Chapter 35: The Stone
The wasteland of the planar battlefield.
Two black shadows flickered and vanished. Immediately following were seven more shadows in pursuit. However, the seven figures behind were scattered, with considerable distance between each other.
"That Lei Si Jing is too fast. Only you, young master, and I can barely keep up. The others can't follow. What do we do?" A silver-haired old man transmitted urgently to Monteiro at the same time. Both of them cultivated the Light Laws and were skilled in speed. The others cultivated the Water Laws, Fate Rules, etc., and weren't as proficient in speed.
"Chase!"
Monteiro stared fixedly at the two figures ahead.
"Rumble~" Suddenly, the ground bulged violently, and countless massive boulders shot upward. Each boulder was covered in a black halo, clearly containing the power of the Sovereign of Destruction.
Monteiro and his group could ignore the boulders, but they couldn't take the power of the Sovereign of Destruction lightly.
"Boom!" "Boom!" ...
Monteiro and the other seven either dodged or shattered the boulders. These posed no major threat to them, but they did slow them down.
"The distance is widening again!" Monteiro squinted, anger surging in his chest. "That Lei Si Jing actually has such a helper, and he's willing to waste a large amount of Sovereign power to use this move." Suddenly, Monteiro felt the Sovereign power within him beginning to dry up. He sighed inwardly. "Forget it. Making Lei Si Jing this embarrassed is enough for now."
"Stop!" Monteiro shouted.
When he stopped, the other six also halted.
Although Monteiro's single drop of Sovereign power was exhausted, the other six still had some left. After all, Monteiro had initially used countless white threads to entangle Lei Si Jing, constantly consuming his power. Having used so much earlier, he naturally ran out first.
"No more chasing. This is just a waste of Sovereign power. I don't have that much to squander on Lei Si Jing." Monteiro sneered. "That kid Lei Si Jing is always so arrogant. Making him flee like a stray dog this time is enough."
The silver-robed girl 'Lanasha' snorted. "Enough for you. But the three of us haven't gotten a single Commander badge."
Monteiro glanced at Lanasha and chuckled. "Lanasha, there will be plenty of opportunities later. Right, when Wuman comes back, he'll definitely have killed those two. If he gets their Commander badges, I'll give them to you, how about that?"
"Deal." Lanasha finally showed a faint smile.
Just then—
"Monteiro, I, Lei Si Jing, will remember this!" Lei Si Jing's roar echoed from afar.
Hearing this unwilling, furious roar, Monteiro felt no fear at all. Instead, he laughed loudly and said to the six around him, "Haha, did you all hear that? That Lei Si Jing is furious! Last time we killed that Busili, he couldn't do anything to me. This time, after teaching him a lesson, even if I stand right in front of him, he can't touch me."
"Young master, you have a material defense Sovereign artifact. That Lei Si Jing can only shout. What can he do? Would the Sovereign personally intervene over such a trivial matter?" The green-haired girl chuckled.
Monteiro and Lei Si Jing couldn't do anything to each other.
But Monteiro clearly had more helpers than Lei Si Jing, so it was natural for Lei Si Jing to suffer.
"Hmm, Wuman is coming." Monteiro suddenly turned to look.
On Monteiro's side, six people had Sovereign power emanating from their bodies. The aura of six Sovereign powers was as dazzling as the sun on this planar battlefield—who couldn't sense it? Wuman easily tracked this massive aura and quickly caught up.
"Monteiro, remember what you said." Lanasha chuckled.
"Definitely." Monteiro nodded confidently.
"Wuman." Monteiro smiled and walked over to greet him. Although Wuman followed him, his identity was that of a Sovereign's messenger, and he possessed two Sovereign artifacts, making him extremely powerful.
Wuman landed. "Young master."
"Right, Lanasha and I agreed earlier that if you kill the people with Lei Si Jing, the badges would go to her. Give me those two badges." Monteiro said with a smile.
Wuman shook his head. "I didn't get the Commander badges."
Monteiro's expression froze upon hearing this, while Lanasha's face turned cold. She sneered, "Oh, we all know Wuman's strength. You couldn't kill those two brats? I suppose you killed them but are reluctant to hand over the badges."
Two Commander badges were indeed very valuable.
"Hmm?" Wuman snorted, turning to glare at Lanasha. "What did you say? Are you accusing me, Wuman, of lying?"
Lanasha raised an eyebrow and sneered. "What, is Wuman trying to bully us with his power?"
"I said I didn't get them, so I didn't! Don't go too far!" Wuman snorted. There was no way to prove such a thing.
But in Lanasha's eyes, Wuman was an extremely formidable Commander. As for Linley and Bebe, Lanasha had never seen them before and assumed they weren't very strong. So she was certain Wuman could kill them.
"Haha..." Lanasha laughed lightly. "Since Wuman says so, we naturally believe you. Let's go!"
Knowing there was no benefit to be gained, Lanasha wouldn't bother to argue further.
The two young men with her immediately followed Lanasha as they flew away.
"They're gone." Monteiro turned to Wuman and smiled. "Wuman, tell me now, did you kill those two?" Monteiro thought Wuman might have lied earlier.
"Really, I didn't." Wuman shook his head. "Those two weren't weak either. That Azure Dragon clan youth withstood several of my attacks without dying. And that other young man took a hit from my Sovereign artifact and still didn't die. I chased them, but that Azure Dragon clan youth had a gravity space similar to Lei Si Jing's. I couldn't catch up, so I gave up."
Monteiro frowned.
"That young man took a hit? He must have a defense Sovereign artifact. And that Azure Dragon clan youth also knows the Amethyst Space, so he's closely connected to Lei Si Jing. Forget it, let's find a place to rest." Monteiro led his group of five and quickly left the area.
In the wilderness, Linley and Bebe were moving stealthily. By now, the Sovereign power had dissipated. Earlier, when Linley's Sovereign power was still active, outsiders could easily detect him, so he had moved at top speed. Now that it was gone, Linley chose to advance cautiously.
"Boss, what do we do now?" Bebe transmitted.
"The final battle of the planar war is still three hundred years away. I hope I can break through my bottleneck and fuse four profound mysteries before then." Linley knew that any Commander daring to roam the planar battlefield was a top-tier figure. "Once I fuse four profound mysteries, I'll come out and roam. By then, I'll have enough strength."
A person's strength came from their base power, the amplification of profound mysteries, and their weapons.
Take Haimos, for example. His original body was a golden mountain born in the Earth Plane, nurtured over countless years. His base power was already at its limit. Even without fusing profound mysteries, he surpassed Seven-Star Demons and was close to a Asura. That's why he was taken as a Sovereign's messenger as soon as he was born.
After fusing four profound mysteries, Linley still couldn't withstand his punches.
Even a punch thrown from a distance could pierce through Linley's chest. His attack power was comparable to a Paragon Upper God—all because his base body was too strong!
Linley's base body naturally couldn't compare to Haimos, but it far exceeded that of an ordinary Upper God.
"Once I'm ten times stronger, I won't fear those people."
As Linley and Bebe searched for a place, they didn't notice a small stone lying on the ground less than a hundred meters away. There were countless such stones on the planar battlefield—who would pay attention to them?
"Finally, someone's passing by. Looks like the young man is the leader. I'll ambush and kill the stronger one first, then deal with the weaker one."
Suddenly—
"Swoosh!" The stone shot straight toward Linley.
Linley, moving stealthily, suddenly noticed a stone flying toward him. "Someone!" He immediately became alert. At the same time, he activated his dragon transformation and spread his 'Blackstone Space,' covering a radius of five hundred meters. The stone caught in the Blackstone Space sank slightly, but by then, it was already very close to Linley.
"Boom!"
The stone suddenly dissipated, transforming into a human figure.
"Another Earth Laws expert." Linley was startled.
He had initially thought the stone was thrown by someone. Now he realized... this stone was actually an Earth Laws expert who had transformed into one. Linley had to admire this ambusher's ability to conceal his aura—it was comparable to Lei Si Jing's.
A blindingly bright blade slashed across the distance of less than ten meters. In an instant, Linley's vision was filled with nothing but that dazzling blade.
One slash, and space twisted!
"Clang!"
The unstoppable blade made a strange clashing sound, and its force weakened.
"Hmm?" The figure ambushing Linley was shocked. "An invisible sword?" He hadn't noticed before, but now, using his divine sense, he realized Linley was holding a sword—a sword invisible to the naked eye!
"Swoosh!" The figure, having failed in his assassination attempt, immediately tried to flee.
"Ropu, you fail with one slash and try to run?" Linley's hearty laughter rang out. "Better stay here!" Recognizing the slash, and drawing on the extensive information about experts he had received from Beirut, Linley knew this was the Earth Plane expert 'Ropu.' At the same time, Linley felt a chill. If not for the 'Blackstone Space' forcing Ropu to reveal himself early and slowing him down, that sudden attack might have been dangerous.
As Linley spoke, the gravitational direction of the Blackstone Space shifted!
The downward gravity changed to pull toward Linley!
"Hmm?" The figure's speed dropped drastically.
Linley knew Ropu's abilities. Ropu was best at stealth and escape, and he was extremely fast! But now, trapped in Linley's 'Blackstone Space,' Ropu had met his match. His speed and stealth could no longer save him.
"Hmm?" Sensing the sudden change in gravity, Ropu was alarmed.
"Not good!" Seeing Linley transform, Ropu regretted his decision. He confirmed Linley was from the Azure Dragon clan and would definitely have their innate divine ability. "Against this Azure Dragon clan expert, I might not even win. And he has a helper nearby. If we really fight, it's bad!"
He didn't hesitate.
"Boom!" Gritting his teeth, Ropu consumed one of his precious drops of Sovereign power. A thick, earthy yellow halo spread over his body.
Linley didn't hesitate either. With a "Boom," a black halo spread over his body. Ropu's strength was mid-to-low among Commanders, but he was famous for his ambush and stealth skills, as well as his speed.
"What? He's using Sovereign power too? This Azure Dragon clan kid is willing to waste it." Ropu's heart trembled.
"A opponent like this is perfect for practice!" Linley transmitted to Bebe. "Bebe, don't interfere for now. This Ropu's attack power is about the same as mine, but his fusion of Earth Laws profound mysteries is greater than mine! I'll use him to train. Maybe I'll gain some insights."
Bebe grinned. "Alright, boss. I'll watch from the side." Bebe deliberately retreated a hundred meters away, giving Linley and Ropu enough space.
Knowing it was Ropu, Bebe wasn't worried.
"Hmph." Ropu was secretly furious. He could tell the other party didn't take him seriously. "If it weren't for this gravity space, you wouldn't even be able to touch me." Ropu could feel the gravity of the 'Blackstone Space' increasing. He couldn't escape anymore. Since he couldn't run, he had no choice but to fight!
