Chapter 7: Olivia
Linley flew along the Dragonblood Path, quickly arriving at the outskirts of the Edict Mountains, where he saw Olivia floating in midair beyond the range.
Beside where Olivia hovered stood a lush iron-bark tree, its silvery, blade-like leaves glinting coldly under the blood-red sun. Olivia’s black-and-white hair was disheveled and somewhat messy, his face ashen, and he appeared utterly dejected. At his side was a black-haired youth.
“What’s wrong with Olivia?” Linley frowned at once. “He looks completely defeated.”
In Linley’s mind, Olivia was a warrior who pursued the pinnacle, unwilling to remain idle. Even in the most desperate situations, Olivia should never give up or succumb to despair. Yet the scene before him left Linley puzzled.
“Elder Linley, that person claims to be your friend, Olivia,” a family warrior reported respectfully.
“He is indeed my friend,” Linley said with a smile and a nod, then flew toward Olivia.
Olivia noticed Linley approaching and forced a faint smile at him. Meeting a fellow countryman in the Infernal Realm, especially someone close in age, felt like a stroke of fate.
“Linley,” Olivia said, forcing a smile.
“Haha, Olivia… it’s been over a thousand years since we last parted!” Linley laughed heartily, then glanced at the youth beside Olivia. “Oh, Olivia, who is this young man?” Linley noticed that the youth’s brows carried a hint of murderous intent, and he seemed very cold.
Olivia held the youth’s hand and turned his head to glance at him. “This is my son, Daiya.”
“Your son?” Linley was momentarily taken aback.
Olivia had actually married? The Olivia who had always single-mindedly pursued the peak of cultivation had never had a wife before.
“Uncle Linley,” the cold youth Daiya said, bowing slightly.
“Good,” Linley replied with a smile and a nod, then quickly said to Olivia, “Olivia, don’t just stand here. Come, let’s go to my residence and talk slowly. Haha, I haven’t seen you in so many years, and you already have a son… and you’ve reached the Highgod level too. Not bad at all!”
Chatting and laughing, Linley led Olivia toward his mansion.
Soon, they arrived at Linley’s residence.
“Elder!” The guards at the mansion’s gate saluted respectfully, a hint of admiration in their eyes. Serving as guards at Linley’s mansion was a coveted position among many warriors of the clan. Being a guard for a Paragon Highgod was a source of pride.
“Daiya, come in,” Linley said with a smile to the cold youth.
Seeing Daiya like this, Linley sighed inwardly: “Back then, Olivia was already very cold. I didn’t expect his son to be even colder than him, with such a heavy murderous aura, as if he wants to kill someone.” But Linley understood that it wasn’t that Daiya was disrespectful; rather, Daiya had grown up this way over a long period, naturally becoming so cold.
Once inside the mansion—
“Hey, Olivia?” A large group of people on the open grassy grounds of the mansion was chatting loudly. Bebe spotted Olivia at once and called out in surprise.
“Olivia, long time no see,” even Reynolds said, walking over with a smile.
“Olivia,” Wharton and others who had ties with Olivia also came over. Back in the day, Olivia had stayed at Dragonblood Castle for a long time and was familiar with many there. “You’re all here?” Olivia was surprised as well and could only force a smile to greet everyone.
Immediately, a crowd surrounded Olivia and Daiya.
Linley observed from the sidelines, puzzled: “Olivia seems off emotionally.”
Under the crowd’s attention, Olivia could barely manage.
“Father,” Daiya tugged slightly at Olivia’s hand. Daiya clearly wasn’t used to being surrounded by so many people.
“Alright, everyone, disperse. There will be plenty of chances to see Olivia later. He just arrived, so let him rest,” Linley said with a smile. The crowd then scattered in twos and threes. Linley walked up to Olivia and asked in a low voice, puzzled, “Olivia, is something on your mind?”
Olivia glanced at Linley and shook his head. “It’s nothing.”
Olivia clearly didn’t want to talk!
Seeing that he was unwilling to speak, Linley didn’t press further and said with a smile, “Then just stay here with me. There are plenty of people here… it’s lively when we’re all together.”
“Mm,” Olivia replied with a nod and a smile.
Linley then walked away.
In the open courtyard of the mansion, Daiya sat at a stone table in a corner. The table was laid with some fruit and food. Daiya silently gnawed on a piece of fruit, not speaking to anyone else.
Wharton, Reynolds, and Olivia sat together.
“Daiya is like this. He doesn’t like crowds,” Olivia explained.
“That’s a problem with your upbringing,” Wharton said with a chuckle.
Olivia forced a faint smile and didn’t say much. Suddenly looking around, he asked in confusion, “Wharton, Reynolds… when I first came to the Four Divine Beasts clan, weren’t Linley and the others still living in the Grand Canyon? This time, I noticed that Linley’s mansion is the most luxurious and occupies the largest area around, standing out so prominently. What’s going on?”
One’s residence corresponded to one’s status.
In this Four Divine Beasts clan, having the largest grounds was indeed surprising to Olivia.
“You haven’t seen Third Brother in over a thousand years, but that thousand years was the fastest period of his progress,” Reynolds said with a laugh.
“Oh?” Olivia was very curious.
“Let me tell you,” Reynolds said with a smile, beginning to describe it. “Let’s start from when the crisis of the Four Divine Beasts clan was resolved. At that time, the eight great families had already pressed up to the mountains outside the clan…” Reynolds went on in one breath, recounting everything about the Netherworld, the Nine Nether Domain, and even Linley’s experiences in the Planar Battlefield.
“Paragon?” When Olivia heard that Linley had become a Paragon, his eyes widened.
Wharton chimed in from the side, “Of course, at the final moment of the Planar War, my brother fought against another Paragon, a powerhouse named Magnus. Under the watch of countless soldiers and many commanders, in the center of the Stellar River passage, my brother directly kicked Magnus into the spatial turbulence. Hey, Olivia, where are you going?”
Olivia, who had been listening halfway, suddenly stood up and walked quickly into the distance.
“How strange?” Reynolds was also puzzled.
Olivia walked straight over to Bebe and asked anxiously, “Bebe, where is your boss now?”
Bebe pointed into the distance with a smile. “In that small building over there. My boss is inside.”
“Thanks,” Olivia said, rushing over. With a flicker, he appeared at the door of the small building.
Bebe frowned in confusion. “Looking for my boss, and it’s only a few hundred meters away. Why use divine power to dash? Walking would only take a moment. What’s the hurry?”
Pushing open the door to the study beside the small building, Olivia walked straight in and immediately saw Linley reading a book. Linley looked up in surprise and smiled. “Oh, Olivia?”
Olivia stepped forward three paces, stopping in the center of the study.
Suddenly—
Olivia dropped to his knees, his knees hitting the stone floor with a loud “thump!” His face was solemn, and his eyes were full of pleading. “Linley, you have to help me!”
“Get up, quickly, get up,” Linley said, stunned by Olivia’s action. He then waved his hand, and a surge of earth divine power infused with Will Energy lifted Olivia to his feet. Olivia looked at Linley. Linley quickly said, “Don’t do this. Whatever it is, tell me, and I will definitely help you.”
Linley left his desk, walked over to Olivia, and pulled him to a nearby chair. Linley sat down as well. “What exactly is the matter? Tell me.”
Earlier, when he had gone to pick up Olivia, Linley had already sensed something was wrong, but since Olivia wouldn’t say, Linley couldn’t do anything.
“This matter… it’s a long story,” Olivia said with a bitter smile. “Linley, back then, I left Dylin and the others alone to go out and explore. I tempered myself between life and death, and I did make breakthroughs one after another. About a hundred years ago, my Light God clone reached the Highgod level. Then, while taking on a demon mission, I met Dina! Dina was also a lone wanderer. After several missions and life-or-death trials, we quickly got together. Dina and I became husband and wife.”
Linley nodded slightly.
Two lone wanderers becoming husband and wife was indeed very common.
“About twenty years ago, Dina and I had children—twins, Daiya and Leya, two brothers,” Olivia sighed. “Everything was wonderful. Our family of four lived a peaceful life. Dina and I were both Highgods, enough to ensure Daiya and his brother grew up safely… But then, when Daiya was five years old! A man named Bonin came with a group of subordinates and found us. Do you know what he said?”
Olivia’s gaze burned with anger. “He said that Dina was his wife!!!”
Linley was taken aback.
“This man named Bonin told Dina to go with him! Of course we refused, but his dozens of subordinates were all Highgods. My wife and I had no power to resist! But Dina and I would rather die than agree. However, Bonin threatened Dina… saying that if Dina went with him, he would spare my life and the lives of our two children. If Dina refused, he would kill me and the two children,” Olivia said, his eyes flickering with murderous intent.
“This Bonin also gave me a chance. He said that if I could defeat him in single combat, he would let us go,” Olivia said, clenching his fists. “But I lost! I was far from his match!”
Linley sighed inwardly.
Olivia put it simply, but Linley could fully imagine the scene—a man unable to protect his wife and children, forced to be at someone else’s mercy. That kind of desolation…
“To save me and the two children, Dina went with him!” Olivia’s tears fell.
There were many injustices in this world. If Olivia had been a supreme powerhouse, he could have easily killed the enemy. But he wasn’t a supreme powerhouse. Or rather… not yet! So he could only watch helplessly as his woman went with another man!
“But Dina was wrong!” Olivia said bitterly. “That Bonin is a bastard!!! He didn’t spare me and the children. After taking Dina away, he soon sent people to hunt me and the children down.”
Linley’s expression changed.
Bonin had promised to spare Olivia and the others to trick Dina into leaving, then turned around and sent people to kill them. That was truly despicable and treacherous.
“Haha…” Olivia laughed coldly. “But he didn’t know that after he took Dina away, I immediately took the children and fled, and I immediately refined a dark Highgod divine spark!” At that time, Olivia’s Light God clone was already a Highgod, but his Dark God clone was still a Demigod. Of course, he had already comprehended five profound mysteries and was only missing one.
If he had trained normally, it would have taken a few more hundred years for Olivia to break through.
But…
He couldn’t wait!
At that time, Olivia wanted revenge! And since his soul was mutated, even if he refined one divine spark, his other divine clone had broken through independently. Plus, with his mutated soul, there was still hope for fusing the laws’ profound mysteries later.
Since he had already comprehended five, the refining process was naturally very fast. In just a few months, he succeeded.
“When those people found my trail and came to hunt me and the children, I had already completed the refinement. Using my fused divine power and the two profound mysteries I had already fused, I killed them all! Every single one!” Olivia said in a low voice. Before becoming a god, Olivia had already deliberately fused one profound mystery each from the Light Laws and the Dark Laws.
Several hundred years ago, Olivia had succeeded.
After refining the divine spark, the fused divine power combined with the fused profound mysteries allowed Olivia’s strength to skyrocket, comparable to an average Seven Star Fiend.
