thing is too hard." Brandon said frustratedly.
"Don't panic." Joshua said calmly. "It's just an avatar. As long as we destroy its main body, it will naturally dissipate."
As he spoke, Joshua's gaze shifted to the black sphere behind the black figure. The sphere had shrunk to about one meter in diameter, and its chaotic aura had weakened significantly.
"Brandon, hold it off. I'll go destroy its main body." Joshua said.
"Understood!" Brandon responded, then brandished the Order Twin Blades and charged at the black figure.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, Joshua bypassed the black figure and rushed toward the black sphere. The black sphere seemed to sense danger and immediately extended countless tentacles to block him.
But Joshua raised his hand, and the Azure Orb emitted a dazzling blue light, forming a barrier that blocked all the tentacles. Then, he brandished his longsword and slashed at the black sphere.
*Boom!*
With a loud explosion, the black sphere was split open by Joshua's sword, and chaotic energy surged out from within. The black figure let out a sharp cry, then its body began to disintegrate.
"Success!" Brandon said excitedly.
But just as they were about to celebrate, the black sphere suddenly emitted a dazzling black light, then exploded.
*Boom!!!*
A terrifying shockwave spread out, knocking Joshua and Brandon back several steps. When the dust settled, the two found themselves in a strange space.
This was a space filled with chaotic energy, with black lightning flashing all around, and the ground covered with strange runes.
"Where is this?" Brandon asked in surprise.
"I'm afraid... this is the Evil God fragment's inner world." Joshua said gravely.
As he spoke, a black figure slowly condensed in front of them. This figure was much larger than before, its entire body covered in black scales, with a pair of blood-red eyes staring coldly at the two.
"Ants, you've destroyed my vessel... now, I will make you pay with your lives!" The black figure let out a furious roar, then charged at the two.
"Be careful!" Joshua warned, then immediately met the attack.
*Clang!*
Joshua's longsword clashed with the black figure's claws, sending sparks flying. This time, Joshua felt an even greater force, almost sending him flying.
"Damn it, this thing has gotten stronger!" Joshua thought in surprise.
"Joshua, I'm coming to help!" Brandon shouted, then brandished the Order Twin Blades and attacked from the side.
Under the two's joint attack, the black figure was finally forced back. But its strength had clearly increased, and the two's attacks could only leave shallow wounds on its body.
"What should we do?" Brandon asked anxiously.
"Don't panic." Joshua said calmly. "This is its inner world. As long as we find its core, we can destroy it."
As he spoke, Joshua's gaze swept around, finally landing on a black crystal in the distance. The crystal emitted a strong chaotic aura, clearly the Evil God fragment's core.
"There!" Joshua pointed at the crystal. "Brandon, hold it off. I'll go destroy that crystal."
"Understood!" Brandon responded, then brandished the Order Twin Blades and charged at the black figure.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, Joshua rushed toward the black crystal. The black figure seemed to sense danger and immediately tried to stop him.
But Brandon held it back tightly, giving Joshua enough time.
Soon, Joshua arrived before the black crystal. He raised his hand, and the Azure Orb emitted a dazzling blue light, forming a beam that shot at the crystal.
*Boom!*
With a loud explosion, the black crystal was shattered by the blue beam. The black figure let out a sharp cry, then its body began to disintegrate.
At the same time, the surrounding space began to collapse. Joshua and Brandon felt their vision blur, then they returned to the stone chamber.
When they looked again, the black sphere had completely disappeared, leaving only a black crystal fragment on the ground.
"Is it... over?" Brandon asked weakly.
"Mm, it's over." Joshua nodded, then walked over and picked up the black crystal fragment. "This is the Evil God fragment's remnant. We need to take it back for research."
"Alright." Brandon nodded, then collapsed to the ground, gasping for breath.
Joshua looked at the crystal fragment in his hand, a thoughtful expression in his eyes.
This Evil God fragment's appearance was no accident. It seemed that the Plague Evil God's cultists had been planning something for a long time. And this was just the beginning; more dangers might lie ahead.
But no matter what, he would protect this land and everyone on it.
This was his promise, and his responsibility.
