Chapter 23: The Trio
“Hopefully no one comes, but given the madness of the commanders, they probably won’t let this opportunity slip.” Linley muttered inwardly as cyan-gold dragon scales emerged on his body, initiating a Dragonform. The divine sword ‘Shadow’ appeared in his hand, and Bebe stood by his side. The two of them were ready for battle.
The sudden descent of the Laws of the Heaven was far too obvious. Almost everyone on the entire planar battlefield noticed it.
“A breakthrough? On this planar battlefield, there are still Highgod clones or God clones?”
“How strange. Could someone have brought a God clone into the planar battlefield? Leaving a weak divine clone outside is one thing, but bringing it here? That’s just asking for death.”
“The Laws of the Heaven have descended. His position is exposed. He’s as good as dead.”
Discussions erupted across the planar battlefield. Everyone here should be a Highgod. The fluctuation of the Laws of the Heaven was an extremely bizarre event. However, due to varying distances, the commanders closest to Linley immediately sped toward the location of the fluctuation!
On the desolate planar battlefield, a gray figure was darting toward a high mountain.
“This is a rare opportunity. Maybe I can get another badge.” The gray figure moved at incredible speed. Just as he reached the foot of the mountain, his form abruptly halted. It was a purple-eyed, gray-robed youth with disheveled long hair.
He was now staring at a figure in white not far away.
“Benfield of the Celestial Realm?” The purple-eyed youth’s face paled in fright. “If Benfield is here, his two companions must be nearby too. If they surround me, I’m dead for sure. Since the three of them have come, that idiot on the mountain who brought a God clone into the planar battlefield won’t survive either!” Without hesitation, the purple-eyed youth turned and fled.
He had rushed forward, spotted the white-robed man, and immediately retreated.
Advance and retreat—it all happened in an instant.
“Hmm?” The white-robed man sensed something and suddenly turned his head. He caught a blurry glimpse of the gray-robed figure disappearing into the distance. The white-robed man smiled faintly. “He fled quickly enough.” This white-robed man had silver-white hair and a face as handsome as a woman’s. His eyes, as brilliant as stars in the night sky, looked up toward the mountain.
“Swoosh!”
The white-robed man shot upward, heading straight for the mountainside.
“Boss, we’re already at the mountainside, near the spot where the Laws of the Heaven descended.” A deep voice echoed in the white-robed man’s mind.
“Big brother, I’m here too.” A crisp voice also rang in his mind.
Just then—
The fluctuation of the Laws of the Heaven rapidly weakened. The breakthrough and transformation were brief. Clearly, Linley’s Wind-style divine clone’s divine spark evolution had ended.
“We missed the best chance.” The crisp voice said reluctantly.
“Third brother, make your move.” The white-robed man ordered.
“Haha, watch me!” Less than a hundred meters from the white-robed man, a black-armored giant stood in midair. This giant was nearly three meters tall, with two thick, curved ox horns on his forehead. His fists, as large as iron hammers, were clad in crimson gauntlets.
The giant let out a low grunt, bent his waist, and slammed both fists into the mountain wall.
Silently, the two crimson fists struck the rock face.
“Whoosh!” Space trembled. Where the fists hit, a circular deep hole a meter in diameter appeared. A large amount of rubble rolled out from the opening, and the entire mountain wall cracked open. Fissures spread like hideous scars.
The giant’s eyes bulged, and he roared, “Damn it, break for me!!!”
This time, he opened his fists like two giant fans and slapped them against the cracked mountain wall. The upper half of the mountain let out a “BOOM” and completely collapsed. Countless boulders, large and small, tumbled down from above.
The white-robed man, the black-armored giant, and a red-robed woman with emerald hair all stood in midair.
Linley never expected the enemy to be this terrifying. No sooner had he retracted his Wind-style divine clone into his body than a dreadful shockwave reached him. The interior of the mountain had split open. Though it hadn’t collapsed yet, the internal structure was already damaged.
First attack—internal damage.
Second attack—the heavens and earth shattered. The entire upper half of the mountain completely crumbled.
“Such powerful physical attacks,” Bebe couldn’t help but marvel. “I bet that attacker has an attack-type Sovereign artifact.” The rocks of the planar battlefield’s mountains were extremely hard, even tougher than those in the Infernal Realm or the Netherworld. Destroying the upper half of a mountain was something even a commander would struggle with.
“But they clearly don’t dare come in,” Bebe chuckled.
Though the rocks were collapsing around them, Linley and Bebe paid it no mind.
“They’re not only strong but also cautious. Hard to deal with.” Linley held the divine sword ‘Shadow’ and watched the massive stones fall. As the mountain crumbled, he could vaguely see the outside. Through the blur, he spotted a burly figure with two thick ox horns on his forehead.
“Bebe, let’s go!” Linley urgently transmitted.
“Got it.” Bebe didn’t hesitate.
Linley and Bebe shot off in the direction opposite the ox-horned giant, while Linley’s ‘Blackstone Space’ spread outward. But as they fled, Linley’s heart trembled. “There are two people in this direction!” His Blackstone Space easily detected—
A white-robed man and a red-robed woman with emerald hair stood on either side.
The white-robed man, the emerald-haired woman, and the black-armored giant formed a perfect equilateral triangle.
No matter which direction Linley and Bebe fled, the three could immediately surround them.
“You two, don’t bother trying to escape.” The white-robed man’s gaze swept over them coldly. Even when the Blackstone Space enveloped him, he only sank slightly before resisting the gravitational pull.
“Benfield!” Linley’s face turned grim.
Linley never imagined that the one blocking him would be the legendary ‘Benfield’. He would rather face Hames than this ‘Benfield’. Why? Because Benfield was a super-strong expert whose power rivaled Beirut’s!
In Beirut’s book, it was written: If you encounter Benfield, run immediately! Don’t think about anything else!
“Bebe, quickly, break through from the red-robed woman’s side. Flee now!” Linley made his decision instantly.
Break through from the red-robed woman’s side and escape.
“Got it, boss. I can’t believe it’s Benfield. What terrible luck!” Bebe recognized him too. Over the sixty years on the planar battlefield, Linley had shared information about many top-tier experts with Bebe through soul communication.
“Swoosh!” “Swoosh!”
Linley and Bebe shot like lightning toward the red-robed emerald-haired woman.
“Hmph, trying to escape?” The white-robed man and the black-armored giant both flew toward the red-robed woman simultaneously, intending to join forces with her to block Linley and Bebe.
Suddenly—
Linley and Bebe reversed direction and fled the opposite way.
The white-robed man, the black-armored giant, and the red-robed woman reacted swiftly, chasing after them. However, Linley’s ‘Blackstone Space’ surrounded him. Once trapped in it, Benfield and the others couldn’t possibly catch up to Linley.
“They’re not giving up,” Bebe glanced back and grew anxious.
“This is bad.” A hint of worry flashed in Linley’s eyes.
Because now the white-robed man and the black-armored giant had flown out of the ‘Blackstone Space’ area and were speeding around from the side, seemingly trying to cut off Linley and Bebe from the front.
“Haha, third brother, second sister, watch me stop them!” The white-robed man laughed heartily, moving like lightning as he overtook Linley and Bebe from the side. Then he charged into the ‘Blackstone Space’ area. White light flared all over his body.
Light?
No, it was countless white threads. Innumerable white threads burst from Benfield’s body, looking like dazzling light. These threads wrapped around Linley and Bebe from all directions, leaving them no room to dodge.
Linley and Bebe’s expressions changed.
“Bebe, be careful. It’s a soul attack.” Linley quickly transmitted.
“Damn it!” Bebe roared and darted to the side.
Behind Bebe, a massive phantom of a Soul-Gobbling Rat appeared. His expression turned cold as he glared at the black-armored giant, who was less than two hundred meters away. The giant had been charging at them but never expected Bebe to use such a move.
“No—” The black-armored giant was horrified.
He recognized this move. It was Beirut’s ultimate technique!
“Damn it, it’s Beirut’s innate divine ability.” The always-confident white-robed man ‘Benfield’ paled and shouted urgently, “Second sister, protect third brother!” Bebe’s innate divine ability was too fast; Benfield couldn’t stop it in time. He knew that only his second sister could save his third brother now!
But he was too far from the red-robed woman to transmit mentally, so he had to shout. Shouting was too slow. However, the red-robed woman didn’t need his warning. She sensed her third brother’s danger and acted without hesitation—her body transformed!
“Whoosh, whoosh~”
The red-robed woman vanished, and in her place, a crimson serpent nearly a kilometer long appeared. Its winding body naturally shielded the black-armored giant, protecting him easily.
“Buzz~” Bebe’s soul force struck the massive serpent’s body.
But it couldn’t reach the black-armored giant.
“Damn, another one with a soul-defense Sovereign artifact,” Bebe transmitted angrily.
Linley had already guessed as much. The red-robed woman wouldn’t have taken such a risk unless she was confident she could handle the attack. Otherwise, it would be suicide.
“Bebe, hurry up and flee. Don’t get tangled up.” Linley urgently transmitted, fully expanding his ‘Blackstone Space’ as he fled in panic.
Fighting Benfield and his group was hopeless.
“Swoosh!” Bebe quickly rejoined Linley, and they fled at top speed.
Inside the Blackstone Space, the other three couldn’t match Linley and Bebe’s speed.
“Damn, I thought only Benfield was terrifying. But his two companions are also that strong. That ox-horned giant has insane physical attacks, and that red-robed woman has a soul-defense Sovereign artifact too. A trio, with the strongest being Benfield. Boss, how can we fight them?” Bebe transmitted to Linley.
“Don’t think about it. Flee. If we can escape, that’s best.” Linley urged.
They fled extremely fast.
But Benfield wasn’t about to let them go.
“You two!” The white-robed man ‘Benfield’ was truly enraged. He valued his brother and sister above all else. “Boom!” A violent energy erupted from his body, and a hazy halo spread around him. His speed suddenly skyrocketed!
“Whoosh!”
Charging into the Blackstone Space, his speed dropped significantly, but he was still faster than Linley and Bebe.
Linley clearly sensed someone in his Blackstone Space rushing toward him at incredible speed, faster than himself. He turned his head and was shocked. “Damn it, Benfield has gone mad. He’s actually consuming a drop of Fate-type Sovereign power just to chase us!”
