Chapter 47: Do You Want to Die?
Inside the dilapidated cave. Resijing’s side was clearly at a disadvantage.
“Bastard. Bastard!!!” Resijing roared, struggling wildly. But the silver long whip bound him tightly like a snake. Resijing even tried to transform his body into energy to escape, yet the surging divine power of the silver long whip completely sealed off his surroundings. Even when his body turned to energy, he couldn’t break free.
“Magnus, I’ll make you regret this!” Resijing snarled.
Magnus glanced at Resijing and said with a faint smile, “Resijing, save your strength.” With that, he turned his gaze to Linley and Wuman, who were clearly about to start fighting.
A thick, long mace gleaming with a cold light appeared in Wuman’s hand. He grinned ferociously. “Linley, I’ll smash your head with this, shatter your soul, and scatter it. Dying by my hand, under a Sovereign artifact, you should feel proud.”
“Bebe.” Linley said in a low voice.
“Boss.” Bebe quickly scurried over to Linley.
“What, calling for help?” Wuman sneered. He was well aware of Bebe’s strength. Though the innate divine ability ‘Soul Devourer’ was terrifying, aside from that, Bebe’s attacks posed no real threat to him. “You two can team up. I don’t mind at all.”
In battle, Bebe could be completely ignored.
Linley reached out and directly handed four Commander badges to Bebe, sending a mental message: “Bebe, remember, even if I die, you must go find the Sovereign of Death.”
“Boss.” Bebe looked at Linley worriedly, quickly storing the four Commander badges into his spatial ring.
Having done this, Linley breathed a sigh of relief. If he died and lost the four Commander badges too, that would be disastrous.
“Boss, don’t be foolish. Don’t fight Wuman to the death,” Bebe sent a mental message, urgently persuading him. “Wait a bit. Try to escape. I’ll go hold off Magnus! That Magnus can’t kill me. Even if I get banished into the spatial turbulence, others might die, but my body’s defense is comparable to a Sovereign artifact. I won’t die in the spatial turbulence either. Boss, you and I are soul-bound. As long as you’re alive, you can find Grandpa Beirut later. Through our soul bond, I’ll eventually get out.”
Just then, a booming sound came from nearby.
Leihong had already started fighting with Cegwin.
“Linley, you’re too long-winded.” Wuman snorted, charging at Linley like a mountain.
“Whoosh~” The mace tore through the air, aimed straight at Linley’s head.
Suddenly, a black light shield with a diameter of a hundred meters appeared, exerting a powerful gravitational force on Wuman.
Blackstone Space!
“Hmph.” Linley’s dark golden eyes locked onto his opponent. His dragon-scale-covered legs stomped hard against the ground as he rushed forward.
The Shadowstrike Divine Sword easily tore a rift in space. This strike contained Linley’s strongest attack power, though he didn’t use the gravitational binding and pressure technique. Seeing this, the anxious Bebe frowned in confusion: “Why didn’t the boss use ‘Inch of Land, Foot of Sky’? Without the spatial binding, the opponent can fully block this strike.”
This strike, aside from lacking gravitational binding and pressure, had the same piercing power as ‘Inch of Land, Foot of Sky’.
“Clang!”
The Shadowstrike Divine Sword clashed with the mace. Linley couldn’t help but step back.
“Huh?” Wuman looked surprised. In their past encounters, a single mace blow would send Linley flying, injured, even bouncing the Shadowstrike Divine Sword back into him, giving Wuman a clear advantage. But now, he only held a slight edge in attack power.
Linley grinned coldly. “That’s all you’ve got?”
“It’s too early to say that!” Wuman’s form flickered, leaving a trail of afterimages as he charged at Linley again.
Bound by the whip, Resijing watched the two ongoing battles with worry. Linley and Wuman were manageable—Linley could barely hold his own with ‘Blackstone Space’. But the fight between Cegwin and Leihong was far more dangerous. Leihong had already transformed into a ten-meter-tall giant.
“Rumble~” Mountains crumbled and the earth split.
Though Linley and Wuman’s fight was intense and swift, it wasn’t too loud. But Cegwin and Leihong were like two beasts, one small and one large, purely trading physical blows. Each of Leihong’s punches and kicks carried the power to split mountains and crack the earth. Cegwin, however, was even more terrifying—each of his strikes was like a sharp blade, leaving deep wounds on Leihong’s body.
“Boom!” Leihong, the giant, slammed into the mountain wall like a meteor, shattering it and sending rocks flying everywhere.
Leihong’s chest was caved in.
“This isn’t good.” Resijing grew anxious. “Leihong specializes in physical attacks, but this Cegwin is notoriously troublesome. He has a physical defense Sovereign artifact and a soul defense Sovereign artifact. No one can hurt him! Leihong is just a target for him. At this rate…”
Leihong was indeed a target.
Leihong himself realized this. He tried to get close to Linley, hoping to enter the ‘Blackstone Space’ area: “If I were in the Violet Crystal Space, I could gain a speed advantage.” But the battle’s flow was controlled by Cegwin, who had already driven him out of the cave and into the wasteland for the final showdown.
“If this continues, Leihong will die!” Resijing glared at Magnus, his eyes bloodshot and fierce. “Magnus, you bastard! I’m telling you, if any of my friends die, I won’t let you off. I swear it! Tell Cegwin to stop now, right now!!!”
Magnus just smiled calmly.
“Resijing, you’d better rest here.” Magnus didn’t take Resijing’s threat seriously at all.
Sovereigns and gods were on two different levels.
Unless there was a necessary reason, Sovereigns wouldn’t lower themselves to deal with gods—it was a long-standing convention.
“Linley, run! Find a way to escape!” Resijing urgently sent a mental message. “Bebe and I will be fine. Hurry!”
But Linley didn’t respond. Instead, he fought even more fiercely with Wuman. Explosions and booms rang out continuously. Large chunks of rock at the foot of Ramhorn Mountain were blasted into rubble. Linley was clearly at a disadvantage, with many injuries on his body. The two fought their way out of the cave and into the wilderness.
“What’s the boss thinking? Why isn’t he using his ultimate move?” Bebe was puzzled as he darted out.
“Let’s go see.” Magnus, still holding the long whip with Resijing attached, walked outside.
In the wilderness, thousands of meters apart, two battles raged on.
As long as the gap wasn’t too big, killing an opponent was very difficult.
For example, between Paragons, they generally couldn’t kill each other. In the case of Leihong and Cegwin, Leihong’s transformation was too strong. Though Cegwin had the advantage, killing him wasn’t instantaneous.
“This Linley’s strength isn’t bad, but he won’t last much longer,” Magnus commented with a smile. “That Leihong will probably die before Linley.”
“Hmph.” Bebe glanced at Magnus, but held a sliver of hope for Linley. “The boss must have some plan. He hasn’t used his strongest move yet, so he must have something in mind. At the critical moment, I have to help the boss.” Bebe prepared himself to block Magnus at the crucial moment.
In the wilderness.
A figure in a white robe, with black hair and red eyebrows—it was Qinghuo. He was moving at his limit, like teleportation, each flicker covering several miles. In the blink of an eye, he vanished from sight.
“Magnus! Linley! You’d better hold on.”
Qinghuo’s speed peaked as he rushed toward Linley’s location. With his strength, Qinghuo could perfectly control ‘Sovereign power’. Before Linley’s breakthrough, Qinghuo often used Sovereign power to check on Linley. After Linley’s breakthrough, he had slacked off, checking only occasionally.
Just now, he sensed Linley was in danger and immediately set off. But the Commanders were fighting so fast—would Qinghuo make it in time?
Linley and Wuman—one surrounded by a black halo, the other by a white halo—clashed wildly again and again. At full power, Wuman clearly suppressed Linley. “Haha! Linley, your strength has improved a bit, but compared to me, you’re still far off!”
“Boom!”
The mace clashed with Linley’s Shadowstrike Divine Sword again.
“Swish!” “Swish!” … Dozens of spikes on the mace suddenly shot out. Linley dodged desperately, using his left arm and dragon tail to deflect some spikes, keeping them away from his head. Though the spikes weren’t extremely powerful, with so many flying at him, they still left several bloody holes in Linley’s body.
Linley was now covered in blood. Every time he faced this move, he got hit.
Little by little, Linley’s body was riddled with holes, blood flowing nonstop.
The stronger the body, the slower the recovery. With new wounds constantly forming, Linley couldn’t heal fast enough.
“A Sovereign actually made such a Sovereign artifact,” Linley cursed inwardly. Early in the fight, when Wuman realized Linley’s strength had increased, he started using this move. But the shooting spikes relied purely on Sovereign power and the artifact’s own might, not containing any profound mysteries.
A strike without law mysteries was much weaker than the mace’s smash, but even so, it still left bloody holes in Linley.
“The distance is about right.” Linley’s peripheral vision caught sight of Magnus in the distance.
“Linley, your body’s defense is really tough. Most Commanders’ bodies would give out under my spikes and die. But with all these wounds, even your blocking power is weakening. You can’t hold out,” Wuman sneered via mental message.
Battle relied on the body’s performance.
With over a hundred holes in his body, it was no wonder his strength was waning.
“Rumble~” Wuman swung his mace fiercely.
This time, the mace seemed even more powerful, tearing tiny cracks in space as it swept through.
“This is it!” Linley thrust his sword once more.
Wuman’s expression changed sharply. He clearly saw 108 strands of black Destruction Sovereign power swirling toward him, instantly enveloping him. A powerful gravitational force pressed in from all directions, the crushing binding making Wuman feel extremely uncomfortable.
At the critical moment, Linley’s sword thrust arrived!
“Ah!” Wuman’s eyes showed a flash of terror. “No—” Under the heavy binding, his mace couldn’t block the sword in time.
“Swish!” “Swish!” “Swish!” “Swish!” …
A torrent of spikes shot from the mace, striking the Shadowstrike Divine Sword at the last moment, deflecting it so it grazed past Wuman’s ear.
“Clang!” In that instant, the mace finally slammed into the Shadowstrike Divine Sword.
“Now!”
Linley’s eyes sharpened. He immediately withdrew his sword and plunged into the ground.
“That was close. This Linley was hiding that move all along.” Wuman broke out in a cold sweat. That sword had grazed his ear—he could feel it clearly. But he quickly reacted. “Linley, he’s running?”
“Running?”
Magnus, who had been watching closely, changed expression. Ignoring Resijing, he retracted the silver whip and turned into a wisp of smoke, flying off into the distance. Before Resijing could react, Magnus was already far away. But Bebe blocked him.
“Don’t even think about catching my boss!” Bebe roared in his heart, lunging straight at Magnus. He had already positioned himself between Magnus and Linley’s direction.
“Get out of the way!”
Magnus didn’t dodge. He simply lashed out with his whip, sending Bebe flying.
“Huh?” Magnus, about to speed off, found that Bebe was gripping the whip tightly, holding on like a madman, staring at Magnus.
“Do you want to die?” Magnus’s face turned cold.
The whip suddenly vibrated violently. No matter how hard Bebe held on, he was flung into the air. But he had bought Linley a little time.
“Escaping my pursuit? He’s already out of my divine sense range.” Magnus smiled faintly. “Looks like I’ll have to use Sovereign power.”
